The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Battery
Feb. 20-March 25
A victim in the 300 block of N. York told police that while she was working for a restaurant, she was involved in a short dating relationship with the suspect between the above dates. After ending the relationship, the suspect allegedly touched her inappropriately. The victim is unsure if she wishes to pursue criminal complaints against the suspect.
March 23
• An officer responded to the report of a white male lying in the yard on Addison. The suspect was unconscious but breathing. The officer called out to him and he woke up, acting loud, verbally abusive, argumentative and unable to stand up as he was highly intoxicated, according to police. Medics were called and he became combative and did not want to be transported. While in the ambulance, police said the suspect kicked the medic. He was transported to Elmhurst Hospital. The reporting officer will obtain a warrant for his arrest.
• Police said a suspect was being discharged from Elmhurst Hospital at around 9:58 p.m. and was upset he did not receive more medication. As he was being escorted out, he reportedly punched the victim (a nurse) three to five times in the arms. The suspect then left the hospital. The victim would like to sign complaints.

The principal of a school in the 800 block of Wilson told police that the wire mesh glass window on the gymnasium door south of the playground had been cracked by an unknown object between the above dates. The wire mesh window appeared as if it was cracked with a hard object, such as a baseball or rock.

March 29
• A victim in the 300 block of Ridge told police that two unknown males approximately 16-18 years old were throwing eggs at their residence. The suspects left in a newer gray Chevrolet Suburban. The victim stated this also happened on March 27, but did not report it.
• An officer near Swain and the Prairie Path responded to the report of teens shooting each other with pellet guns on the Prairie Path at around 4:57 p.m. All of them admitted to playing and shooting each other with the air-soft handguns in the wooded area of the Prairie Path. All of the teens will be referred to a peer jury. The teens were released to their parents/guardians.

March 29
A victim told police at around 1:48 p.m. that she and her daughter were arguing. The daughter reportedly grabbed the victim by the coat and threw her into a cabinet. Then, the offender allegedly grabbed a lamp and threw it, destroying it. The suspect was taken into custody, transported to the police department, and transported to Kane County Youth Detention Center for violation of home detention.

