Victim jumps from vehicle after car thief commits battery

On Feb. 19, Darius N. Robinson, 35, of Elmwood Park, was charged with two counts of battery, criminal trespass to a vehicle and driving while license suspended near York and Virginia at around 3:37 p.m. Police said a reporting officer responded to a vehicle theft. While en route to Elmwood Park, a victim and Robinson had a verbal argument, and according to police, Robinson became irate and punched the victim in the face. Police said the victim jumped out of his vehicle to get away from Robinson, and Robinson fled in the truck. Robinson was subsequently stopped by police.

Witnesses say man batters victim on the ground

On Feb. 17, Timothy Reed, 56, of Geneva, was charged with battery in the 100 block of N. York at around 11:12 p.m. Police said officers responded to the above location for a report of a subject bleeding from a fight that had occurred. The victim advised that he and his friends were reported involved in a fight with a group of people unknown to him. The victim told police he could not describe the suspect(s) other than to say there were two males. According to police, witnesses reported seeing Reed punching the victim while on the ground. Medics arrived on the scene; however, the victim refused to be transported to the hospital. Upon further investigation, police said it was found that Reed was one of the aggressors.

Police respond to woman shouting for aggressor to stop

On Feb. 20, a 32-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with domestic battery in the 800 block of Wilson at around 1:10 a.m. Police said officers responded to a report of a woman screaming, “stop hitting me” at the above location. The victim told police that they had an argument, and the suspect reportedly pushed and hit her. The victim had a bloody nose; however, she refused medical treatment.

Seven arrests made for selling liquor to minors

On Feb. 21, Elmhurst Police announced that subject to a liquor compliance check on the above date, seven individuals were issued compliance citations for sale of alcohol to a minor: Kim E. Bauer, 59, of Elmhurst, at Doti Liquors; Michelle E. McCarthy, 33, of Downers Grove, at Pints; Maureen K. Bourgart, 24, of Elmhurst, at Mariano’s; Sabrina Hufana, 24, of Chicago; Stephen D. Lahey, 24, of Elmhurst, at Jewel-Osco; Jamie L. Tompkins, 27, of Elmhurst, at Chipotle; and Gwynn A. Loud, 24, of Lombard, at Cuvee Cellars.

Concealed BB pistol, stolen car discovered during traffic stop

On Feb. 17, police said that subsequent to a suspicious vehicle parked behind a location in the 900 block of N. York at around 1:20 a.m., officers made contact with the driver and the passenger. Both subjects stated they were dropping off a friend at Elm Brook. A suspect who was a third passenger in the vehicle was found to be 16 years old and out after curfew, smoked a cigarette and possessing a concealed BB pistol. The vehicle was later found to be stolen/used without permission from Lombard, according to police. The juvenile was issued a citation for a curfew violation and released to the Lombard Police Department after it was found that the vehicle she was driving had been reported stolen.

Suspect becomes irate when fraudulent ID is discovered

On Feb. 18, an employee at a bank in the 500 block of S. York told police at around 12:51 p.m. that a suspect described as a black male in his late 20s wearing an olive green jacket, a black T-shirt and jeans came into the bank and attempted to complete a cash advance. The bank teller found the suspect’s identification to be fraudulent and told him they would be unable to complete the transaction. The suspect reportedly became irate and threatened the bank teller. The suspect demanded his identification; however, he wasn’t given back the driver’s license or USAA credit card. The suspect exited the bank through the east entrance.
