About the incident…
It is alleged that on Wednesday, Nov. 7, approximately 3:35 p.m., the four men were at Yorktown mall together. It is alleged that one of the men bumped into the first victim while he was using his cell phone outside the mall and that he then stole the phone from the victim’s hand after bumping him. It is further alleged that the second victim, a 78-year-old woman, was walking outside the mall when the same defendant forcibly took her purse from her arms. It is alleged that all four men then entered a vehicle and fled the scene.
An investigation initiated by the Lombard Police Department led authorities to a nearby strip mall. All four men had abandoned their vehicle in the strip mall. Three of the men were ultimately found in a dumpster and the fourth was found standing outside the dumpster near a Nordstrom Rack store in the strip mall by Oak Brook Terrace Police.
“As evidenced by the quick identification and arrest of the four men accused in this case, the Lombard Police Department has no tolerance for this type of behavior,” Newton said. “I thank the State’s Attorney’s Office for filing the appropriate charges against these four men. I would also like to thank the Oak Brook Terrace Police Department for their work in locating these defendants.”
Members of the public are reminded that this complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendants’ guilt.
