For The Elmhurst Independent
The Elmhurst City Council meeting held on Monday, August 7, began with members of Timothy Christian’s Scholastic Bowl State Champion Team being recognized by Mayor Steve Morley and the members of City Council.
Team Coach Carlton addressed the room, saying the team has won the regional competition before, never made it to the finals at the state level until this year.
“It is a testament to the extraordinary accomplishments of the members of this team,” Carlton said. “Eight members of the the ten members of this team went from K-12 at Timothy.
“The competition is like the Super Bowl of scholastics, it is an ISHA competition, similar to any sporting competition. There are regionals, sectionals, and we have won regionals before, but never sectionals.
“It is their hard work and the preparation is from the teachers in their class. The students do their own hard work, but the teachers helps them with preparation.”
