The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Battery
June 11
• Gillermo De La Cruz, 29, of Bensenville, was charged with battery in the 1000 block of N. York at around 8:16 p.m. Police said that subsequent to a call for a fight at a gas station, De La Cruz punched a victim with a closed fist.
• Marissa Glosny, 22, of Villa Park, was issued a citation for battery in the 100 block of N. York at around 12:35 a.m. A victim told police that Glosny pulled her hair after a verbal argument inside a building at the above location. Police said Glosny was located and stated she did pull the victim’s hair after the victim yelled to her.
• Victims in the 900 block of Riverside told police at around 12:55 a.m. that they were wrestling in the grassy area at the above location when an unknown suspect described as a white or Hispanic male punched one of the victims in the face. The suspect, who was wearing a bright yellow and green shirt, entered a four-door silver vehicle and left the area. Complaints will be signed if the suspect is located. An investigation is pending.
• Police said officers responded to the report of a domestic battery in the 300 block of Hill at around 9:40 p.m. A victim told police that a juvenile suspect threw a bottle at her, striking her in the head. The victim did not wish to pursue charges.
June 8
• A victim in the 500 block of W. North Ave. told police at around 7:14 a.m. that he was battered by an unknown male suspect. He said he was struck three to five times with a “club” in the legs and feet. There were no apparent injuries on victim at the scene, but he was transported to Elmhurst Hospital for treatment.

Police said an unknown person(s) cut the diesel gas line to a 300-gallon fuel tank in the 400 block of E. Lake between the above dates and removed 75 gallons worth of diesel.
June 10
Two incidents of damage to city property were reported. In the first incident, a yield sign was found bent at the northwest corner of Arlington and Orchard at around 9:16 a.m. In the second incident, a stop sign was found bent at the intersection of northbound Stratford and Vallette between June 10 and June 11.
June 8-June 9
A victim in the 400 block of E. Vallette told police that between 11 p.m. June 8 and 9 a.m. June 9, an unknown suspect(s) spray painted the west side of his garage.
June 8-June 9
A victim in the 600 block of S. Edgewood Ave. told police that she found the passenger side of her vehicle had been spray painted between the above dates. A second victim in the same location told police that his Pontiac Montana minivan was parked overnight, and during that time, an unknown suspect spray painted the rear taillight of the vehicle.
Domestic battery, domestic incident
June 14
• A 41-year-old River Grove man was charged with two counts of domestic battery near Maple and Second at around 5:52 p.m. Police said officers responded for a report of a domestic dispute. The victim told police that her boyfriend allegedly kicked her, grabbed her hair, slapped her, ripped her backpack, and kicked her down the stairs. When the victim attempted to walk to her friend’s house, the suspect reportedly chased her down, and punched her in the face, causing her nose to bleed.
• A complainant/suspect in the 500 block of S. Rex told police at around 7:02 p.m. that his sister swung a baseball bat at him and told him she was going to shoot him with a gun. The complainant stated that the suspect was intoxicated and he came at her in an aggressive manner, at which time she grabbed the baseball bat. No physical contact occurred between the parties. The parties agreed to stay separated for the evening.
June 13
A 36-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with domestic battery in the 400 block of W. Vallette at around 11:39 p.m. Police said officers responded to the above location, and upon arrival, the victim stated that subsequent to a verbal argument the suspect punched her and pulled out some of her hair.
June 10
Police said a suspect and victim were involved in a verbal argument in the 800 block of S. Parkside Ave. at around 3:33 p.m., which turned into both of them wrestling and the suspect preventing the victim from calling 911. The victim eventually got her phone back, called 911, and the suspect left the scene, according to police. The suspect came into the police department and was charged with unlawful interference with reporting domestic violence.
June 9
• Police said officers responded to the report of two people arguing in the 200 block of E. Butterfield at around 9:13 a.m. A suspect told police she followed her ex-boyfriend, the victim, to a gas station because he had previously followed her around the neighborhood and she wanted it to stop. The suspect was pushed back by the victim because she was “in his face.” The victim did not wish to sign complaints. Both parties were separated and advised to get order of protections.
• A complainant in the 300 block of E. Fullerton told police at around 7:06 p.m. that for the past few days her estranged mother has been coming to her residence unwanted. She has contacted the Elmhurst Police Department to have her removed from the property. Today, her mother again came to the home. The complainant requested a no trespass order be issued to her. Her mother was issued the order and advised if she returned she would be arrested.
