Lombard police report—October 3

INFORMATION TAKEN FROM LOMBARD POLICE FILES

The Lombard Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17 or younger are not named.

Criminal damage, trespassing

Sept. 17

A complainant at a parking lot in the 800 block of W. Foxworth reported that an unknown person used a key to scratch the hood of his vehicle.

A complainant in the 1100 block of E. Washington reported an unknown female threw potted plants in her front yard.

Sept. 16

A complainant near Wilson and Elizabeth reported at 4:16 p.m. that someone damaged his vehicle. Three tires were slashed, and the vehicle was keyed.

Domestic battery, disorderly conduct, domestic incident, dispute, disturbance

Sept. 22

Jeffrey Harlan, 47, of Lombard, was charged with assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct at Extended Stay America, 260 E. 22nd, at 1:29 p.m.

A 19-year-old River Forest man was charged with domestic battery in the 2700 block of E. Technology at 10:08 a.m.

Sept. 19

A 40-year-old Lombard man was charged with domestic battery in the 200 block of E. 22nd at 9:32 p.m.

Sept. 18

A complainant at the Outreach House, 805 S. Main, told police at 8:56 a.m. that a female customer was not following the rules and started swearing at other customers. The female left the store prior to an officer’s arrival.

Sept. 17

A complainant in the 100 block of E. Maple told police he was involved in a physical altercation with his brother.

DUI, transportation of open alcohol

Sept. 22

Andre Harrison, 49, of Maywood, was charged with DUI and speeding in the 700 block of E. Roosevelt at 2:11 a.m.
Police said three juveniles were issued citations for consumption of alcohol by a minor near Main and Willow at 2:09 a.m. Another juvenile was charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor and no valid driver’s license.

Sept. 21

Sarah Mehta, 45, of Villa Park, was charged with DUI in the 800 block of E. Roosevelt at 4:36 p.m.

Sept. 20

Bridget Zito, 53, of Lombard, was charged with DUI, driving without insurance, improper lane usage and disobeying a traffic control signal near St. Charles and Crescent at 9:34 p.m.

Sept. 16

Jose Alvarez-Gallegos, 30, of West Chicago, was charged with aggravated DUI, DUI, illegal transportation of open alcohol, driving with a suspended license and no valid driver’s license in the 300 block of W. Roosevelt at 2:23 a.m.

Harassment, threats

Sept. 19

A complainant in the 300 block of W. Eisenhower advised a disgruntled customer is threatening them.

A complainant at the Yorktown Mall parking lot said he was at a bus stop when a subject made a verbal threat from his balcony. An officer spoke to the subject, who denied saying anything.

Sept. 18

A complainant in the 800 block of Foxworth reported at 6:12 p.m. that another juvenile choked her son and threatened him.

Sept. 17

A complainant in the 2100 block of S. Finley told police she is being harassed by two subjects. Both subjects were contacted and denied sending any messages.

Identity theft, fraud

According to information provided by the Lombard Police Department, police reported four incidents of identity theft or fraud in the village between Sept. 16 and Sept. 22.

Indecent exposure

Sept. 21

Dennis Grillo, 77, of Elburn, was charged with indecent exposure at a restaurant in the 1-100 block of E. Roosevelt at 12:58 p.m.

Missing person

Sept. 21

A complainant in the 2700 block of E. Technology advised that his uncle was missing after being released from the DuPage County Jail. The man was listed as missing.

Road rage

Sept. 19

A complainant near W. Roosevelt and S. Finley reported the driver of a Volkswagen was driving recklessly and almost hit her car. An officer stopped the subject, who advised he thought the complainant had been following him. No complaints were signed.

Suspicious incident

Sept. 22

A subject at Glenbard East High School, 1014 S. Main, reported at 7:27 p.m. a threat of a school shooting written on a school bathroom wall. After conversations with the Bloomingdale, Roselle, and Yorkville police departments, the photo was identified as the same one from the Yorkville Police Department’s public announcement. The suspect who wrote it had already been arrested.

A complainant in the 100 block of S. Main reported that she believed someone was tampering with her phone and deleting photos.

