The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Criminal damage, criminal defacement
April 1
A victim in the 100 block of S. Prospect told police at around 9:41 a.m. that after a traffic incident where a vehicle honked at her, the victim parked her vehicle next to the vehicle from the incident. Upon returning to her vehicle, there was a 3-inch scratch on the trunk, which was possibly made with a key. The complainant did not wish to sign complaints.
March 30-March 31
A complainant in the 900 block of S. Hawthorne Ave. told police at around 12:24 p.m. that an unknown suspect(s) damaged a walkway lantern with a masonry brick.
A victim in the 900 block of S. Hawthorne told police that between 11 p.m. March 30 and 11 a.m. March 31, an unknown suspect(s) damaged the fixed walkway lantern with a masonry brick. The brick was in the lawn adjacent to the damaged lantern.
Residents in the 900 block of S. Hawthorne told police that sometime between 12 midnight and 11 a.m., an unknown suspect(s) damaged the fixed walkway lantern with a masonry brick. The brick was located in the lawn adjacent to the damaged lantern.
A victim in the 800 block of S. Cedar told police at around 7:42 p.m. that an unknown suspect(s) damaged his flag pole light and flag pole.
Domestic battery, domestic incident, disturbance
April 2
A 24-year-old Elmhurst woman was charged with domestic battery in the 600 block of N. West at around 7:49 p.m. A complainant told police that the suspect was out of control, broke a plate, and pushed the victim.
April 1
A 32-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with domestic battery in the 1-100 block of Elm Creek Drive at around 1:02 a.m. Police said officers observed scratches to the victim’s body, which were caused by the suspect during an argument.

April 1
Tyran D. Smith, 34, of Harvey, was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, improper lane usage and driving without headlights when required subsequent to a traffic stop near North and West at around 3:53 a.m.
March 31
Lashonna T. Glover, 39, of Chicago, was charged with DUI and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Northwest at around 11:39 p.m.
March 30
Gregory Fry, 58, of Bensenville, was charged with DUI, disobeying a traffic control device and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near Grand and Church at around 1:05 a.m.
Harassment, threats
March 26-April 4
A victim in the 200 block of S. Poplar reported to police receiving numerous phone calls and text messages from an unknown female between the above dates. The caller asked the victim personal questions and implied that the victim had had a relationship with the caller’s husband. The victim blocked the caller’s phone number from her phone.
March 30
A victim in the 200 block of e. Oneida told police at around 10;06 p.m. that her ex-boyfriend has been harassing her by contacting her via different social media platforms asking for an explanation for their break-up in May, 2017. The victim wants the suspect to stop contacting her, and a message was left by the reporting officer.
Possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance
April 1
Sydney A. Russo, 20, and Ivan Valle, 21, both of Elgin, were each issued citations for possession of cannabis subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and St. Charles at around 12:21 a.m. A passenger in the vehicle, Tiffany R. Russo, 23, of Elgin, had an active warrant out of Elgin, according to police. Another passenger was found to be in possession of cannabis, a cannabis smoking pipe, and pills for which she did not have a prescription, according to police. The passenger was placed under arrest and was released without charges pending lab results.
March 31
Thomas Morrissey, 18, of Elmhurst, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis subsequent to a traffic stop near Fremont and Oak at around 12:50 a.m.
Michael Wales, 21, of Franklin Park, was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia subsequent to a roadside safety check near Grand and Church at around 12:21 a.m.
March 30
Keara S. Ingram, 26, of Chicago, was charged with possession of cannabis, driving while license suspended, expired registration and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Berteau at around 5:43 p.m.
March 29
Lorenzo A. Deluca-Rodriguez, 18, of Elgin, was issued citations for possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and I-290 at around 1:52 a.m.
Suspicious circumstances
April 2
A witness in the 300 block of N. Maple told police they observed a suspect walking around her neighbor’s home at approximately 11 a.m. The suspect then got in her vehicle, and sat for awhile before she left the area. The witness has never seen the person before.
