York graduate Jordan Less is faring well as a member of the Northern Illinois University men’s golf team.
NIU recently finished up its fall season at the Pinetree Intercollegiate in Kennesaw, Ga. Less finished tied for 23rd place in the field with a 36-hole score of 151 (7-over par). He shot a 78 (6-over) in the final round.
Less is a sophomore on the Huskies team. In eight tournaments (13 rounds) this fall, Less is averaging 73.6 strokes per 18 holes and has a low round of 69 to his credit.
Less finished tied for 20th at the Inverness tournament with a two-day total of 142 (73 and 69). He tied for 33rd at the Northern event with a 220 for three rounds (73, 74 and 73). He tied for 47th at the Erin Hills with a three-round total of 230 (80, 74 and 76). Less also tied for 23rd at the Windon where he had a three-round total of 214 (71, 75 and 68).
Last year as a freshman Less played in nine tournaments and posted the second-lowest average on the team at 74.42. His stroke average was the second-lowest by a freshman in the Mid-American Conference.
Hagstrom at Washington University
York girls cross-country alum Elizabeth Hagstrom is a sophomore on the Washington University in St. Louis women’s cross-country team.
Hagstrom finished 10th at the Gill Dods Invitational hosted by Wheaton College with a time of 22:54, helping the Bears win that meet.
Hagstrom also took seventh with a time of 18:30 at the North Central College Red and White Open in Naperville.
Hagstrom is coming off a freshman season where she ran a season-best 22:23 at the NCAA championship race to help the Bears finish second in the country. Hagstrom earned UAA rookie of the year honors after finishing 15th (22:31.26) at the conference meet where the Bears won the title. Hagstrom helped Washington to five first-place finishes and the Division III national runner-up status. She posted sub-23 minutes times in five of the six races she competed in. She also was an all-NCAA Midwest Regional selection.
This year, Hagstrom earned all-academic UAA honors and last season was a USTFCCCA all-academic selection. She is a French and history major at Washington University.
Preuss at Lewis
York graduate Alexandra Preuss is part of a Lewis University team that is ranked No. 4 in the country in NCAA Division II. Through late last week, Lewis was 25-2 overall and 14-1 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
In 74 sets this season (26 matches played, 20 starts), Preuss has 205 kills (2.77 per set) to go with 17 service aces and 201 digs (2.72 per set). She also has 47 total blocks.
Preuss, a 5-9 sophomore outside hitter, was an academic all-GLVC selection last year and ranked fifth on the team with 164 kills and was fourth in kills per set (2.19). She was the recipient of the Brother David Delahanty Award given to Lewis student-athletes for academic excellence.