Sept. 20

An employee at Hyatt Place, 2340 S. Fountain Square, said a subject described as a black male has been sleeping in the lobby and refusing to leave. An officer spoke to the subject, who refused to identify himself. He left the hotel.

Sept. 19

A victim in the 1100 block of S. Main said a subject put his arm around her shoulder while she was shopping. The subject left in a blue sports car. An officer was unable to locate the subject.

Sept. 18

A complainant at Glenn Westlake Middle School, 1514 S. Main, told police that she was followed home from work by a co-worker. An officer advised the complainant to also report the incident to her supervisor and human resources.

A complainant in the 300 block of N. Elizabeth advised at 3:40 p.m. that she recently broke up with her boyfriend. She said he was driving around her workplace and calling her. The complainant did not want the subject to be contacted.

Sept. 17

Vincent Robbins, 43, of Lombard, was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm in the 100 block of E. Fountainview at 8:43 p.m.

A complainant in the 300 block of E. Prairie told police that a juvenile on a bicycle called him a derogatory term. The juvenile reportedly made the remark while the complainant was putting a political sign on his lawn.

A caller in the 800 block of W. Foxworth reported at 11:08 p.m. a male screaming in his apartment, and that this had been going on for the past two nights. The complainant thought the subject was screaming at a female. Police contacted the subject, who advised that he had been playing video games online.

Sept. 16

A complainant in the 200 block of W. Harrison said an unknown person wrote “Free Palestine” in chalk on her driveway.

An employee at Glenn Westlake Middle School, 1514 S. Main, reported at 12:34 p.m. that a juvenile was holding a yardstick like a rifle. An officer spoke with the juvenile with permission of the parent.

A complainant at a business in the 800 block of E. Roosevelt advised he was approached by a subject. The subject accused the complainant of following him. The encounter was reported to the office of the business.

Theft, burglary, attempted theft or burglary, forgery, deceptive practice, obstruction, robbery

Sept. 21

A complainant at Fifth Third Bank, 90 Yorktown, advised at 9:49 a.m. that she used the ATM and left her debit card at the machine. Her debit card has since been used several times. She closed her account and opened a new one.

Sept. 18

A complainant at Bucky’s, 2001 S. Highland, reported at 1:35 a.m. that a subject stole items from the business. The complainant then advised there was an issue with the credit card reader. The subject was released on the scene and issued a trespass warning at the request of the complainant.

A victim at the Westin, 70 Yorktown, reported that he left cash in his hotel room. An employee said only $180 was found in the safe.

A complainant in the 100 block of N. Lincoln told police that someone has been stealing the vegetables from her garden. The complainant requested an extra watch of her house.

A complainant at HomeGoods, 102 Yorktown, advised an unknown suspect took her wallet.

Retail theft

The Lombard Police Department reported the following incidents of retail theft or attempted retail theft that took place in the village between Sept. 16 and Sept. 22: Target, 60 Yorktown, at 9:48 p.m. Sept. 18; Culver’s, 1155 S. Main, at 1:397 p.m. Sept. 22; and Dick’s Sporting Goods, 810 E. Butterfield, at 6:32 p.m. Sept. 22.

Sept. 20

Devene Mendiola, 41, of Aurora, was charged with retail theft at JCPenney, 175 Yorktown, at 1:01 p.m.

Sept. 18

Marcus Young, 35, of Bellwood, was issued a citation for retail theft at Target, 60 Yorktown, at 12:59 p.m.

Warrant arrest

Sept. 18

Police said Javier Cifuentes, 40, of Chicago, threw his keys at a co-worker in the 2200 block of S. Stewart at 7:58 a.m. Cifuentes was charged with battery. Cifuentes was transported to the DuPage County Jail for an outstanding failure to appear warrant.

Police said Kayla Collins, 28, of Lombard, was transported to the Lombard Police Department on a warrant at 10:07 p.m.

Sept. 16
Police said Christian Lester, 22, of Lombard, was served with a warrant in the 200 block of N. Broadway at 11:02 a.m.
