The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Assault, battery
Oct. 8
A victim in the 400 block of N. Oak Lawn told police at around 3:34 p.m. that while he was at a park, he was punched by two juvenile suspects. Both suspects were charged with battery and released to their parents.
Oct. 4
Police said a reporting officer responded to the Elmhurst Hospital emergency room at around 10:16 a.m. for a reported sexual assault. The victim stated the sexual assault occurred somewhere in Maywood. The Maywood Police Department was advised of the incident and took over the investigation.
Disorderly conduct
Oct. 6
Brian Torres, 28, of Burbank, was charged with disorderly conduct-obstructing identification in the 200 block of E. Crescent at around 5:30 p.m. Police said officers responded to the above location for a report of a suspicious suspect possibly hiding in the back yard. Officers searched the area and were able to locate Torres, according to police.
Oct. 4
Police said a reporting officer responded for Joseph L. Taglia, 38, of Glendale Heights, who violated a no trespass order and entered a business in the 200 block of E. Butterfield at around 10:58 a.m. Taglia was charged with disorderly conduct-criminal trespass to real property.
Domestic battery, domestic incident, disturbance
Oct. 5
Police said officers responded to an unnamed address where a suspect had thrown items at the victim after being told to get off the computer. The victim was instructed by their counselor to call police.
July 6-July 26
A reporting officer spoke with victim in the 700 block of S. Poplar who told police about past incidents of domestic violence between the above dates. She related there had been no physical altercation between her and the suspect but that the arguments involved verbal abuse. The victim does not wish to press charges.

DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, open alcohol in public, consumption of alcohol by a minor, public intoxication
Oct. 6
Brion Jones, 19, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, consumption of alcohol by a minor and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Grand at around 4:07 a.m.
Martin Mondragonescut, 34, of Villa Park, was charged with illegal transportation of open alcohol, driving while license suspended, improper lane usage and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near North and York at around 1:30 a.m.
Police said that subsequent to a 911 investigative call at around 9:21 p.m., the suspects were located at the residence and had been consuming alcohol. All were issued citations at the scene for consumption of alcohol by a minor and released to parents.

Oct. 11
Mark R. Bergren, 21, of Addison, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis subsequent to a suspicious person near Grand and Church at around 2:56 a.m.
Oct. 10
Jose L. Acencion-Vega, 21, of Addison, was charged with possession of a controlled substance subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and St. Charles at around 9:26 p.m. Police said Acencion-Vega was found to be in possession of cannabis and cocaine.
Kenneth D. Embry, 28, of Addison, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis subsequent to an investigation of a suspicious vehicle in the 400 block of W. Lake at around 9:03 p.m.
Tyler O’Hagan, 18, of Chicago, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, no valid driver’s license and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near Larch and Armitage at around 5:04 p.m. Police said O’Hagan was in possession of cocaine, cannabis oil and a digital scale.
Oct. 9
Steven Rosales, 28, of Bensenville, was charged with illegal transportation of alcohol, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license suspended, no rear registration plate and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Diversey at around 11:14 p.m.
Tevin Russell, 26, of Oak Park, was charged with possession of cannabis, no valid driver’s license and one headlight subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Willow at around 7:39 p.m.
Oct. 8
Matthew P. Kimball, 35, of Lemont, was issued citations for possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful operation of a mobile communication device subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Rte. 83 at around 4:43 p.m.
Oct. 4
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near Prospect and Elm Park at around 6:34 p.m., a juvenile passenger was found to be in possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia. The passenger was issued citations for both offenses and was released.
Suspicious circumstances
Oct. 7
A victim at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 told police at around 1:18 p.m. that she parked her car overnight at the store’s parking lot. Upon returning to her car the next morning, she found a suspicious note on her car. The victim believes this incident is related to a police report she filed with Bensenville Police.

