The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Assault, battery
Nov. 3
Bradley Gillette, 25, of Northlake, was charged aggravated battery and DUI near Grand and Lake at around 11:50 p.m. Police said officers responded for a battery in progress at the above location. The victim came to the police department where he stated Gillette allegedly punched him in the face after a road rage incident. The suspect was located on scene and was taken into custody after being found to be DUI, according to police.
A victim in the 100 block of E. First drove to the police station at around 5:19 p.m., reporting that a juvenile passenger attempted to strike him with a bottle. The two juvenile passengers were released to a parent. An investigation is pending.
Police said that subsequent to a motorist assist at around 4 p.m., the victim related he was battered in Melrose Park by a group of gang members. The victim was transported to Elmhurst Hospital where he was met by Cook County Sheriff’s Police who took over the investigation.
Criminal damage
Nov. 2-Nov. 5
Police said while officers responded to the report of a theft at a company in the 800 block of N. Larch, the complainant approached officers and related that an unknown suspect(s) damaged the latch on the company’s storage container sometime between the above dates. The complainant told police nothing was taken from the container.
Criminal trespass
Nov. 7
Police said that subsequent to a call of a subject refusing to leave a store in the 100 block of E. Schiller at around 1:58 p.m., a complainant related that Lester Jehnke, 61, of Wheaton, was asked numerous times to leave the premises. According to police, Jehnke was served with a no trespass notice and charged with criminal trespass to real property.
Disorderly conduct
Nov. 4
Arnold Janickas, 49, of Elmhurst, was charged with disorderly conduct and served with a no trespass notice in the 100 block of S. West at around 4:22 p.m. Police said a victim related that Janickas was attempting to look into the window of her house. The victim has an expired order of protection against Janickas, according to police. Police said Janickas
was later located at his address and taken into custody.
Domestic battery, domestic incident
Nov. 7
A 36-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with domestic battery in the 400 block of N. Oak at around 10:05 p.m. Police said officers responded for an unknown request, where yelling could be heard over the phone. Upon arrival, it was determined that the suspect had battered the victim.
A complainant told police at around 9:37 p.m. that the suspects were involved in a verbal argument that turned physical. The suspects pushed each other and wrestled to the ground. The victim complained of elbow, knee, and back pain, but refused medics. There were no visible signs of injury, and due to conflicting stories, no arrests were made.
Nov. 6
A 22-year-old Elmhurst woman was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 300 block of S. Sunnyside at around 7:27 a.m. The victim told police that the suspect allegedly hit her in the head and she was bleeding.
Nov. 3
A 39-year-old Elmhurst woman was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 300 block of N. Oaklawn at around 12:44 a.m. A victim told police that the suspect struck her in the nose.
A victim in the 500 block of W. Comstock told police at around 5:30 p.m. that the suspect became irate after being served with an order of protection. The suspect reportedly knocked over a bookcase, attempted to take the victim’s cellphone and pushed the victim in the chest. Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect with no results. The reporting officer will obtain an arrest warrant for domestic battery.
Nov. 2
A victim in the 400 block of E. Vallette told police at around 6 p.m. that she had an argument with the suspect and slammed the door on him. The suspect stated he raised his arm up so that the door would not hit him, subsequently causing damage to the door. No complaints are to be signed.

Marquita Adams, 25, of Batavia, was charged with DUI, possession of cannabis, driving while license suspended and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near Roosevelt and I-290 at around 1:11 a.m.
Nov. 4
Faustino Fraga-Rivera, 39, of Palatine, was charged with DUI and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Maple at around 2:16 a.m.
Rene Garcia, 31, of Stickney, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage and expired registration subsequent to a complaint of erratic driving near St. Charles and Fair at around 7:58 a.m.
Nov. 3
Calleen Perry, 20, of Elmhurst, was charged with disorderly conduct-public intoxication, unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor in the 100 block of E. North at around 11:53 a.m. Police said Perry was intoxicated and swearing at the complainant and kicking their fence.
Fleeing, eluding
Nov. 5
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop in the 100 block of W. Industrial at around 9:50 a.m., Mohammed Al Quisieh, 24, of Villa Park, fled the scene. Al Qaisieh and Ahmad A. Al Qaisieh, 24, of Villa Park, then were involved in a two-vehicle light pole crash, according to police. Mohammed was charged with two counts of aggravated fleeing and eluding, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, driving while license suspended, obstructed windows, no valid registration and no seat belt. Ahmad was found to be wanted out of DuPage County, police said. He was issued a citation for no seat belt and posted bond on the warrant.

Nov. 6
A victim in the 300 block of N. Oaklawn told police at around 6:27 p.m. that her husband has been texting and calling her and their daughter. The victim related she wants him to stop contacting her. The suspect was contacted and advised not to have any further contact with the victim.