• A 58-year-old Northbrook man was charged with domestic battery and unlawful interference with the reporting of domestic violence in the 300 block of E. Sherman at around 11:47 p.m. Police said that subsequent to a verbal argument, the victim reports her boyfriend, the suspect, grabbed her phone from her hand, causing a cut to her finger and preventing her from calling 911. The suspect admitted to taking her phone, according to police.

June 10
Edgar Sanchez, 32, of Alsip, was charged with aggravated DUI, DUI, driving while license suspended and improperly parked on a roadway near York and I-290 at around 9:02 a.m. Police said an officer located Sanchez’s vehicle parked in the roadway at the above location. Sanchez was found to be under the influence of alcohol, according to police.
June 9
Police said that while patrolling near Kenilworth and Crescent avenues at around 12:56 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the above location. Upon making contact, police said officers detected the odor of alcohol coming from the suspects. Gillian Berg, 18; Jaclyn Saco, 18; and Rayanne Shockey, 18; all of Elmhurst, were issued citations for consumption of alcohol by a minor and released to parents.
June 8
Police said that subsequent to a call of a suspicious subject in the 400 block of N. West Ave., Christopher Dwyer, 30, of Elmhurst, was found to be consuming a can of alcohol in front of a school. Dwyer was issued a citation for possession of liquor on a public way.
Harassment, threats
June 10
A victim in the 300 block of Maple told police at around 9:46 a.m. that she received a package she did not order. She said that 2 months ago she was receiving multiple unwanted messages on her Facebook account after being in a chat room regarding a Facebook game. The victim is unaware of who would want to target her.
Possession of cannabis, drug paraphernalia, controlled substance, tobacco by a minor
June 11
Sam Scalzitti, 25, of Elmhurst, was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia in the 5700 block of W. Second at around 12:27 a.m. Police said that subsequent to a suspicious vehicle, Scalzitti was found to be in possession of a cannabis smoking pipe.
June 10
Police said that subsequent to a drug complaint in the 100 block of N. Robert Palmer Drive at around 8:38 p.m., the juvenile suspects were located in the alley near the business. Juvenile 1 was found to be in possession of Xanax® pills. He was taken to the police department and released to a parent. Charges are pending lab results. Juvenile 2 was found to be in possession of cannabis. He also was taken to the police department, charged with possession of cannabis and released to a parent.
June 9
Clifton Calvert, 27, of Elmhurst, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to signal, while Kacee Uysaloglu, 27, of Villa Park, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia near Vallette and Poplar at around 8:49 p.m. Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop, Calvert was found to be in possession of a crack pipe and syringe. Upon further investigation, Uysaloglu was located at Calvert’s residence and was in possession of heroin, suboxone, syringes and a spoon with heroin residue, according to police.
June 8
• Marko Milanovic, 24, of Downers Grove, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Crestview at around 9:27 p.m.
• Police said that subsequent to complaints of illegal activity at the Skate Park at around 8:41 p.m., a reporting officer observed a group of juveniles using nicotine vape devices. Four juveniles were all in possession of vape devices with nicotine and were released to their parents. The case was referred to a peer jury.
June 1
Luis Aranda, 19, of Lake Geneva, Wis., was charged with possession of cannabis, driving while license suspended and disobeying a traffic control device subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and North at around 12:03 a.m.
Suspicious circumstances
June 13
A victim near Route 83 and I-290 called 911 at around 9:10 a.m., reporting that a suspect pointed a gun at him during a road rage incident. The vehicle was stopped by officers, and a search of the suspect’s vehicle failed to produce a handgun. No charges are to be filed and all parties went on their way.

June 13
• Adrian Mazon, 47, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, resisting a police officer, no valid driver’s license and no insurance in the 100 block of W. North Ave. at around 8:49 a.m. Police said that subsequent to a complaint of a retail theft in progress, Mazon was located fleeing the scene in his vehicle. According to police, Mazon was stopped, resisted arrest, and was taken into custody. Police said he was found to be in possession of $1,173.54 worth of stolen medication from a pharmacy; as well as several small plastic bags containing suspected heroin.
• A victim in the 100 block of W. Vallette Ave. came into the police department at around 1:23 p.m., claiming that unknown suspects changed her recovery email, password, and phone number. She suspects that someone from her former employer found her password and changed all of her information.
June 12
• The vice president of services at a company in the 600 block of W. Grand Ave. told police at around 3:36 p.m. that the company placed an order for 20 HP EliteBook 1040 G3 laptop computers and 200 Intel Core i7 i7-6700K Quad-core processors. A credit report was conducted on the company from which the computers and processors were ordered and all the paperwork appeared to be valid. The shipment was sent on May 19. On the above date, the company discovered that the order and address were fraudulent. The computers were entered into LEADS as stolen.
