The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Criminal damage, criminal defacement
Sept. 30
A victim in the 200 block of Oakland Grove told police at around 9:01 a.m. that he found a small window pane broken on the front interior door of his home.
Sept. 28
A victim in the 900 block of N. York told police at around 7:17 p.m. that words were scratched in the paint on the victim’s condo door. The victim believes her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend was responsible for the damage. The suspect was contacted and told police she did not cause the damage. The reporting officer was able to verify that the suspect was not in the area at the time of the incident.
Disorderly conduct
Oct. 3
A complainant in the 200 block of E. Butterfield to police at around 12:21 p.m. that a suspect came into a bank and began causing a scene because of a $5.45 McDonald’s charge on his account. The complainant attempted to explain to the suspect the charge was not from the day shown on the statement but the day prior. The suspect began threatening the employees at the Chase Bank and McDonalds. Charges are pending.
Oct. 2
A victim in the 300 block of W. Grand told police at around 2:16 p.m. that a suspect had threatened to harm him. The suspect denied threatening the victim and stated he was upset because his mom had spent five hours at the dealership before the vehicle purchase was denied. The suspect will be served with a trespass notice.
Sept. 30
Dustin Malarkey, 40, of Chicago, was issued a citation for disorderly conduct-befouling property in the 300 block of S. York at around 12:17 a.m. Police said that subsequent to a suspicious vehicle investigation, officers located a vehicle parked unoccupied but still running. Malarkey, the driver of the vehicle, returned to the vehicle and admitted to urinating in a stairwell, according to police.
Sept. 29
Lester C. Jehnke, 61, of Wheaton, was charged with disorderly conduct in the 100 block of N. York at around 9:14 p.m. Police said complainants related that Jehnke opened the door to the business, threw his laptop into the street and swung his arms around, almost hitting them. These actions alarmed and disturbed the complainants, police said. Jehnke was located and indicated he was angry at his laptop due to it not working correctly, according to police.

Oct. 3
Cory Ambrose, 35, of Algonquin, was charged with DUI and unlawful use of an electronic communication device near North and Route 83 at around 1:20 a.m.
Sept. 30
Silvestre Cardona, 41, of St. Charles, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage and no tail lights subsequent to a traffic stop near Emory and North at around 1:48 a.m.
Mark W. Matusiak, 39, of Bensenville, was charged with aggravated DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving while license suspended at disobeying a stop sign subsequent to at traffic stop in the 500 block of W. Lake at around 11:31 p.m.
Grzegorz Sukkienik, 30, of Villa Park, was charged with DUI-drugs, driving while license revoked and no insurance subsequent to the report of an intoxicated driver in the 600 block of W. North at around 7:43 a.m.
Sept. 27
Police said that subsequent to a three-car hit-and-run crash near Route 83 and the Elmhurst Chicago Stone Quarry at around 6:47 p.m., Leobardo Gutierrez, 37, of Chicago, fled the scene. He was located and stopped at Route 83 and 22nd Street. Gutierrez was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, no insurance and two counts of improper lane usage.
Harassment, threats
Oct. 3
Police said officers responded to a car dealership the 800 block of N. York at around 7:24 p.m. for the report of a customer dispute. Officers spoke to the suspect who stated he was upset that the salesmen would not issue an immediate refund for the down payment on a vehicle sale. The victim stated during the dispute, the suspect threatened to damage property. A matter of record.
Sept. 27
A victim in the 100 block of Mayo Court stated at around 12:25 p.m. she had two employees working at her house and reports one of the employees sent explicit text messages to her cell phone. The victim wishes to sign complaints.

Sept. 30
Dominic J. Ranieri, 19, of Villa Park, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis in the 700 block of S. Berkley at around 12:22 a.m.
Sept. 29
Yamilex Alonso, 19, of Chicago, was issued citations for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia, while Jose Borges, 18, of Chicago, was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia subsequent to a traffic stop near Maple at Second at around 8:37 p.m.
Antonio Ruffin, 32, of Chicago, was charged with possession of cannabis, driving while license suspended, no insurance and no seat belt subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Lake at around 10:10 p.m.
Khaila Williams, 19, of La Grange, was issue a citation for possession of cannabis subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Melrose at around 1:40 a.m.
Sept. 28
Dominic Gallo, 21, of Algonquin, and Jaden Llorens, 18, of Bourbonnais, were issued citations for possession of cannabis in the 100 block of S. Prospect at around 6:46 p.m.
Sept. 27
Jorge Pena, 32, of Chicago, was issue citations for possession of cannabis and failure to signal when required subsequent to a traffic stop near York and North at around 4:28 p.m.
Suspicious circumstances
Oct. 1
A victim in the 600 block of W. Fay told police at around 6:36 p.m. that he was alerted of a change in his bank account information. The victim believes his ex-wife is accessing his bank account without his permission. No fraudulent transactions were reported.
Sept. 29
Police said complainants in the 200 block of N. West Ave. said they saw an unknown suspect get out of his vehicle at around 4:50 p.m. and walk up to the victim. After getting into the suspect’s car, the victim was heard yelling for help. Streamwood officers located both subjects who said they had a verbal argument earlier but no physical altercation.
Theft/burglary/attempted theft or burglary/identity theft/fraud/forgery/deceptive practice/obstruction/robbery
Oct. 2-Oct. 3
Burglary was reported at a company near St. Charles and Route 83 between the above dates. A complainant told police that an unknown person(s) broke into his company’s locked construction trailer and removed several power and hand tools. The trailer was parked to the east of the Elmhurst water tower that is under construction.
Oct. 1
Theft was reported in the 600 block of N. York at around 6:15 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect removed his cell phone and cash from a secured locker at the above location. The phone was described as a silver iPhone X with a black leather case.
Sept. 30-Oct. 1
Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 200 block of E. Fullerton. A victim told police that he found items from his work van left on the driveway and his belt sander was taken. The victim was unsure if he had locked the vehicle or not. The unknown suspects also struck his other vehicle parked in the driveway causing damage.
Sept. 28
A victim at a restaurant in the 1000 block of S. York told police that an employee is suspected of allegedly stealing money from the business. The employee is suspected of allegedly selling product, stealing the customers’ cash payments, and then reporting to the restaurant that the customer had canceled the order and not received the product. Over the past two-week period, police said the suspect, Kenneth Heraty, 20, of Elmhurst, has canceled 44 food orders totaling $867.50. The suspect was interviewed and admitted to stealing the cash payments, according to police. Heraty was charged with felony theft.
Sept. 21
Burglary was reported in the 600 block of N. York at around 10:30 a.m. A victim told police that he secured his wallet in a gym locker. When he returned to the locker, the locker and lock were still intact but the victim noticed cash missing from his wallet. The victim later stated it was possible he left the locker unlocked for a short amount of time.
Violation of an order of protection
Sept. 28
Police said the subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Route 83 at around 7:26 p.m., a 32-year-old Melrose Park woman was found to have no valid driver’s license and an order of protection against Jesus Castro De La Torre, 25, of Melrose Park, a passenger in the vehicle. Police said Castro, who had also been observed driving prior to the traffic stop, was charged with violation of an order of protection, no valid driver’s license and no seat belt.
Warrant arrest
Sept. 30
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Meister at around 7:14 a.m., Jose Almaraz, 25, of Stickney, was found to have a suspended driver’s license and a valid warrant out of DuPage County Sheriff’s Office. He also was issue citations for driving while license suspended, failure to stop at a stop sign and no insurance.