Aug. 30-Oct. 9
Identity theft was reported in the 800 block of S. Euclid. A victim told police that after reviewing his credit card statement, he found that an unknown suspect(s) fraudulently used his credit card to open an Amazon Prime account, and charged merchandise to his credit card sometime between the above dates. The victim canceled the credit card and notified Amazon and his credit card provider of the fraudulent transactions.
Oct. 8
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop in the 100 block of W. North at around 8:10 p.m., Rolon R. Ortiz, 34, of Chicago, admitted to stealing over the counter medication. Gregory B. Crosby, 50, of Chicago, was found to be in possession of a straw containing heroin, according to police. Ortiz was charged with burglary, retail theft,
possession of drug paraphernalia, disobeying a stop sign, and disobeying a traffic control device. Crosby was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and illegal transportation of alcohol.
Identity theft was reported in the 1-100 block of Oak Tree Court at around 12:40 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) used her debit card. The victim notified her bank.
Oct. 5-Oct. 8
Theft was reported in the 800 block of S. Mitchell. Police said an unknown suspect removed a concrete breaker hammer from the job site sometime between the above dates.
Oct. 7
Forgery was reported at a business in the 300 block of W. Lake at around 4:05 p.m. A complainant told police that a cashier for the business went into the business office to retrieve some $5 bills for her register drawer. One of the bills appeared to fraudulent. The $5 bill was placed into evidence for safekeeping.
Oct. 6
Attempted theft was reported in the 100 block of E. First at around 1:36 a.m. A victim told police that a suspect placed two beers in his pockets and left without paying for them. A female who was with the suspect stated she would pay for them. The female paid and left the store with the suspect. A reporting officer attempted to contact the suspect with no results. The victim signed a trespass notice which will be served.
Attempted theft was reported at a landscaping company in the 100 block of N. York at around 2:56 p.m. Police said officers responded to the above location for the report of a theft of a gas can. The reporting officer located the suspects. While speaking to the first suspect, the reporting officer observed him drop an unknown substance on the ground. Officers noticed a prescription bottle with pills belonging to the second suspect. Both suspects were placed under arrest and transported to the police station. The suspects were later released without charges, pending lab results.
Retail theft was reported at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at around 5:55 p.m. Police said officers spoke to the complainant who stated that four suspects described as black males entered the store and took two iPhones. The unknown suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction. This case is pending investigation.
Retail theft was reported at a store in the 100 block of E. Schiller at around 7:17 p.m. A person told police that a cashier made her aware of two male suspects who were exiting the store carrying packages of diapers, which they had not paid for. She described the suspects as black males between 30-50 years of age about 6 feet tall. The complainant stated the suspects fled from the store, loaded the merchandise into the vehicle, and then fled on Palmer towards York Road. This case is pending investigation.
Oct. 5
Theft was reported in the 600 block of N. York at around 6:22 p.m. A victim told police that he placed his sweatpants and a brown leather wallet in an unlocked locker at the above location. When he returned to retrieve his belongings, they were gone.
Oct. 2-Oct. 4
Burglary to a vehicle was reported in Maple Tree Court sometime between the above dates. A victim told police that an unknown suspect broke her rear driver’s side window while it was parked in her apartment parking lot. The victim stated there was cash possibly missing from the vehicle. ET duties were performed on the vehicle.
Sept. 29-Oct. 3
Identity theft was reported in the 100 block of S. York. A victim told police he was notified by his Discover Card credit monitoring service that an unknown suspect opened a Capital One credit account and a Menards credit card using the victim’s personal information sometime between the above dates. Both accounts were canceled prior to any account activity.
Sept. 28
Theft was reported in the 100 block of E. Third at around 8:48 a.m. A victim told police that while at work, four of her medications had been taken from her bag on two separate occasions. The victim related her bag was kept in a common area where multiple persons had access.
Sept. 26
Theft by deception was reported in the 100 block of N. York at around 2:44 p.m. A complainant told police that she made a transaction through Ebay for a Drone V3 Rescue. The item was delivered to the suspect’s address and suspect is disputing the
charge, stating he never received the item. Ebay and PayPal are currently investigating the incident.
Sept. 6
A victim in the 200 block of N. York told police at around 3:14 p.m. that an unknown suspect stole the rear license plate off of his vehicle on the above date. On Oct. 8, the victim was advised his stolen license plate was being used on another vehicle to commit crimes.