• Loss prevention for a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 told police at around 6:25 p.m. that they observed a suspect in a wheel chair rip the tag off of a kid’s black/brown Levis belt, roll up the belt and place it between his legs. He then grabbed a second belt and left the area. The suspect left the store and refused to come back in when approached by loss prevention. An officer contacted the suspect, who denied the theft but agreed to come to the police department to talk.
• A victim at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 told police at around 9:48 p.m. that a suspect took a water bottle and shirt off the shelves and placed them into her purse. The suspect then left the store without paying. Loss prevention made contact with the suspect who got in her car and left. An officer will follow up with charges once contact is made with the suspect.
June 11
Police said officers responded to the report of a burglary to a vehicle which just occurred in the 800 block of S. Prospect at around 4:12 a.m. The victim states his wife heard a drilling noise and observed a suspect get into a white possible Lincoln Mark 8 and leave northbound on Prospect. Nothing appeared to be missing at the time. The vehicle was observed northbound on West Avenue and fled westbound on North Avenue after a traffic stop was attempted. The vehicle was last seen westbound passing Ardmore in Villa Park. The victim later called, stating his catalytic converter was taken.
June 10
• Joel Wieland, 29, of Elmhurst, was charged with retail theft at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at around 9:24 p.m. Police said officers responded for a retail theft in progress, and Wieland was located exiting the business with merchandise that was not paid for. He also was wanted on two active warrants out of DuPage County, according to police.
A victim told police that he left his cell phone in the men’s changing room at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83, and when he returned looking for the phone it was gone. The phone was entered into LEADS.
• A victim told police that he misplacing his wallet while at a restaurant in the 600 block of W. North at around 10:20 a.m. The victim then noticed that there had been fraudulent activity on his Bank of America debit card.
June 9-June 10
• A victim in the 200 block of Forest told police at around 5:06 p.m. that an unknown suspect(s) entered his GMC Denali and removed his personal property.
• A victim in the 400 block of Atwater told police at around 9:30 a.m. that her unlocked Silver Honda Odyssey was entered between the above dates. The victim is missing a storage locker key and paperwork.
June 6-June 10
A victim in the 400 block of Atwater told police that she found her red 2013 Volkswagen Golf car door partially ajar. The vehicle was parked on her driveway and was entered between the above dates. However, nothing was missing.
June 9
• Linda S. Verdak, 63, of Elmhurst, was charged with retail theft at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at around 3:30 p.m. Police said Verdak was observed by the store’s loss prevention officer via the store’s camera system taking three articles of clothing and concealing them in her purse. She exited the store without rendering payment, according to police.
• Police said officers responded to the report of a stolen Honda CRV from the victim’s driveway overnight. The victim told police at around 5:54 a.m. that the vehicle needs a key fob to start the vehicle; however the keys were accounted for and located in the residence. Their Honda Accord had contents from the center council and glove compartment thrown about in the car.
June 8-June 9
A victim in the 100 block of N. York told police that sometime between 12:-5 a.m. June 8 and 3 a.m. June 9, he lost his Samsung Galaxy S7 cell phone. The victim tracked his phone at 11 p.m. June 9 and the phone showed to be southbound on I-55 near Bloomington, Ill. The victim possibly dropped the phone while walking home.
June 7
The security camera at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 showed at around 2:15 p.m. that two suspects described as black males entered the store and took possession of a cookware set and three pieces of Haggar® clothing. At 2:32 p.m., they made the purchases, reportedly using five counterfeit $100 bills. The first suspect was described as wearing a light blue long sleeve shirt, blue jeans and gray gym shoes. The second suspect was described as wearing a white short-sleeve T-shirt with unknown writing on the chest area, blue jeans and red gym shoes.
May 30-June 7
A complainant in the 200 block of Oakland Grove told police at around 6:41 p.m. that her husband went online, checked their checking account and noticed several charges over the past two weeks that appeared to be fraudulent that neither she nor her husband had made. The complainant contacted the bank and they canceled their debit card and closed the checking account.

Police said Mike McCormick, 28, of Oak Brook, came into the police department at around 7:39 a.m. to surrender himself on a warrant out of the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office.
June 10
Police said Cassandra Huffman, 46, of Elmhurst, turned herself in on a warrant in the 100 block of E. First at around 2:46 a.m.
June 8
Police said that subsequent to a call for a call for a disturbance in the 100 block of N. Bonnie Brae at around 3:46 a.m., Nikeyairra Henry, 22, of Bellwood, was found to have an active warrant out of DuPage County.
