Lombard police report

INFORMATION TAKEN FROM LOMBARD POLICE FILES

The Lombard Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims.

Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17 or younger are not named.

Battery

May 30

Martin Smith, 54, of Lombard, was charged with battery in the 200 block of W. Berkshire at 4:30 p.m.

May 29

A complainant in the 700 block of S. Chase reported a subject hit him after a disagreement. No complaints were signed.

Criminal damage, criminal trespassing

May 29

An employee at Buca Di Beppo, 90 Yorktown, reported at 9 p.m. that an ex-employee had been in the parking lot drinking for a while and he wanted him trespassed. The ex-employee was issued a trespass warning.

May 28

A complainant in the Yorktown Shopping Center parking lot reported her windshield was cracked while her vehicle was parked in the lot.

Domestic battery, disorderly conduct, domestic incident, dispute, disturbance

June 1

A complainant in the 700 block of E. Butterfield advised that while he was returning to a hotel, a subject pepper-sprayed him.

May 30

An employee in the 100 block of E. Roosevelt called 911 because a subject became irate after being terminated for theft issues. The subject was given a verbal trespass warning from the premises.

May 28

A 48-year-old La Grange Park woman was charged with domestic battery in the 1000 block of S. Norbury at 10:43 a.m.

May 27

A juvenile was issued a citation for disorderly conduct at SureStay Plus, 222 E. 22nd, at 7:52 p.m.

DUI, DUI-drugs, transportation of open alcohol, possession of open alcohol, consumption of alcohol by a minor, selling alcohol to a minor

June 2

Irene Gallegos, 34, of Joliet, was charged with DUI near Lincoln and Roosevelt at 2:07 a.m.

June 1

Monique Green, 43, of Carol Stream, was charged with DUI, speeding and possession of cannabis near Finley and Wilson at 12:41 a.m.

May 30

Tomas Gernaro Garcia Moreno, 33, of Lombard, was charged with DUI, following too closely and driving without registration lights in the 300 block of S. School at 1:13 a.m.

May 27

Oncurcan Sezgin, 26, of Chicago, was charged with DUI near Church and E. Roosevelt at 9:47 p.m.

Fleeing, eluding

According to information provided by the Lombard Police Department, police reported one incident of fleeing and eluding during which the driver of a vehicle fled the scene after being stopped for a traffic stop by police.

Harassment, threats

May 31

A Pace bus driver in the 300 block of E. Roosevelt advised at 7:29 a.m. that she was verbally abused by a subject while on her route. The driver told the subject to exit the bus, and the subject left the area prior to an officer’s arrival.

May 30

A complainant at Embassy Suites, 707 E. Butterfield, advised that a subject was hired by a second subject to harass the complainant over money that the complainant owed the second subject. Attempts were made to contact the subjects with no results.

May 29

A complainant in the 100 block of Westmore-Meyers reported at 12:48 p.m. that a subject threatened to kill him. An officer informed the complainant how to apply for an order of protection.

May 27

A complainant in the 300 block of W. Grove advised of being threatened by an unknown landscaper from an unknown company.

Identity theft, fraud, forgery

According to information provided by the Lombard Police Department, police reported five incidents of identity theft or fraud in which a victim’s identity was fraudulently used either to make charges on a credit card, open a business, bank or credit account, fraudulently deposit checks, alter a check, receive unemployment benefits—or a victim was convinced by a subject to deposit money into an account, send a check, or to buy gift cards.

Road rage

May 30

A complainant near W 22nd and Finley advised that a subject threw an object threw an object at the complainant’s vehicle during a road rage incident. An officer was not able to make contact with the subject.

Suspicious incident

June 2

A complainant at BP, 1 E. St. Charles, reported a subject tried to purchase tobacco but refused to show an ID. The subject looked like he was going to throw food at the complainant, so the complainant sprayed the subject with Windex.

June 1

A complainant in the 600 block of N. Vista advised of meeting a female whom he believed to be of age in a chat room. After they exchanged numbers, the complainant learned that she was only 16. He immediately stopped talking to her, but wanted to know what to do. An officer advised him to find a safer medium in which to meet people.

May 29

A complainant advised at 2:46 p.m. that while walking near W. St. Charles and N. Park with a witness, four male juveniles surrounded them and tried to bait them into reacting while they recorded on their cell phones. The juveniles ran away when other people approached.

May 28

Complainants advised their 16-year-old daughter was touched inappropriately by a subject in the 200 block of N. Broadview at 3:29 p.m.

May 27

A complainant advised at 2:55 a.m. he was on the phone with a victim when it sounded as if the victim was robbed while Uber driving. An officer made contact with the victim, who advised he was robbed in Chicago and did not require medical assistance.

A complainant in the 300 block of W. Manor advised at 9:58 p.m. that he believes an unknown male has been using binoculars to look at him. The complainant advised he did not want contact to be made with the male.

Theft, burglary, attempted theft or burglary, forgery, deceptive practice, obstruction, robbery

May 30

A complainant in the 1500 block of S. Acorn reported her wallet was stolen from her bag while she was playing basketball.

May 29

A complainant near Finley and Harrison reported teenagers stole a pride flag belonging to a victim. Two juveniles returned the flag, and their guardians were notified.

May 28

Notification was received of a stolen vehicle in the area near Butterfield and Highland at 10:15 a.m. An officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

Retail theft

The Lombard Police Department reported the following incident of retail theft or attempted retail theft that took place in the village between May 27 and June 2: Target, 60 Yorktown, at 8:55 p.m. June 1.

June 2

Joshua Kolakowski, 18, of Lombard, was charged with retail theft at Mariano’s, 345 W. Roosevelt, at 9 p.m.

May 29

Two juveniles were issued citations for retail theft at JCPenney, 175 Yorktown, at 2:22 p.m.

Two juveniles were issued citations for retail theft at Von Maur, 145 Yorktown, at 5:17 p.m.

Warrant arrest

May 30

Police said Lakrystal Loyd, 30, of Harvey, had a warrant out of DuPage County and was taken into custody in the Yorktown Shopping Center area.

Police said Elija Qahhaar, 58, of Lombard, posted cash bond on a warrant in the 700 block of W. Pinebrook at 8:21 p.m.

Police said Arturo Villafuerte, 50, of Villa Park, was taken to DuPage County Jail on two warrants near Charlotte and Parkside.
