Let’s say the Democrats win back the House this November. They go ahead with drawing up articles of impeachment against Mr. Trump (provided they can actually find some legitimate grounds to do so) and vote to impeach him. For those of you who are so gung-ho about impeaching him, here’s a little civics lesson. You do realize, don’t you, that in order to actually get rid of Trump, it goes to the Senate for a trial, and it will require two-thirds of the Senate to remove him from office? Since the Republicans likely will keep control of the Senate, good luck with that. Here’s a better idea: Get a candidate for the 2020 election who’s not a far-left kook, and you probably have a good chance to win back the White House.
I am calling regarding the traffic study for the Helen Plum Library. It seems obvious to me that the study did not have the input of a handicapped person. Handicapped placards are issued to persons with impaired mobility. There are two handicapped spaces in front of the library. I have tried to visit the library and find that these spaces are occupied 90 percent of the time. The study showed that only 50 percent of users will drive their own vehicle to the library. Could it be because parking is so difficult? Stating that the adjacent area is highly walkable—for whom? Surely not people using walkers or canes. Did they take into consideration walking in the rain or the snow? I no longer visit the library unless a family member drops me off and picks me up.

If you have to quote scripture to convince us to not have a legal abortion, you’ve lost no matter how vividly you describe it. Women who don’t want abortions won’t have them. Keep your religious beliefs out of our laws; your beliefs shouldn’t restrict women’s rights to return to the dark days when the rich flew their daughters abroad for “vacations” where it’s legal and the poor brought unwanted children to term or resorted to coat hangers. The schedule for construction projects is often controlled by weather and contractor availability. All work performed on Wilson was performed in accordance with the contract and the work zone was inspected prior to the fireworks that took place in Madison Meadow Park on the night of July 4, 2018. In response to the call about District 88 requiring residency verification, I’m 75 years old and as long as I can remember there have been school districts. This has nothing to do with the Nazis. It has to do with being divided up so each district can carry at least the same amount of children so schools don’t become overcrowded. And if you live in that district, that’s the school you go to. If you choose to go a school out of your district, then you have pay out of pocket to go to that school. It’s got nothing to do with race. If you look at Glenbards East, North, West and South there are a myriad of children going to those schools. So, stop trying to blame the Democrats thinking they want verification or they’re turning the districts into something the Nazis did. It’s just not true.

To all the people who are complaining about the immigrant children being separated from their parents, and allegedly being kept in cages when they’re being given food, shelter, water and being tutored by our government, Google what Obama did when he told anyone sending their children to the border alone that they would be sent right back across the desert by themselves; no food, no water, no shelter, anything. I was just reading the July 26 SPEAK OUT and I kind of agree with the person complaining about the library. It’s a big joke and always has been, then I got to the other side of SPEAK OUT and see somebody wants to save Lufkin Pool. That’s another joke, but here, I’ve got one for you. Want to know where to get a Lufkin Pool sign? It will cost you $250 for 10 years and anybody else who wants one, I’ll be glad to sell you one for $250 but every year you’ve got to come to me for another one for the next 10 years.
Bravo to Saint Genesius Productions for its presentation of “Titanic–the Musical” at Willowbrook High School in July. The talented cast and crew put together an excellent show, and the orchestra was outstanding. It was great to have a live theatrical presentation here in Villa Park.
To the person who was complaining because someone said the people who voted for Trump are all stupid, well, maybe that’s too strong of a word but let’s put it this way: If these people voted for Trump, which they did, and they still follow him and they still believe in him then I would call them ignorant and uninformed. Because, if they can’t see and they can’t get their nose out of Fox News and see what this man is doing to our country, then they are ignorant. We are the laughingstock of the world, he has taken away everything that could protect our atmosphere, lands. The man is a menace to the United States of America. All you have to do if you wanted to is actually look into the things he has rescinded to protect our lands and to protect us. And you think it’s fine that he wants to follow in Putin’s footsteps.
Lombard calling. To the parents of the young boys who have started using the new Madison Meadow Fitness Center, you can be very proud of them. They are courteous, they are respectful and it’s great to see them playing basketball instead of on the computer. They’re a nice group of boys.
Trinity Lutheran School in Lombard wants to applaud and thank the Village of Lombard and Waste Management for their help with a recent recycling pick-up. This past spring, Trinity’s fifth- and sixth-grade class collected and constructed an igloo with approximately 675 one-gallon milk jugs. At the end of the school year we had the sad task of taking down the structure. A quick call to Village Manager Scott Niehaus put us in touch with Dave Gorman in Public Works who helped coordinate a special recycling pick-up with Waste Management. Marlon Dionisio of Waste Management coordinated with his drivers and made sure the milk jugs were picked up. We are blessed to be part of such a cooperative community.
To the person who said “ripping the children away from their parents is the whole problem” with immigration, whose responsibility is it that this had to happen? It’s the parents who put their kids in that situation. I’m all for kindness and compassion; just look at the work of World Relief in our county as one example which, to quote their website, partners “with the local church[es] and hundreds of individual volunteers to assist families who have fled war, torture, and persecution to achieve stability and healthy integration as they replant their lives in the United States.” Key words, churches and volunteers, not the government forcing me to pay for them but donations of my choosing. I’ve said this before. Some Hispanics who come through Mexico to reach America are escaping torture and persecution, according to news reports. But why are they allowed to cross Mexican borders, and why doesn’t the Mexican government help them? Oh, maybe because they don’t take care of their own people. And let’s not forget that others who would do us harm can just as easily blend in and slip into the United States.
I have a Villa Park issue which I have mentioned in SPEAK OUT one other time which produced absolutely no results. I refer to homeowners who are cutting their grass mainly on Thursday or Friday. I have toured many streets in the village and seen the same results: grass clippings all over the residents’ front yard street. I have witnessed police cars passing homeowners who are blowing grass into the street and the police car keeps on going, right on by. Lawn services are guilty of doing the same thing. As I read the village ordinance on the computer, I understand littering the street with grass clippings is a violation. Would it be too much for the police to insist on stopping the residents from littering? Thank you.
