Ross wins three boys track sectional titles.

The Timothy Christian girls track team had nine girls compete in the recent Class 1A state finals meet in Charleston at Eastern Illinois University.
It’s the largest contingent of athletes the Trojans have had at state in six years.
Timothy senior Olivia Hoekstra took sixth in the state in the 400 with a time of 59.13. She ran 59.61 in the preliminary heat to earn a spot in the finals.
Timothy’s 3,200 relay team finished in sixth place in its preliminary heat with a time of 10:45.87. That team included Elise Terpstra, Valerie Hoekstra, Jill Forgac and Rachel Stoll.
Timothy’s 800 relay competed in the third heat in the preliminaries. That group included Zoe Stanton, Priscilla Nartey, Gabi Silvia and Alyse Schnurr.
Timothy’s 1,600 relay was seventh in its preliminary heat with a time of 4:26.63 with Olivia Hoekstra, Valerie Hoekstra, Forgac and Stoll.
Schnurr was eighth in her preliminary heat of the 100 high hurdles with a time of 17.98. Terpstra was 10th in her preliminary heat of the 800 with a time of 2:36.85.
Timothy Christian boys track
The Timothy Christian boys track team was seventh at the recent Class 1A Seneca sectional.
On the individual front, Timothy junior Xavier Ross won three sectional titles and will compete in those events at this weekend’s Class 1A state finals meet in Charleston.
Ross won the 110 high hurdles title in 16.11. He won the 300 intermediate hurdles going away in 41.50. His next closest competition was 43.96. Ross also won the 200 in 23.03.
Timothy Christian baseball
The Timothy Christian baseball team opened Class 2A regional play with a 19-1 win in four innings over Chicago Wells.
The Trojans pounded out 13 hits and led 16-0 after two innings thanks to seven runs in the first inning and nine more in the second inning.
Nick Huisman had two hits and four RBI. Ten Timothy players collected the 13 hits. Jonny Strube also had four RBI. Brian Schiff, Jimmy Allen and Huisman each had two hits. Schiff, Huisman and Strube each had a double, while Allen and Josh Anderson each had a triple.
Jakob Loerop was the winning pitcher. He went four innings and allowed two hits, while striking out four.
Timothy’s regional title game at home against St. Joseph was postponed due to rain. That game was scheduled to be made up this past Monday. If Timothy won that game, it advanced to the Class 2A IC Catholic Prep sectional in Elmhurst at Plunkett Athletic Complex against F.W. Parker from Chicago.