March 26
• Rudy Deleon, 37, of Bensenville, was charged with DUI, driving while license suspended and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near Grand and Entry at around 5:26 a.m.
• Ronisha Z. Johnson, 21, of Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence combination alcohol and drugs, possession of cannabis, improper lane usage and driving without headlights subsequent to a traffic stop near Roosevelt and York at around 3:16 a.m. Police said that an officer smelled a strong odor of cannabis while speaking with Johnson, the driver, who admitted to having cannabis in her possession and smoking cannabis prior to being stopped.
• Yadira Orquiz-Reynolds, 43, of Melrose Park, was charged with DUI, operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for no insurance, no insurance and improper lane usage following a traffic stop near Route 83 and St. Charles at around 1:53 a.m.
March 25
• Javier Albarran, 33, of Wheeling, was charged with aggravated DUI and aggravated driving while license revoked in the 300 block of N. York at around 2:18 a.m. Police said that subsequent to a suspicious vehicle that was parked with its headlights on and running, officers made contact with the driver, Albarran, who was sleeping and had an odor of alcohol on his breath.
• Gillian F. Berg, 18, of Elmhurst, was charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor in the 300 block of Crescent at around 12:59 p.m. Police said an officer observed a suspicious female behind a school in the area who fled on foot. Two other females also were observed, and Berg was found to be under 21 and had consumed alcohol, according to police.
• Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and St. Charles at around 2:17 a.m., an officer smelled a strong odor of burnt cannabis coming from the vehicle. Martin A. Lopez, 22, of Melrose Park, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, DUI drugs, no insurance and improper lane usage. Molina Viridiana-Hernandez, 23, of Melrose Park, a passenger in the vehicle, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis.
March 24
• Lisa M. Rodriguez, 38, of Chicago, was charged with aggravated DUI, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license revoked and operating a vehicle while using an electronic communication device subsequent to a traffic stop near West and Third at around 1:47 p.m.
• Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near Lake and I-290 at around 1:15 a.m., Vivian Correa, 30, of Chicago, was found to be DUI and also in possession of a stun gun. She was charged with DUI, carrying a concealed weapon, improper lane usage and no headlights. According to police, Raven Nunez, 20, of Elmwood Park, a passenger in the vehicle, was in possession of a false ID, was underage and had consumed alcohol. She was charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor and a false ID.
• Flora Washington, 66, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage and making an improper U-turn subsequent to a traffic stop near Lake and I-290 at around 12:07 a.m.
March 23
Timika L. Walker, 28, of Berwyn, was charged with DUI, transportation of open alcohol, speeding and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near North and York at around 3:49 a.m.
Obstruction
March 28
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near Palmer and Park at around 8:37 a.m., Christie George, 32, of Chicago, was found to have no valid driver’s license. According to police, George had given her sister’s name because she knew she did not have a valid driver’s license. George was charged with obstructing identification, speeding and no valid driver’s license.
Possession of cannabis, drug paraphernalia, controlled substance
March 29
Louis A. Mosley, 47, of Chicago, and Lola Grayer, 46, of Chicago, were charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Grand at around 3:34 p.m. Mosley also was charged unlawful use of a communication device. Police said both suspects were found to be in possession of heroin and crack pipes.
March 27
Lorenzo Bassette, 33, of Addison, was cited for possession of cannabis and expired registration, while Eric Casimir, 34, of Addison, was cited for possession of cannabis subsequent to a traffic stop near Grand and Entry Drive at around 11:38 p.m.
March 26
• Alexandria Jeanette Barker, 19, of Elmhurst, and Stephen Angelo Pulli, 19, of Lombard, were both issued citations for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia subsequent to a traffic stop near York at May at around 3:49 p.m.
• Adam Shallon, 25, of Chicago, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis, speeding and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and Lake at around 1:58 a.m.
March 25
Gisela Burton, 18, of Villa Park, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia subsequent to a traffic stop near Crestview and Michigan at around 11:27 p.m. Haley Doyle, 18, of Villa Park, was issued a citation consumption of alcohol by a minor, possession of alcohol by minor and possession of drug paraphernalia. Julia Bergh, 18, of Villa Park, was issued a citation for consumption of alcohol by a minor, possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis. Agrusa Rafferty, 19, of Villa Park, was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Suspicious circumstances
March 23
A complainant near Fremont and Walnut told police at around 6:30 a.m. that she observed a male subject standing with a little boy in pajamas at the above intersection. The man approached her vehicle, related the boy was cold and lost, and placed the boy in the complainant’s vehicle to keep warm while waiting for police to arrive. And officer transported the victim to his address and spoke with the boy’s father. He believes the victim may have followed him outside and related the boy has never before wandered off without supervision.