March 31
A complainant at a school in the 200 block of S. Fair told police at around 4 p.m. that her daughter and two of her friends were playing at the school grounds. A white sedan pulled up and parked next to the field where the girls were playing. The vehicle was occupied by one male subject wearing a black/gray hoodie. The subject reportedly stepped out of the sedan, walked towards the baseball field, and used a stick to write in the sand of the baseball field, “Go to King Wall,” with an arrow in the sand that pointed towards the school building. The girls erased the writing by foot and went home. The girls returned to the area approximately 30 minutes later and the vehicle was gone, but the message had been re-written in the sand. The suspect was described as a white male approximately 20 years old with short black hair, a thin build, wearing a black/gray hoodie, blue jeans and sneakers.
Theft/burglary/attempted theft or burglary/identity theft/fraud/forgery/deceptive practice/obstruction/robbery
April 4
Edward Giles, 26, of Addison, was charged with felony burglary to a vehicle and felony criminal trespass to a vehicle in the 100 block of Adelia at around 1:38 p.m. Police said officers responded to the above location for the report of a vehicle burglary. Officers spoke to the victim who stated he confronted Giles after he found him in the victim’s van, according to police. Police said Giles took two personal checks from the van and fled on foot. Officers located Giles and placed him under arrest.
Claudia Rivas-Gomez, 22, of Bensenville, was charged with attempted possession of fraudulent identification and driving while license suspended subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Route 83 at around 5:48 p.m. Police said the suspect was found to be driving while license suspended, placed under arrest and transported to the police department. Upon further investigation it was found that the suspect was in possession of a fraudulent Social Security Card, according to police.
April 1-April 3
Identity theft was reported in the 700 block of Colfax between the above dates. A victim told police she was alerted by TCF Bank of eight unauthorized charges on her debit card at various western suburban businesses. The victim has the physical card in her possession.
March 31
Attempted retail theft was reported at a store in the 200 block of S. Route 83 at around 2:04 p.m. Someone from a security protection company was working in a mall when they noticed a shoplifter in a store. They had been recognized as an individual known to commit prior retail thefts at other similar stores so the security guards suspicions were high. The suspect allegedly filled three large bags with cases of water and several bottles of alcohol. The suspect became aware he was being watched and left the bags at the register, walked out of the store, and fled in an orange and yellow U-Haul box truck.
The suspected forgery was reported at a business in the 100 block of W. Vallette at around 3:16 p.m. Police said an officer responded to a report of a woman using a counterfeit $20 bill to pay for an item at the business. After further investigation, the suspect was located and states she was unaware the $20 bill was counterfeit. The suspect works at a coffee shop and was given the $20 bill as part of her tips. The suspect will return to the store and repay for the item bought.
Unlawful use of a credit card was reported at a restaurant in the 200 block of S. Route 83 at around 12:25 p.m. A victim told police that he is unable to locate his debit card. He went to his bank to cancel the debit card, and learned that an unknown suspect(s) attempted to use his card. The attempted transaction was declined and the victim suffered no dollar loss.
March 30
Attempted theft by deception was reported in the 700 block of W. Alexander at around 2:55 p.m. A complainant told police that he posted an ad on Craigslist, in which he was selling a guitar amplifier. An interested party sent a fraudulent check to purchase to item. Chase Bank detected the check was fraudulent and froze the complainant’s bank account. The complainant was not out any money.
March 26-March 28
Identity theft was reported in the 700 block of S. Parkside. A victim told police he was going over his checking account on March 28 and observed that cash was transferred out of his account. The victim’s checking account was cancelled.
March 24
A victim in the 400 block of W. Montrose told police at around 7:23 p.m. that she returned from vacation to find her vehicle’s odometer had increased and smelled heavily of cannabis. A family member’s medication was also missing from the home. The victim learned that a family member allowed the suspect to stay at the home while the family was on vacation. An investigation is pending.
Feb. 21
A complainant who works loss prevention for a company in the 600 block of W. North, told police at around 9:18 a.m. that a check was cashed at their location which was later returned for insufficient funds. The suspects were notified with certified mail demanding payment within 30 days; however, the suspects have not made contact with the company.
Warrant arrest
April 4
Police said Alex Mondragon, 50, of Villa Park, came into the police station at around 7:05 p.m. to surrender himself on a warrant out of the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office.
March 31
Police said Dawn E. Conway, 45, of Addison, turned herself in at the Elmhurst Police Station at around 12:33 p.m. on a warrant out of DuPage County.
