Big support for Kennedy on Election night

With only one contested race on the entire City slate in Elmhurst, Election night was a bit slow, but in a good way — no one was nervous about any close fights.
The contested election was the aldermanic seat in 6th Ward, where Jim Kennedy was seeking his second term. He was challenged by Ronald Sebonia, who only garnered about 28% of the vote and called Kennedy at 9 p.m. to concede. Kennedy received 72.4% of the vote, although at press time, results were unofficial.
In the race for Elmhurst Park District, three people ran for two posts and at the end of the night, it was long-time incumbent Mary E. Kies along with Tim Sheehan who prevailed over Robert Smith.
The School Board had three persons running for three seats and the vote was split by almost exactly one-third for each candidate. Kara Caforio, a newcomer, received 2711 votes, while incumbents Margaret D. Harrell and Jim Collins received 2634 and 2621 respectively.
Bensenville elects DeSimone
The race for Bensenville Village President came down to a vote of 1217-942 with Frank DeSimone leading Henry Wesseler. There is no incumbent in the race because the former Village President Frank Soto resigned from his post to accept a position on the governor’s staff in Springfield. Again, the race results are unofficial.
In the race for four Trustee seats, the votes came down as follows: Armando Perez (1114) Ann Franz (1099), McLane Lomax (1034), David J. Majeski (886), Joseph Pisano (828) and Sergiusz Zgrzebski (793).
Bulthuis prevails in VP President’s race
In Villa Park, Deb Bullwinkel electing not to seek another term left a three-way race for Village President among Trustees Bob Taglia and Al Bulthuis and challenger Charles Pickerill. The race was close all evening, but in the end, it was Bulthuis who garnered the most votes.
In the race for Trustee, four people were seeking one of three seats. In the end, the incumbents Nick Cuzzone and and Robert Wagner received the most votes with 2316 and 2050 respectively, followed by Cheryl Orlow Tucker with 1773 and David G. Cilella trailing with 1600.
With Bulthuis stepping up to serve as President, his Trustee seat will be open for him to appoint someone.
Props in VP both pass
Villa Park also had two propositions on the ballot. The first involved issuing bonds to pay for remodeling, improving and building an addition to the existing Villa Park Public Library. It passed 2209-1226.
The other proposition was for a one-half cent increase in sales tax to use for infrastructure, specifically installing, replacing and maintaining the sanitary sewer, storm sewer and water main systems. That measured passed 2165-1232.
Addison township props pass handily
Voters in Addison township, which includes parts of Elmhurst and Bensenville, had three propositions on the ballot. The first was asking if the Fly Quiet Program at O’Hare Airport should be made permanent. That piece passed 7232-561.
The second proposition asked if the state should increase the residential and senior homeowner exemptions to help reduce property taxes for the residents of Addison Township. It was no surprise when the vote came out 7041-713 in favor of that measure.
The third proposition was about property consolidation and whether or not the Township should pursue consolidation of government entities which have no elected oversight at the present time. That measure was passed with a vote of 6141-1122.

Dennis Reboletti won with 67.70% of the vote over Rochelle Corso with 5,300 votes to 2,529.