March 29
• A victim in the 200 block of N. Addison told police at around 4:14 p.m. that he received a letter on the above date in reference to a Victoria’s Secret credit card that was opened in his name that he had never opened. The victim checked his credit history and found three other credit cards that were opened using his name and Social Security number. He contacted Equifax and was advised to make a police report and cancel the credit cards with the companies.
• A victim in the 600 block of W. North Ave. told police at around 7:40 p.m. that she parked her white, 2016 Chevy Cruze in a parking lot at 6:45 p.m. When she returned to her vehicle, she noticed the rear passenger side window of her vehicle had been shattered. The victim’s purse which had been under the passenger seat was gone.
March 28-March 29
• An officer responded for a theft of a catalytic converter in the 300 block of S. West Ave. at around 9:48 a.m. The victim told police that an unknown suspect removed the catalytic converter from his vehicle while parked in the parking lot sometime between the above dates. The victim stated that the same thing happened before earlier in the month and he did not notify the police.
• A victim in the 100 block of Fellows Court told police that he parked his vehicle in the Fellows Court parking lot on March 28. On March 29, the victim received a text from a friend saying the tail pipe from his vehicle was lying on the ground. The victim’s catalytic converter was cut from his vehicle.
March 13-March 29
A victim in the 700 block of Benton Court told police at around 6:08 p.m. that an unknown suspect entered his residence and removed a Craftsman lawnmower and a snow blower from the garage. The house is currently under construction.
March 22-March 27
An account manager at a store in the 100 block of W. Diversey told police at around 4:01 p.m. that during the above time frame, an unknown suspect removed a black and red Hilti PD-C laser measure tool from their showroom that was on display. The item was entered into LEADS as stolen.
March 20-March 27
Victims in the 100 block of Oneida told police that they returned home only to discover a side door to the residence had been opened between the above dates. Upon entering the residence, the victims noticed the home had been entered and various electronics had been removed.
March 25
Police said an unknown suspect removed the stop sign for traffic headed eastbound on Second St. at Highland at around 5:18 a.m. Public Works will replace the sign.
March 15-March 25
A victim in the 400 block of W. Vallette told police that between the above dates, the victim found the interior of her residence in disarray. Additionally, a locked bedroom door appeared to have been forced open and several jewelry items were missing. A suspect admitted to being in the residence and claimed the door had prior damage.
March 24
• Kristy Geneva, 29, of Wood Dale, was charged with retail theft at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at around 8:33 p.m.
• A victim at a fitness center in the 600 block of N. York told police at around 7:48 p.m. that an unknown suspect pried apart the driver’s side door handle of his vehicle to gain access to the vehicle while it was parked. Nothing appears to be missing from the vehicle at this time.
• Four incidents of criminal damage to a vehicle and burglary to a vehicle were reported in the 600 block of N. York at around 8:41 p.m. In the first incident, an unknown suspect shattered the driver’s side window on the victim’s vehicle to gain entry. The victim reports nothing appears to be missing at this time. In the second incident, an unknown suspect attempted to pry open the driver’s side door of his parked vehicle. No entry to the vehicle was made. In the third incident, an unknown suspect attempted to pry open the driver’s side door on her parked vehicle. No entry to the vehicle was made. In the fourth incident, a victim reports that an unknown suspect entered his unlocked parked vehicle and removed his wallet. A purchase was made using his debit card at an Office Max in Melrose Park.
• An officer was provided with a “Report a Crime Tip” from the Elmhurst Police Department website at around 3:11 p.m. The victim told police that her Social Security number, driver’s license and date of birth was used to open a Kohl’s credit card.
March 23
Shana S. Nirappil, 20, of Elmhurst, was charged with retail theft at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at around 4:26 p.m. Police said an officer responded for a retail theft in progress. Nirappil, according to police, was concealing items in a black purse, exited the store without paying for merchandise and was stopped by the officer.
March 22
A victim in the 600 block of N. Willow told police that at approximately 2 p.m., a suspect described as an Hispanic female in her mid-40s with dark skin, a thin build, brown hair, wearing a green/red safety vest and speaking Spanish knocked on the victim’s back door. The suspect stated that she worked for the city and needed to check the water pipes in the basement. The suspect followed the victim into the basement; she then turned on two faucets and talked on the phone the entire time. After the suspect left, the victim noticed a door leading to the main floor to be opened and found jewelry missing from the house.
March 21
A victim in the 400 block of Washington told police that on the above date, he discovered fraudulent charges on his Home Depot credit card. The transaction occurred at the Home Depot in Asheville, N.C. The victim contacted Home Depot and was informed he had to make a police report and provide the case number for them to complete an investigation.
March 19
A victim in the 100 block of Walnut Avenue told police at around 5:57 p.m. that an unknown suspect(s) opened a Sprint cellular account using his personal identifying information.
March 18
Identity theft was reported in the 400 block of N. Oak at around 6:40 p.m. The victim told police she received denied credit card applications for three credit cards she had never applied for. The applications were submitted on March 18 in Lafayette, Ind. The victim will contact two other companies, where applications are in progress, to prevent the cards from being approved.

March 27
Police said an officer near Rose Street and Villa Avenue responded for a suspicious person complaint at around 7:06 p.m. The suspect, Christofher M. Becerra, 20, of Addison, was found to have a valid no-bond warrant out of Wood Dale, according to police. Becerra was transported to the station where a Wood Dale officer responded and took custody of the suspect.
