The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Battery
May 13
A victim in the 100 block of Haven told police at around 6:15 p.m. that while traveling in a vehicle, she and the suspect became involved in an argument. At one point the suspect threw an item at the victim; the victim retaliated by throwing an item at the suspect. The suspect and a witness then left the vehicle on foot. The victim declined to pursue the incident.
Child endangerment
May 13
Police said that subsequent to a complaint of two children left unattended in a vehicle in the 1000 block of S. York at around 1:26 p.m., officers located the victims in a mini-van in the parking lot. Jessica Miller, 33, of Elmhurst, was located a short time later in the parking lot. Miller was charged with endangering the life of a child.

May 11
A complainant at a gas station in the 400 block of N. York told police at around 11:48 a.m. that a frequent customer has previously yelled at patrons, accused them of being terrorists and threatened to have other customers deported. On the above date, the suspect came into the station and started an argument over the belief people cut in line in front of her. She was issued a no trespass notice.
May 10-May 11
A victim in the 600 block of S. Hillside told police at around 7:26 a.m. that the windows on both of his vans’ sliding doors were damaged overnight. A search of the area for a possible object used to break the windows yielded no results.
Disorderly conduct
May 16
Lisa Coglianese, 53, of Addison, was charged with disorderly conduct in the 200 block of E. Lake at around 7:13 p.m. Police said officers responded for a possible domestic at the above location. According to police, Coglianese was visiting a resident at an extended care center. She was verbally abusive to her, the resident and staff, according to police. She then took the victim in a wheelchair out into the parking lot after being told she could not, police said, and was yelling at officers.

Aaron Andrews, 40, of Palatine, was charged with DUI and improper lane usage near Route 83 and I-290 subsequent to a traffic stop at around 12:09 a.m.
May 15
Gary Mikolajczak, 65, of Addison, was charged with DUI, resisting a police officer and improper driving on the roadway near Route 83 and North Avenue at around 3:15 a.m. Police said a reporting officer responded to the above location for Mikolajczak, who had fallen asleep at the wheel. According to police, the officer attempted to make contact with Mikolajczak; however he began to flee the scene, but the officer caught up with him moments later.
May 14
• Briana Lane, 27, of Aurora, was charged with DUI, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and disobeying a traffic control device in the 100 block of N. York at around 11:43 p.m.
• Police said that subsequent to a report of an intoxicated driver in the 400 block of N. York at around 1:43 a.m., the reporting officer located the vehicle moving in and out of its lane, almost striking two curbs. Stephanie Karcz, 34, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage and expired registration.
• A victim in the 200 block of E. Fremont Ave. told police at around 3:01 a.m. that he picked up Anthony Moser, 21, of Racine, Wis., in the city and was owed a fare. Upon reaching his destination, police said Moser exited the taxi without paying, but unknowingly left his driver’s license in the taxi and was later located walking in the area. Moser was charged with theft of services.

Doubton Holmes, 33, of Broadview, was charged with DUI, failure to yield and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and Roosevelt at around 3:43 a.m.
May 12
• Michele Arling, 57, of Joliet, was charged with DUI, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, making an improper turn at an intersection and no insurance near Lake and York at around 5:33 p.m.
• Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near County Line Road and Lake Street at around 11:17 p.m., an officer made contact with occupants of the vehicle and smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from inside the vehicle. According to police, William Farrell, 18, of Elmhurst, admitted to drinking alcohol and being under the legal age limit. He was cited for consumption of alcohol by a minor. A juvenile suspect was issued citations for operating a vehicle with a BAC of over .000, improper lane usage, speeding, disobeying a stop sign and no insurance and released to his parents.
May 11
An unnamed suspect was issued citations for possession of alcohol by a minor and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near Roosevelt and York at around 12:26 a.m.
Possession of cannabis, drug paraphernalia, controlled substance
May 16
• Edward Eagins, 24, of Westchester, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, driving while license suspended, improper lighting and no insurance near York and Lexington at around 11:50 p.m. Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop, Eagins was found to be wanted out of Berkeley Police Department. He was also in possession of a straw with cocaine residue inside.
• Clarissa Vasquez, 28, of Chicago, was charged with possession of cannabis, no valid driver’s license and use of an electronic device while driving, and Damaris Ramos, 28, of Chicago, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Oaklawn at around 11:11 a.m.