Brian K. Nicholson, 24, of Harvey, was issued citations for possession of cannabis and failure to signal subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and St. Charles at around 8:47 p.m.
Nov. 6
Christopher Diego, 18, of Bensenville, was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia subsequent to a suspicious vehicle in the 800 block of Church at 7:17 p.m.
Nov. 3
William J. Hall, 33, of Oak Park, was issued citations for possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near York and North at around 12:19 a.m.
Nov. 2
A complainant told police at around 5:35 p.m. that she suspected her son was under the influence of drugs, and when confronted, he immediately left the area on his bicycle. The victim was located at 7:13 p.m. Recovered from the subject were Klonopin®, a “one hitter” and a vaping device. An investigation is pending.
Oct. 21-Nov. 12
A complainant at Elmhurst Hospital told police that shortly after the suspect began her employment, the suspect requested an unusual amount of a prescription drug through the hospital dispenser sometime between the above dates. An investigation is pending.
Suspicious circumstances
Nov. 5
Elmhurst Hospital emergency personnel reported the victim was dropped off at the ER at around 7:15 p.m. seeking medical treatment for a non-life threatening gunshot wound, according to police. A reporting officer interviewed the uncooperative victim, who told officers the shooting did not occur in Elmhurst but refused to provide any further information. Officers were unable to ascertain the location or circumstances of the shooting.
Nov. 2
Police said a suspect was in the 600 block of W. Grand to make a delivery when he started making racial slurs at employees. There have been multiple issues in the past between the suspect and the complainant. The suspect was served with a trespass notice.
Nov. 1
Police said an unknown suspect in the 700 block of N. Oaklawn told the complainant at around 2:18 p.m. that he was at the location to pick up a fork lift battery. After being given access to the building, the suspect walked around to various parts of the building. The suspect was wearing a black coat, light colored shirt, dark jeans, and a St. Louis Cardinals hat.
Oct. 21
A complainant in the 400 block of N. West told police at around 1:42 a.m. that the suspect is one of her former patients. While the complainant was dropping her children at school, the suspect approached and briefly spoke with the complainant. The complainant requested that an officer contact the suspect and advise her to no longer have contact with her or her children.

Nov. 7
Kimberly Havlick, 43, of Justice, was charged with felony residential burglary, financial exploitation of the elderly/disabled in the 300 block of S. Sunnyside at around 2:23 p.m. Police said a victim related she believes her caregiver had taken money from a kitchen drawer. Havlick admitted to taking money on two separate occasions, according to police.
Nov. 3-Nov. 6
Breaking into a vehicle was reported in the 800 block of S. Riverside. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) gained access to his locked semi-tractor that was parked at the above location sometime between the above dates. The lock on the passenger side door was tampered with and broken. The contents of the semi-tractor had been thrown around the inside of the cabin. Nothing appeared to be missing.
Nov. 5
Angelo Bunkley, 19, of Villa Park, was charged with retail theft at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at around 3:49 p.m. Police said Kohl’s security reports the the suspect took a Nike Therma Sphere Hood and left the store without paying for the merchandise. Bunkley was detained by the security officer who recovered the merchandise, according to police. Bunkley then allegedly fled from the security officer, but officers located the suspect, who was taken into custody.
Retail theft was reported at a store in the 600 block of W. St. Charles at around 4:18 p.m. A store employee told police that an unknown suspect described as a black male in his late 20s between 5’7” and 5’9”, average build with short hair, a goatee beard, a purple jacket and black pants asked to purchase a case of cognac. The employee set the case on the checkout counter to ring up the purchase. The suspect allegedly grabbed the case off the counter and fled the store to an awaiting vehicle. The vehicle then fled north on Pick Avenue.
Nov. 2-Nov. 5
Burglary was reported at a business in the 800 block of N. Larch. A complainant told police that an unknown suspect(s) removed copper wire from the inside of the building.
Nov. 2-Nov. 3
Theft by deception was reported in the 200 block of E. Church. A victim told police she received an email disguised as someone she knows requesting money in the form of gift cards sometime between the above dates. The victim provided the money to the person. It was discovered that the victim’s email account had been hacked.
Oct. 30-Nov. 3
A victim in the 500 block of N. Oaklawn told police at around 2:51 p.m. that she found several unauthorized charges to her credit card between the above dates. The card has since been cancelled. The victim does not know how the unknown suspect obtained her card number.
Nov. 1-Nov. 2
Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 300 block of S. Cottage Hill. A victim told police he parked his locked Subaru in the driveway overnight. Upon arrival, the officers observed the passenger side window was broken and the frame around the window was bent. The vehicle was missing a wallet and gift cards.
Nov. 1
Theft was reported in the 200 block of S. York at around 10 a.m. A victim told police she was shopping at a thrift shop in the church basement, where she removed her coat, placed it on her shopping bag, and left it unattended. When she returned the coat was missing. The coat contained the victim’s cell phone and car keys.
Theft was reported in the 400 block of N. Emery Lane at around 6:36 p.m. A victim told police that she purchased a package on eBay but never received it. The shipping information shows the package was delivered. The victim was instructed by eBay to file a report to be refunded her money.
Theft was reported in the 100 block of Virginia at around 9:40 p.m. A victim told police that he invited the suspect to his home. Upon the suspect’s departure, the victim could not locate his wallet.
Oct. 31-Nov. 1
Theft by deception was reported in the 600 block of S. Saylor between the above dates. A victim told police he was contacted by an unknown suspect that his Microsoft Windows expired. The victim was instructed to purchase gift cards and supply the suspect with the serial numbers. The victim complied with the instructions then was informed he needed to purchase more cards to fix his computer.
Oct. 19
Identity theft was reported in the 600 block of W. Armitage at around 1:54 p.m. A victim told police that he received a letter thanking him for opening a Paypal credit account. The victim contacted Paypal and advised he did not open the account. He was
told by Paypal that no charges were made and the account is now closed.
Warrant arrest
Nov. 2
Police said Daniel Stelter, 28, of Villa Park, came into the police station to turn himself in on a warrant from the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office. The warrant was confirmed and Stelter was taken into custody. Stelter was processed, given a new court date, and was released on bond.
