The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are re-minded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Assault
Dec. 15
Paul Cirone, 56, of Elmhurst, was charged with aggravated assault at a tavern in the 100 block of N. Addison at around 11:58 p.m. Police said officers respond-ed for a man with a weapon at the tavern. According to police, a victim told them that Cirone pulled a knife during an argument. Cirone was located at his residence and admitted to pulling the knife, according to police.
Battery
Dec. 17
A reporting officer responded for the report of battery to a hospital employ-ee in the 100 block of E. Brush Hill at around 11:27 p.m. The victim reports that the suspect, who is a patient, was being placed into re-straints when she kicked the victim. Charges are pending at this time.
Dec. 16
Diane Carlson, 68, of Northlake, was issued a citation for battery in the 100 block of N. York at around 5:54 p.m. Police said that subsequent to a medic assist, Carlson was uncooperative with medics. Medics stated while checking Carlson, she struck a paramedic on the left side of her head, according to police.
Criminal damage to property, criminal trespass to property
Dec. 16
A victim near Schiller and Commerce told police at around 1:38 a.m. that the rear license plate on his parked vehicle had been broken off and the license plate was bent.
Police said a reporting officer was flagged down in the 100 block of N. York at around 1:49 a.m. and was told that an unknown male suspect broke the window of a downtown bank. The officer observed the damage; however, the suspect was gone. An investigation is pending.
Dec. 15-Dec. 16
Police said that the north-east corner of a sign was cracked in half and a newly planted tree was bent over at a childhood center in the 100 block of W. Madison be-tween the above dates.
Disorderly conduct
Dec. 19
Robert Baldwin, 68, of Bensenville, was issued a citation for disorderly con-duct near North and York at around 10:21 a.m. Police said officers were dispatched to assist medics with Baldwin, who was intoxicated and had fallen on the sidewalk.
Domestic battery, domestic incident
Dec. 17
Police said officers responded for a possible domestic disturbance involving a gun at Elm Creek Drive at around 9:13 p.m. Upon arrival, witnesses stated they observed a black female and a black male physically fighting in the hallway. They stated they observed the female reach towards her ankle, believing she was pulling a gun, but never actually saw a gun. The area was checked with no results for either subject.
DUI, DUI-drugs, illegal consumption or possession of alcohol by a minor, illegal transportation or poseesion of open alcohol
Dec. 20
Keshonenford, 21, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, improper lane usage and no insurance subsequent to a crash investigation near West and Fellows at around 12:50 a.m.
Dec. 18
Police said that subsequent to a call for a driver slumped over the wheel near Route 83 and St. Charles at around 5:35 a.m., Melissa Ibarra, 22, of Hillside, was located and found to be DUI. Ibarra was charged with DUI, posses-sion of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, ob-structing traffic and no insur-ance.
Ashley Sopoci, 24, of Villa Park, was issued citations for possession of cannabis and illegal transportation of alcohol near Villa and Albert at around 4:48 p.m. Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop, a strong odor of cannabis was emitting from the vehicle. The driver and Sopoci, the passenger, exited the vehicle and Sopoci hand-ed a reporting officer a half full bottle of beer and a small amount of cannabis, accord-ing to police.
Dec. 17
Diana Dobrilla, 47, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI, failure to signal and improper lane usage subse-quent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and North at around 1:03 a.m.
Nahum Figueroa, 26, of Glendale Heights, was charged with DUI and driving too fast for conditions subsequent to an accident in the 400 block of W. North at around 4:57 a.m.
Dec. 15
David Hernandez, 38, of Whiting, Ind., was charged with DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, disobeying a traffic control device and no insurance subsequent to an accident near Route 83 and North at around 10:58 p.m.
Dec. 14
Rafael Figueroa-Montel, 36, of Glendale Heights, was charged with two counts of DUI and improper lane usage subsequent to an accident near Route 83 and Second at around 6:32 p.m.
Possession of cannabis, drug paraphernalia, controlled substance
Dec. 18
Police said that while a reporting officer was on patrol in the parking lot of a store in the 600 block of N. York at around 12:49 p.m., the officer observed the driver of a white Honda Accord blow smoke out of the open window. The smell of burnt cannabis was in the air and contact was made Albano Kapino, 26, of Elmwood Park, according to police. Kapino was found to be in possession of cannabis, police said, and was issued a citation for possession of cannabis.

Alvaro Arzate, 20, of Northlake, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near Berteau Avenue and Joanne Way at around 6:04 p.m. Police said a reporting officer detected a strong odor of cannabis. A K-9 search was performed and cannabis and cocaine was located, according to police.
Dec. 16
Police said officers and medics responded for a possible overdose in the 800 block of N. York at around 11:09 p.m. Upon arrival, the victim was located outside and stated he injected one bag of heroin. The victim was taken to Elmhurst Hospital by medics for treatment.
Dec. 15
Andrea Balbuena, 18, of Bensenville, was issued cita-tions for possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to signal, while a juvenile was cited for possession of can-nabis, subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Third at around 10:06 p.m.