• Xuyang Wang, 18, of Wheeling, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of a fictitious ID, possession of alcohol by a minor, no valid driver’s license and speeding near York and Grand at around 12:42 a.m. Police said that Wang was found to be in possession of ecstasy pills, acid soaked paper wrapped in foil, cannabis and open alcohol.
May 15
Daisia M. Barrow, 18, of Chicago; Aaron A. Cannon, 18, of Austell, Ga.; Krystal Donegan, 18, of Midlothian; and Durande T. Franks, Jr., 19, of Chicago were issued citations the possession of cannabis at Wilder Park at around 7:35 p.m. Police said that subsequent to a complaint of drug activity in the park, officers located the four suspects near the Wilder Park Conservatory. They were observed smoking cannabis, and all four suspects admitted to it, according to police. Two cannabis cigarettes were recovered from Cannon, police said.
May 12
• Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near Spring and McKinley Avenue at around 7:55 p.m., officers conducted a K-9 search of the vehicle which yielded cannabis, a digital scale and a fraudulent ID. A juvenile suspect admitted to having cannabis and was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a fraudulent ID, no insurance and disobeying a stop sign. He was released to his parents.
• Police said a juvenile suspect reportedly took a silver men’s ring and Garmin heart rate tracker at around 9:28 p.m. from a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 without paying. The complainant did not wish to sign complaints; however, they wanted the suspect served with a no trespass notice.
May 11
• Brandon Flowers, 27, of Waukegan, was issued citations for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of open alcohol in a vehicle improper lane usage and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near St. Charles and Pick at around 12:26 a.m.
• Laura Fonseca, 53, of Bridgeview, was issued citations for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia subsequent to a traffic stop near Spring and Butterfield at around 6:01 p.m.
Suspicious circumstances
May 14
A complainant in the 1000 block of S. Prospect Ave. told police at around 11:39 a.m. that while working security for ongoing church services, he was approached by two suspects described as white females who wanted access to the school library to look at paintings and then walk the halls. The complainant told them they could not. Both females left the building; then were looking in parked vehicles in the lot. Both left when they noticed they were being watched. One of the suspects was described as being between 17 and 21 years old, with blonde hair, wearing a cream colored top with a cream colored skirt; her voice sounded like a young girl when talking to the complainant. The second suspect was described as being around 15 years old, 5’6” with brown hair, wearing a blue top with a black skirt, acne on her face and a voice sounding like a young girl.
May 13
• Police said an officer responded to a suspicious auto parked in the Adelaide parking garage at around 11:10 a.m., approached the vehicle on foot, and observed action consistent with inappropriate behavior. Jamail Bradley, 31, of Elmhurst, was charged with prowling.
• A suspect told police at around 3:39 p.m. that a second suspect entered a restaurant in the 600 block of W. North Ave. and requested a cup for water. The second suspect then filled the cup with a soft drink and left the store without paying for it. Suspect 2 went next door and confronted by the first suspect about the theft. A mutual shove/push episode ensued. Due to conflicting statements no charges were filed. A trespass notice was issued to the first suspect, prohibiting her from entering the restaurant.

A complainant at a construction company told police that between the above dates, an unknown suspect(s) cut a lock attached to two generators and removed a Honda generator.
May 16
An employee for a food store in the 100 block of E. Schiller told police at around 1:58 p.m. that she assisted a customer with several boxes of infant formula. During this interaction, the customer took four boxes of Enfamil® and ran out of the store without paying for them. The suspect was described as a white male, 25 years old, around 5’7” about 170 pounds, with blond hair, a white shirt and blue jeans.
May 15-May 16
A victim in the 400 block of Holly told police that an unknown suspect made several unauthorized transactions on his Bank of America credit card account between the above dates. The victim contacted his bank, canceled his account, and canceled any pending transactions.
May 12-May 16
While the manager of a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 was at the bank making a deposit at around 6:15 p.m., the bank advised that a bill was counterfeit because the watermark was on the wrong side of the bill even though it passed the marker test. The victim reports that an unknown suspect made a purchase $17.28 worth of merchandise using a counterfeit $100 bill. The possible suspect is described as a black female with long black hair, wearing a blue jean jacket, a white undershirt and black yoga pants.
May 15
Ma Del Carmen Sanchez-Adame, 42, and Estefani Bartolo, 21, both of Melrose Park, were both charged with retail theft at a store in the 600 block of W. North Ave. at around 3:03 p.m. Police said an agent for the store reports detaining the two suspects after they were observed leaving the store with seven items of clothing for which they had not paid.
