The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Battery
June 4
A complainant at Washington Park told police at around 9:38 p.m. that a victim attempted to hug another child, and the mother of that child grabbed the victim’s arm to stop the victim. The complainant feels the amount of time the other parent held onto the victim’s arm was excessive. There were no visible injuries to the victim’s arm.
June 3
Police said officers responded to the report of a fight in progress in the 100 block of S. Prospect at around 5:39 p.m. Upon arrival, officers observed several people having a verbal and physical altercation. All parties calmed down, and while investigating further, one of the patrons involved passed out. Paramedics were called, and after regaining consciousness, the person who passed out was transported to Elmhurst Hospital for treatment. No arrests were made.

June 3
Victims in the 200 block of Elm told police that they heard something shatter the window at the northwest corner of the residence at around 11:40 p.m. They ran outside to check the area and did not see any vehicles or pedestrians near the residence.
June 2
A reporting officer responded to Jefferson School for a report of damage to a school sign at around 11:09 a.m. Upon arrival, the officer observed the large blue and orange Jefferson School sign had been damaged and was laying in the grass. An Elmhurst school district representative was contacted and advised of the damage.
Domestic battery, domestic incident, dispute, disturbance
June 5
Police said officers responded to the area of Grand Avenue and I-290 at around 11:32 a.m. for a domestic battery complaint where a male told police he was hit by a female. The caller then disconnected. Upon calling the number back, a female answered and stated she was out of her vehicle but she did not know where she was. The female stated she was “smacked.” The female then disconnected. None of the involved parties were able to be located.
June 4
A 20-year-old North Riverside man was charged with domestic battery near Route 83 and St. Charles at around 5:54 a.m. A reporting officer responded for a physical domestic, where the suspect allegedly had battered his girlfriend.
June 3
A victim in the 300 block of W. St. Charles told police at around 5:07 p.m. that while she attempted to see her daughter and her mother, suspects came up to her, began yelling, then shoved her. The suspects related the victim started an argument and they were trying to protect their mother from the victim. Due to conflicting stories, no arrests were made at this time.

June 3
Police said officers responded to a call for a disturbance and met with suspect James Kaczmarczyk, 20, of North Riverside, and a witness who advised they were at a party in an apartment complex in the 300 block of S. Berkley when an altercation ensued at around 4:02 a.m., and Kaczmarczyk was reportedly struck in the head by another male suspect. Kaczmarczyk was issued citations for public intoxication and consumption of alcohol by a minor. Cienna Neag, 20, of Oak Park, was issued a citation for consumption of alcohol by a minor. Officers were unable to make contact with the male suspect.
June 2
Grant T. Newport, 32, of Bensenville, was charged with DUI and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Lake at around 1:16 a.m.
Police said that while an officer was on patrol in the 600 block of W. North at around 12:01 a.m., the officer observed two parked vehicles in a closed business parking lot, and one of the vehicles appeared to be occupied. Nestor L. Sanchez, 49, of Forest Park, was located behind the driver’s seat, according to police. Police said a consent search of the vehicle yielded a 3/4 full open beer can. Sanchez was issued a citation for open liquor in a vehicle.
Police said an officer responded for a report of a DUI driver in the 400 block of N. York at around 9:38 p.m. The suspect was arrested for DUI. A search of the suspect yielded a rolled-up dollar bill containing a white powdery residue, according to police. The suspect was released without charges pending lab results.
June 1
Michael Matykiewicz, 43, of Elmhurst, was issued citations for DUI and improper parking in a roadway subsequent to a call for a suspicious vehicle parked at an intersection near First and Addison at around 2:36 a.m.
Harassment, threats
Jan. 1-June 5
A victim in the 700 block of S. Bryan told police he has been continually receiving harassing telephone messages from his ex-girlfriend. The victim does not want to sign complaints. The suspect agreed to cease all contact.
June 2
Police said a suspect in the 100 block of W. Madison used Facebook Messenger to contact a complainant regarding some items he wanted returned. The complainant told him to come and get them, and the suspect responded with negative comments and threats. A reporting officer attempted to talk to the suspect; however the suspect hung up. The complainant was advised to call 911 if the suspect came to their home.
Possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance
June 6
Korei M. Irvin, 24, of Chicago, was issued citations for possession of cannabis, failure to secure a child and no lights when required subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Willow at around 2:12 a.m.
Police said an agent for the victim’s company reported a subject refusing to leave the property. Gino Pisellini, 31, of Itasca was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, according to police. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and was issued a trespass notice.
Tyra Vernon, 19, of Bellwood, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, no valid driver’s license, no rear registration plate and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near Roosevelt and York at around 11:48 p.m.
June 5
Deandre C. Thomas, 25, of Chicago, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, no tail lights, no insurance and a loud muffler near Holly and St. Charles at around 2:22 a.m. Police said the subsequent to a traffic stop, a search of Thomas’ vehicle yielded cannabis and MDMA.
June 3
Jason E. Tripoli, 32, of Homewood, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis subsequent to a report of a suspicious person in the 100 block of W. First at around 3:34 p.m.
June 2
Daniel Loe, 27, of Elmhurst, was charged with possession of cannabis, driving while license suspended, expired registration and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near County Line and Grand at around 2:41 a.m.
June 1
Ladarren D. Paxton, 20, of Willowbrook, was issued citations for possession of cannabis and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop in the 200 block of Illinois at around 1:52 a.m.
May 31
John J. Floro, 23, of Bloomingdale, was issued citations for possession of cannabis, no insurance and no seat belt subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Industrial at around 7:11 p.m.
Suspicious circumstances
June 6
A complainant in the 800 block of S. Poplar told police at around 8:25 p.m. that she is house sitting, and a solicitor came to the house on two separate occasions. The solicitor remained on the property for a few minutes, and did not visit any neighbor’s homes. The responding officer will check with City Hall to see if any solicitors were supposed to be in the area.
June 3
Police said officers responded to a call for people swimming at an Elmhurst Park District pool in the 400 block of E. Schiller after hours. Officers observed two juveniles kneeling next to the diving board and another in the pool. All three were issued citations for trespassing and released to their parents.
May 31
Police said that subsequent to a theft of tires/wheels which occurred in Lombard, an officer located the suspect’s vehicle near Roosevelt and I-290 at around 4:51 a.m., and conducted a traffic stop. During the stop the suspect’s vehicle was involved in a minor crash with a police vehicle. All three of the vehicle’s occupants were arrested and turned over to the custody of the Lombard Police Department.
Illinois State Police completed a traffic crash report and issued the suspect a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and no insurance.
May 29
A complainant in the 200 block of S. Berkley told police at around 9:25 a.m. that she has been receiving phone calls with no one speaking on the other line. In addition, an unknown person has been ringing her doorbell in the early morning hours.