Nathaniel L. Booker, 20, of Aurora, was issued citations for possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcohol by a minor at Elmhurst College at around 1:53 p.m. Police said a re-porting officer responded after Elmhurst College called, stating they located cannabis, drug paraphernalia, and alcohol in a dorm room belonging to Booker.
Suspicious circumstances
Dec. 19
A complainant in the 300 block of N. River Glen told police at around 5:47 p.m. that as she was pulling into her driveway, she observed an unknown male Hispanic suspect approximately 30 years old standing near her garage. She yelled at the suspect who then left the area on a bicycle. The complainant later located an opened UPS shipment box in her yard.
Nov. 27
A complainant from Oak Tree Court came into the station at around 12 noon to report that an unknown sus-pect(s) had changed his mailing address with the United States Post Office to an ad-dress in Florida. The Post Office required a police re-port before they could change the address back to his cur-rent address. The complain-ant has not had any monetary loss.

Dec. 18-Dec. 29
Theft of vehicle parts was reported in the 800 block of Riverside Drive. A victim told police that a white plas-tic engine hood, two white plastic fenders and a turbo charger from the truck’s en-gine were stolen between the above dates. There was also damage to the passenger door lock. In addition, victim stat-ed sometime between the above dates, truck parts were stolen off his trucks. The victim has two trucks where a silver front bumper push bar was taken along with one white plastic fender. On the second truck, plastic fender pieces and the truck’s engine turbo charger also were stolen.
Dec. 19
A victim in the 600 block of W. North Ave. told police at around 2:48 a.m. that they received an order for 10 large pizzas to be delivered to a business in Stone Park. Upon arrival to the establishment, the hostess stated they never placed the order. An investi-gation is pending.
Theft was reported in the 800 block of S. York at around 3:07 p.m. A Stihl handheld concrete saw was stolen from the parkway near the listed address.
Residential burglary was reported in the 100 block of Fellows Court at around 6:39 a.m. A victim told police that when she returned to her apartment she noticed the front door was unlocked, a closet door was open, and cash was missing from her residence.
Dec. 18
A victim in the 500 block of W. Grand told police at around 12:53 p.m. that a suspect took cash out of his wal-let that was inside his vehicle.
Dec. 16
Retail theft was reported in the 600 block of N. York at around 4:57 p.m. Police said that subsequent to a re-tail theft, a suspect described as a white male wearing a black jacket, a gray hoodie, a black baseball cap and gray pants was last seen running northbound on York to east-bound Fullerton. The suspect was seen in the area and fled from officers. The area was checked with no results.
A victim in the 300 block of E. Huntington Lane told police at around 11:45 a.m. that she received an email alert from her credit monitor-ing service. The alert advised that an unknown suspect opened a Meijer credit card account using the victim’s personal identifying infor-mation.
Identity theft was reported in the 200 block of N. Addison at around midnight. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) cashed a check posing as the victim at Bank of America. The suspect(s) then withdrew cash from her savings account at the same bank.
Dec. 15
Theft to a vehicle was reported in the 500 block of W. North at around 7:52 a.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect entered her unlocked Chevrolet Tahoe that was parked on the north side of the parking lot. Taken was her gray backpack from the front seat.
Theft was reported at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at around 6:39 p.m. The store’s loss prevention advised a reporting officer they had a customer who was reporting a theft of her purse. The victim stated while shopping she placed her purse in her shopping cart and it was taken from her cart by an unknown suspect(s).
Dec. 14
Identity theft was reported in the 500 block of E. Adams at around 11:54 a.m. A victim told police than an un-known suspect used his U.S. Bank Visa debit card to make unauthorized purchases online.
Dec. 7
A complainant in the 500 block of W. Lake told police that a company sold a vehicle to a suspect which he was going finance. The bank notified the dealership the pay stubs that were submitted for the loan were not valid. The suspect has since made con-tact with the dealership to handle the issue. An investigation is pending.
Nov. 11
A victim in the 500 block of N. Emory told police at around 9:38 a.m. he had several unauthorized charges on his Chase Visa credit card. The charges were from Walmart online. The victim has cancelled his credit card.
Aug. 26-Nov. 1
A complainant at a church in the 100 block of E. Third told police that a suspect has been using the church’s credit card over the past few months for unauthorized purchases. Additional investigation is pending.
Oct. 11-Oct. 29
A complainant in the 400 block of W. St. Charles ad-vised she was notified by her bank that someone had made several unauthorized purchases on her credit card between the above dates. She was advised to file a police report and has since closed the account.
April 1-Aug. 14
Identity theft was reported between the above dates in the 600 block of S. Washing-ton. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) purchased a Comcast Service using his name and Social Security number.
Unlawful use of a weapon
Dec. 14
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near St. Charles and Route 53 at around 3:46 a.m., both vic-tims reported that the victim’s ex-boyfriend, the suspect, had followed them from the area of the victim’s residence and pointed a gun at them from his green Toyota 4Runner. The victims stated they went through the red light in an effort to get away. The victims came into the police department to make a report but declined to sign complaints.
