The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Battery
Dec. 9
A victim near York and Second told police that he was approached by two Hispanic males who punched the victim in the face. The suspects were last seen headed west on Second from York. The first suspect was described as being 5’10”, around 200 pounds, wearing a red and black flannel over a black hoodie and dark colored sweatpants. The second suspect was described as being 5’10” and around 160 pounds wearing unknown clothing.
Dec. 8
A victim in the 100 block of Victory Parkway told police at around 12:45 p.m. that he was punched several times in the face and the back of the head by a suspect, according to police. The suspect admitted to punching the victim, was arrested for battery and released pending a disposition, police said. Both parents were contacted regarding the incident.
Criminal damage to property, criminal trespass to property
Dec. 10-Dec. 11
Criminal damage to property was reported in the 100 block of N. Maple. A victim told police that unknown suspects cut her outdoor Christmas lights sometime between the above dates.
Dec. 7
A victim in the 400 block of Alma told police at around 11:29 p.m. that an unknown suspect shattered the side mirror on his parked vehicle. The victim believes the suspect broke his mirror after becoming involved in a Snapchat argument.
Disorderly conduct
Dec. 8
Police said officers responded to a report of Paul Cirone, 56, of Elmhurst, who was allegedly intoxicated and climbing the Christmas tree in the City Centre at around 8:02 p.m. According to police, Cirone was located and ordered out of the tree, was intoxicated and in possession of open alcohol. He was charged with possession of open alcohol on public property and disorderly conduct-public intoxication.
Dec. 4-Dec. 8
A complainant in the 500 block of E. Grand Ave. told police that a suspect made threatening statements to her between the above dates, and again made a statement to a co-worker regarding the complainant on Dec. 8. The suspect stated he would have no contact with the complainant as he no longer works there.
Domestic battery, domestic incident
Dec. 13
Domestic battery was reported at around 12:08 p.m. A victim told police that her son became agitated and began throwing things around the house. He then placed the victim into a headlock and when she attempted to get away, she fell to the floor. Charges are pending.

Dec. 9
Jose F. Ich-Cuc, 38, of Palatine, was charged with DUI and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop in the 600 block of W. Grand at around 4:46 p.m.
Carlos Vales-Sepulveda, 46, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage, failure to signal and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near St. Charles and York at around 12:14 a.m.
Elder abuse
Dec. 13
A complainant told police at around 9:19 p.m. that a suspect has been verbally abusing the victim. The case is pending investigation.

Dec. 12
Jessica J. Vandermeir, 30, of Glen Ellyn, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Fremont at around 7:25 p.m.
Dec. 11
Rommel J.D. Bautista, 18, of Bensenville; and Tyvell O. Slater, 18, of Chicago, were issued citations for possession of cannabis subsequent to a traffic stop near N. York and Palmer at around 4 p.m., while Stephen G. Suntrup, 18, of St. Louis; Christopher A. Watkins, 19, of Salem, Ill.; and Joshua A. Zawislak, 19, of Glen Ellyn, were issued citations for possession of cannabis and no seat belts.
Dec. 9
AjronVerma, 21 of Berkeley, and Adam Skowronski, 18, of Elmhurst, were both issued citations for possession of cannabis subsequent to a suspicious vehicle in the 100 block of N. Addison at around 10:01 p.m.
Dec. 8
Kevin Perreault, 40, of Glendale Heights, was issued citations for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia, while Hillary Stark, 24, of Alsip, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia subsequent to a suspicious vehicle in the 500 block of W. Grand at around 10:01 p.m.
Dec. 7
Police said a reporting officer responded to Elmhurst College for a complaint of a smell of burnt cannabis at around 5:02 p.m. Security for Elmhurst College reports they noticed the strong odor and made contact with Jonathon E. Chung, 18, of Winnetka, who admitted to smoking cannabis, according to police. Police said Elmhurst College security recovered a bag of suspect cannabis, a metal pipe and rolling papers from the suspect, who was issued citations for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near I-290 and York at around 4:38 p.m., Xavier Hernandez, 39, of Wood Dale, was found to be in possession of used hypodermic syringes and a heroin cooker with residue. The residue tested positive for heroin, according to police. Hernandez was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, illegal possession of syringes, unlawful display of registration and no insurance.
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Belden at around 10:36 a.m., Robert T. Ptak Jr., 44, of Romeoville, exited the vehicle and ran from police. After a foot pursuit, the offender was apprehended and was found to be in possession of cocaine, cannabis and cash, according to police. He was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and speeding.
Anthony Taylor, 36, of Broadview, was charged with possession of cannabis, driving while license suspended and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Roosevelt at around 2:43 a.m.
Suspicious circumstances
Dec. 10
Police said officers responded to a report of an attempted burglary to a vehicle after the victim heard his car alarm go off. The reporting officer had the victim reset the alarm and then attempted to set it off by pulling the door handles. The alarm did not sound during these attempts. It is unknown why the alarm sounded at this time.

