Mike Zangan, MD, age 83, left our earth in peace on November 28, 2023.
He was born on August 12, 1940 in Tehran, Iran. He was the son of the late Boris Zangan and Mariam Zangan-Hashemzadeh.
Mike pursued his studies of medicine in Germany where he graduated with an M.D. degree from the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität of Freiburg/Breisgau.
After his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, he worked as a hospitalist in Germany.
He moved to the USA in 1975 and worked as a physician in the Department of Obstetrics &
Gynecology of Cook County Hospital in Chicago and also was a clinical assistant professor at Chicago Medical School.
A long time Elmhurst resident, he opened Elmhurst Obstetrics & Gynecology in 1983, his solo practice with privileges as a staff physician at Elmhurst Hospital. He loved his patients and served his community diligently and with great devotion until his retirement in 2017. His passion was traveling the world and exploring the customs and cultures of over 100 countries.
Mike leaves behind his loving wife Giselle, his son Steven Zangan, M.D.,(Tracie Wilcox, M.D.), his loving grandsons Maximilian and Vincent, and his sisters Nina and Zina and brother Abe.
A private celebration of life is planned by the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Mike’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Chicago.