May 12-May 15
A victim told police that sometime over the weekend, an unknown suspect removed three spools of #6 wire from a construction site in the 100 block of E. Brush Hill.
May 14
A victim in the 900 block of S. Hillside told police at around 12 noon that an unknown suspect(s) used her checking account information to make two unauthorized bill payments which totaled approximately $665. Her bank cancelled her debit card and initiated a fraud investigation
May 13
• Bogumila Kulesa, 53, of Glen Ellyn, was charged with retail theft at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at around 2:22 p.m. According to police, store security reported observing Kulesa switching price tags on jewelry items and concealing additional jewelry items in her purse. The suspect was detained as she left the store, police said.
• Burglary to a vehicle was reported at a truck company in the 500 block of W. Wrightwood at around 7:23 p.m. A complainant told police he received a call from an employee informing him that they noticed a strange white male looking through the tool box on one of the company trucks. The employee noticed the man had removed two blue concrete grinders.
Jan. 1-May 13
A victim in the 500 block of Crockett told police at around 4:15 p.m. that an unknown suspect opened a Verizon Wireless account using her personal information between the above dates. The victim did not open the account and did not authorize anyone to use her information to open an account. A matter of record only.
May 12
• Ifeyinwa R. Uraih, 31, of Elmhurst, was charged with retail theft at a food store in the 200 block of S. Route 83 at around 11:44 a.m. Police said Uraih left the store without paying for a sandwich and a bouquet of flowers.
• A victim in the 900 block of S. York told police at around 8:36 a.m. that an unknown suspect(s) purchased gift cards at the Jewel Osco. The suspect(s) used a credit card that had the victim’s information and credit card number on it to make the purchase.
May 11-May 12
Residential burglary was reported in the 100 block of N. Michigan at around 2:07 p.m. The victim’s daughter told police that an unknown suspect entered the victim’s apartment between the above dates and removed a pearl necklace.
May 11
• A victim at a food store in the 200 block of S. Route 83 told police at around 3:59 p.m. that an unknown suspect attempted to purchase $13.21 worth of merchandise using a counterfeit $100 bill. The employee told the suspect that the bill was counterfeit and refused to return the bill to the suspect. The suspect stated he would come back with a $20 bill to pay for the items and then fled the store. The suspect is described as a black male, around 5-10, 185 and 45 years old wearing glasses, a blue jacket, a white T-shirt and blue jeans.
• Security at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 reported to police that a suspect was observed entering the fitting room with numerous items of merchandise. The suspect was then seen exiting the store without paying for the merchandise. Security detained the suspect and recovered the merchandise. The store declined to prosecute due to the dollar amount. The suspect was served with a trespass notice and released without charges.
• A victim in the 300 block of Mitchell told police at around 8:54 p.m. that an unknown suspect used her identification to open credit accounts at Gap, Target. Kohl’s and Sprint. The victim was able to cancel the fraudulent accounts.
April 28
A complainant in the 500 block of W. Lamont told police at around 7:39 a.m. that an unknown suspect(s) removed an electronically drafted check from the U.S. Mail bin left for the postal carrier in the front vestibule. The check was subsequently altered and an unknown person(s) attempted to cash the check at an unknown location. There was no loss at this time.
April 25
A victim in the 100 block of N. Walnut told police that he sent a package to a buyer in Clarendon Hills on the above date. USPS showed the package was delivered; however, the buyer said the package never came and had his money refunded through PayPal. PayPal advised the victim that a police report had to be obtained so an investigation could be conducted.
March 18
A victim in the 200 block of N. Highview told police that he received a notice in the mail from the IRS on the above date stating that an unknown suspect(s) attempted to file a tax return using his name and Social Security number. The victim had no financial loss.
Unlawful use of a weapon
May 13
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near Roosevelt and York at around 2:50 a.m., Perla Verdin, 22, of Villa Park, was found to be in possession of brass knuckles. Verdin was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and speeding.
Warrant service
May 14
Police said that subsequent to an investigation of a retail theft near Route 83 and Second, Benjamin Doughty, 35, of Addison, provided officers with a false name. Doughty was found to be wanted on a warrant out of Cook County, according to police. The warrant was confirmed. Doughty was charged with obstructing identification.
May 13
Police said that subsequent to investigating a suspicious vehicle in the 800 block of N. York Road at around 1:46 a.m., Ariana Saenz, 29, of Thornton, Colo., was found to have a valid, full extradition, no-bond warrant out of Colorado. Saenz was charged with felony fugitive from justice.