June 4
Identity theft was reported in the 900 block of S. Colfax at around 4:08 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect opened a Verizon phone line under her name.
Police said officers responded for an identity theft that just occurred at an auto dealership in the 200 block of W. Grand at around 6:16 p.m. Police said officers received information from the complainant, who related that one of the dealer’s vehicles was fraudulently purchased. An investigation is pending.
June 2-June 3
A complainant in the 600 block of W. North advised that his company’s trailer was parked in the Diplomat West parking lot during the above dates. A witness contacted an employee of the company and related she observed a suspect enter the trailer. The complainant advised nothing appeared to be missing from the trailer at this time.
June 1
Identity theft was reported in the 300 block of N. Ridgeland. A victim told police that she received a pop-up message on her computer to contact an 800 number to resolve her computer issue. She contacted the number, let the individual gain access to her computer and gave her credit card number so it could be charged for services to fix her computer. The victim then grew suspicious, and called Apple Support which advised her that the callers were fraudulent. The victim contacted her credit card company, and was advised her credit card had not been charged and her card was canceled.
May 31
Police said officers responded to the 400 block of S. Spring at around 3:33 p.m. for a report of a theft that had just occurred at an auto parts store. A complainant told police that Terrell Aldridge, 35, of Chicago, walked out with a can of A/C Pro. According to police, Aldridge was later located, charged with retail theft, illegal transportation of alcohol and driving while license suspended.
A complainant at a bank in the 300 block of S. Route 83 told police around 11:42 a.m. that two suspects came to the bank and time and used a “quick change” scheme. An investigation is pending.
A victim in the 1200 block of S. Prospect told police at around 10:55 a.m. that her bank statement showed a check she did not write had been cashed. The victim stated she had checks missing from her checkbook. She suspects a former employee fraudulently cashed the checks. This case is pending investigation.
May 29
Identity theft was reported at around 8:24 a.m. A victim told police that he received an e-mail from Chase Bank stating they received a request to add a user on his Chase credit card account. The victim advised Chase that he does not know this suspect and he never authorized this transaction. Chase had also mailed a credit card to the suspect. The victim’s credit card was canceled and no unauthorized charges have been made.
May 25
Theft of unattended property was reported in the 400 block of W. Butterfield at around 2:45 p.m. Police said a complainant came into the station to report while he was doing yard work, he placed his vape pen on the sidewalk walkway of his home. He walked away for a few minutes, and when he returned, the vape pen was gone. The two suspects were described as white males around 15 years old. One was 5-8, 160 pounds with brown hair, wearing gray shorts and no shirt. The second was around 5-8 to 5-10, 200 pounds with blond hair and wearing white gym shorts and a gray T-shirt.
Unlawful use of a weapon
June 6
Police said officers responded to the area of I-290 and N. York at around 5:19 a.m. for an ISPERN message regarding an unlawful use of a weapon where William Morataya, 45, of Bloomingdale, displayed a handgun to a victim while driving on I-290. Both subjects eventually exited onto N. York where police said Morataya eventually crashed into another vehicle. He was eventually stopped and placed under arrest. He was issued citations for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and no insurance. He was released into the custody of the Illinois State Police regarding the unlawful use of a weapon.
Warrant arrest
June 3
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near Schiller and Willow at around 2:05 a.m., Maribel Bueno, 23, of Chicago, was found to be DUI. A search of the vehicle yielded two cannabis smoking pipes, according to police. Maribel was charged with DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia and disobeying a stop sign. Cesar O. Bueno, 22, of Chicago, a passenger in the vehicle, was found to have an active warrant out of the Cook County Sheriff’s Office and an active order of protection with Maribel as the protected person. Cesar Bueno charged with violation of an order of protection and transported to DuPage County Jail on the warrant and VOOP charge.
