The Addison Trail Theatre Department invites you to experience a beloved, classic story that shows the healing power of music and the importance of family and standing up for your beliefs. The school will present its winter musical, “The Sound of Music,” on Feb. 8, 9 and 10 at 7 p.m., as well as a 2 p.m. performance on Sunday.
Addison Trail theatre director Anna McSweeney is happy to bring this production to the school’s stage, as it offers students the opportunity to experience a different and challenging genre.
“‘The Sound of Music’ is such a traditional show, filled with beautiful and nostalgic songs,” she said. “It’s the perfect way to recognize and celebrate the final musical of Music Department Head Mark Corey, who will retire at the end of this school year.”
McSweeney added that along with the 30 Addison Trail students who comprise the cast, eight children from the community also will take the stage as some of the younger Von Trapp family members.
Addison Trail junior Alexandra Marcinkowski, who plays Maria, junior Nathan Redmann in the role of Captain Von Trapp and senior Jack DiDomenic portraying Rolf, are enjoying the change of pace provided by this show and are happy to be part of the production.
Tickets to the Addison Trail production of The Sound of Music are $7 for adults and $5 for ages. 5-17; children younger than 5 are free. It is also free for those with a D88 student ID or a D88 Senior Gold Card.

Fundraiser dinner
On Sunday, Feb. 10 from 4-6:30 p.m., Addison Trail’s Energy Rush dance club will host a fundraiser dinner in the cafeteria before the show. Choose from beef, chicken or veggie fajitas, served with rice and beans, as well as a soda. Tickets are $7 a person. For more information, call 630-628-3365.