Dec. 13
PetarJunkovic, 22, of Harwood Heights and Anthony Oplinger, 22, of Wood Dale, were charged with retail theft at a store in the 600 block of N. York at around 4:39 p.m. Police said that while on patrol at the store, a reporting officer observed two suspects exit the store, one of which was pushing a cart. The suspects were followed out of the store by an employee. The reporting officer made contact with the suspects who admitted to stealing items, according to police.
Police said that subsequent to an occupied suspicious vehicle in the 600 block of N. York at around 5:29 p.m., the vehicle was found to be stolen out of Addison. The driver of the vehicle, Miguel Resendez-Revele, 26, of Addison, exited a store a short time later with two baskets filled with stolen alcohol, according to police. Both Resendez-Revele and Hugo Justo, 40, of Carol Stream, were taken into custody and transported to the station, police said. Resendez-Revele was charged with felony possession of a stolen vehicle and two counts of felony retail theft. The passenger, Justo, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Retail theft was reported at a store in the 100 block of E. First St. at around 5:13 p.m. A complainant, a store employee, told police that an unknown suspect(s) removed a red Craftsman Snow Blower from in front of the store.
Dec. 12
Theft was reported in the 900 block of N. Virginia Lane at around 1:53 p.m. A victim told police that the suspect, a family friend, stole her Xbox One from her bedroom. An investigation is pending.
Retail theft was reported at a store in the 600 block of N. York at around 2:10 p.m. A complainant told police that he observed a suspect exit the store with alcohol and other items without paying for them. The suspect entered a black older model Honda being driven by an elderly male. The vehicle had damage to the rear bumper and the trunk was being held closed with a cable.
Burglary to a vehicle was reported near First and Maple at around 5:51 p.m. A victim told police that while she was inside a recreational facility, an unknown suspect(s) broke the rear passenger side window of her vehicle and stole her purse and its contents. Several unauthorized charges occurred on the victim’s credit cards at aWalmart and Game Stop in Northlake. The victim was able to cancel her credit cards.
Nov. 28-Dec. 12
Identity theft was reported at Elm Creek at around 12:36 p.m. A victim told police that several of his credit card accounts were compromised as well as his AT&T account between the above dates. Numerous charges were made on multiple credit cards and reward accounts.
Dec. 11
Attempted burglary was reported at a business in the 200 block of W. Diversey at around 4:33 p.m. A complainant told police that he encountered 2 males in the garage who were loading discarded truck batteries into their vehicle. When confronted, they said they had been given permission to take whatever they needed. They fled the area without the batteries.
Theft was reported in the 100 block of S. Arlington at around 8:25 a.m. A victim told police that he had a package delivered to his apartment complex. When the victim went to look for the package, it was not there.
Dec. 10
Burglary was reported at a fitness facility in the 600 block of N. York at around 1:01 p.m. A victim told police than an unknown suspect(s) entered his locker and removed cash, his driver’s license and his FOID card. The victim reports that the locker was secured with a combination lock.
Identity theft was reported in the 600 block of W. Armitage Ave. at around 1:29 p.m. A victim told police that he received an e-mail from Xfinity Mobile, with an order for two Samsung Galaxy S8+ cell phones that was being processed. The victim does not have an Xfinity account and believes his information was used fraudulently.
Theft was reported in the 100 block of Addison at around 10:21 a.m. Police said officers responded to the above address to inquire about a scrap metal pick up from a construction site which was observed by officers the previous day. The victim reports there is some scrap metal missing: copper tubing, aluminum, and some radiators.
Dec. 9
Fraud was reported in the 100 block of Schiller at around 5:20 p.m. A victim told police that she received a phone call at their business from an unknown suspect claiming to be from ComEd who stated they needed to pay for their electric bill or their power would be shut off. The victim purchased Green Dot gift cards and provided the scratch-off numbers.
Dec. 8
Police said officers responded for a fraud in progress at a bank in the 500 block of S. York at around 12:21 p.m. According to police, Isaac Adeoye, 44, of Posen, Ill., admitted to using a fake passport to open bank accounts, and was charged with two felony counts of possession of a fraudulent ID.
Retail theft was reported at a store in the 600 block of N. York at around 1:19 p.m. Police said the loss prevention agent for the store reports an unknown suspect entered the store and removed vodka and whiskey, then left the store without paying for the merchandise. The suspect left the area in a red Dodge Dakota with a metal rack and a Comcast sticker on the truck, according to police.
A victim in the 400 block of W. Alma told police at around 12:45 p.m. that a solicitor came to his door selling subscriptions for the Chicago Sun Times. The victim wrote a personal check to the suspect, making the suspect the payee. The victim was later contacted and informedthat the check had been cashed by the suspect. The victim did not want to pursue criminal charges against the suspect.
Nov. 28-Dec. 8
A complainant in the 800 block of N. York told police that a business rented out a white box truck to the suspect on Nov. 2 and terminated the contract on Nov. 28 due to nonpayment. The suspect has been notified but has not returned the vehicle.
Nov. 29
Identity theft was reported in the 100 block of N. Larch at around 1:58 p.m. A victim told police she noticed that an unknown suspect(s) made fraudulent charges on her credit card. She reported the purchases to her bank which will reimburse her account.
Nov. 11
Retail theft was reported at a store in the 300 block of S Route 83 at around 8:16 p.m. The store’s loss prevention reports that a suspect was observed stealing numerous items of merchandise. Loss prevention detained the suspect and recovered merchandise. The store declined to sign complaints and the suspect was served with a no trespass notice and released without charges.
March 1
Identity theft was reported in the 500 block of S. Fairview at around 5 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) opened a Comcast Cable account using her Social Security number.
Warrant arrest
Dec. 7
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Shady Lane at around 1:55 a.m., Robert Reeves, 41, of Downers Grove, was found to be wanted on an active warrant by Kane County Sheriff’s Office and also in possession of a controlled substance. He was charged with possession of methamphetamine, expired registration and no insurance.
