The York wrestling team was third at the recent Class 3A Leyden regional and had numerous individuals earn sectional bids.
York finished with 136 points. Addison Trail was second with 162 and Oak Park-River Forest won the team title with 281.5 points.
Matt Cozzi is headed to sectionals after taking second at 126. The sophomore brings a 22-18 record into this weekend’s competition.
Jason Lewis also is headed to sectionals after placing second at 138. He is now 9-7.
Anthony Cozzi was second at 152 pounds. Cozzi, a senior, now is 22-13. Jake Smallwood also was second at 160. Smallwood moved to 24-12.
Zach Armstrong placed third at 170 pounds. Armstrong won a major decision in the third-place match (11-2) and now has 17 wins.
