Elmhurst Police Reports

The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Disorderly conduct

Jan. 20

Disorderly conduct was reported at a restaurant in the 100 block of W. First at around 9:10 p.m. Police said two juvenile suspects climbed on the roof of the restaurant and were running on top. Both suspects attempted to flee but were unable to. They were charged with disorderly conduct and released to parents.

An officer responded to Elmhurst City Hall for a harassment report at around 12:08 p.m. The victim related that during the course of her duties as a code enforcement officer, she was conducting a residential inspection in the 100 block of Hampshire. During the inspection, she was required to document and photograph any code violations observed. During her time at the property, a suspect approached her in an irate state and began yelling and screaming at her.

Jan. 19

Officers responded to the 700 block of S. Spring Road to address a report of a domestic/threatening text messages that turned out to be a disorderly conduct report. The victim told police that a suspect was sending him threatening text messages. The victim wanted the suspect out of his house. The suspect subsequently left (matter of record only).

Domestic incident, domestic battery

Jan. 23

A 25-year-old Elmhurst woman was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 700 block of Stratford at around 11:47 a.m. A victim told police that the suspect became angry at him. The suspect went into the basement, confronted the victim, punched him in the face and pulled his hair, according to police.

Jan. 21

A 30-year-old Elmhurst woman was charged with domestic battery in the 100 block of N. Evergreen at around 2:33.a.m. Police said the suspect pinched and scratched a victim, leaving visible injuries.

Jan. 24

Nicholas R. Paleczny, 33, of Plainfield, was charged with DUI-drugs, improper lane usage and driving while license revoked subsequent to a traffic stop near southbound Route 83 and Roosevelt at around 4:30 a.m.

Jan. 21

James F. Kelly, 29, of Elgin, was issued citations by police near Butterfield and York at around 9:41 a.m. for driving under the influence of drugs and improper lane usage. Police said that subsequent to a complaint of a driver slumped over the wheel in a parking lot, a traffic stop for improper lane usage was conducted. According to police, Kelly, the driver, was suspected of drug impairment.

Jennifer Mirante, 38, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI, no insurance and driving without headlights near Second and Elm at around 12:35 a.m., following a traffic stop.

Jeffry D. Salyer, 70, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI and improper starting of a parked vehicle near York and Schiller at around 7:13 p.m.

Jan. 19

Betzaida Izaguirre, 23, of Elk Grove Village, was charged with DUI and trespassing on railroad property near Addison Road at around 11:55 p.m. Police said officers responded to the report of a vehicle stuck on the railroad tracks at the above location. The suspect was located stuck on the tracks and was found to be DUI, according to police.

Roger A. Kucharski, 37, of Chicago, was charged with DUI and failure to reduce speed subsequent to a traffic crash near Walnut and Fremont at around 12:32 p.m. Police said Kucharski was found to be driving under the influence. According to police, Kucharski walked away from vehicle and was found lying between two houses approximately 100 feet from the crash site. Kucharski told an officer he had been drinking vodka, police said.

Harassment

Jan. 23

A victim in the 900 block of N. Church Road reports receiving harassing voicemails at her place of employment. The victim told police that she has had a previous dating relationship with the suspect which terminated four years ago. An officer contacted the suspect, who apologized and agreed to cease further communications.

Obstruction

Jan. 20

Ramon Garcia, 35, of Villa Park, was charged with being a fugitive from justice, obstruction, tinted windows, no insurance and no valid driver’s license. Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop, Garcia was found to have no valid driver’s license and gave false information. He was found to be wanted out of Wayne County, Indiana.

Possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance

Jan. 24

Kenneth J. Wilkins, 26, of Chicago, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of cannabis near westbound Roosevelt to northbound S. Route 83 at around 10:56 p.m. Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop for improper lane usage, an officer smelled a strong odor of fresh cannabis coming from the vehicle. A search of Wilkins was conducted and two white plastic baggies of green leafy substance, suspect cannabis were located, according to police. Police said another clear plastic baggie containing suspect ecstasy was located in his jacket pocket.

Jan. 23

Nathan Gibson, 20, of Franklin Park, and Alexander Mathias, 21, of Northlake, were issued citations by police near Route 83 and Lake Street at around 9:30 p.m. Gibson was cited for possession of cannabis, and Mathias was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jon Najeski, 23, of Villa Park, and a juvenile suspect were issued citations by police for unlawful possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia in the 600 block of W. Fay Ave. at around 11:03 p.m. Police said that subsequent to a suspicious auto at the above location, a reporting officer smelled a strong odor of burnt cannabis coming from inside the vehicle. A search was conducted, and numerous items of drug paraphernalia, cannabis wax, and cannabis were located inside the vehicle, according to police.

Jan. 22

Alejandro Espana, 25, of Melrose Park, was issued citations by police for possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and tinted windows following a traffic stop near York and Third at around 11:43 a.m.

Jan. 21

Jessica Sikora, 29, of Lansing, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, expired registration and speeding near Poplar and Huntington at around 8:56 a.m. Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop, Sikora was found to be in possession of heroin.

Jan. 20

Everado Bautista, 18, of Melrose Park, was issued citations near North and Lake at around 2:16 a.m. for possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop.

Police said Cesar Mas, 28, of Melrose Park, and Nicole Stavrakis, 37, of Bellwood, were issued citations by police for possession of drug paraphernalia subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and St. Charles at around 7:30 p.m.

Theft/burglary/attempted theft or burglary/identity theft/fraud/forgery/deceptive practice/obstruction/robbery

Jan. 25

Police said officers were en route to a bank in the 500 block of S. York Road for a report of a forgery in progress in which a suspect described as a black male, between 20 and 30 years old, around 6-2 and 250 pounds with black hair and brown eyes, wearing a letterman jacket and baggy blue jeans, provided a fake ID and was attempting to withdraw cash from an account. The transaction was not completed. Officers were advised that the suspect left the bank parking lot in a listed vehicle in an unknown direction. The area was checked with no results.

A stolen vehicle was reported at a car dealership in the 200 block of W. Grand Ave. at around 5:18 a.m. The vehicle in question was repossessed and brought to the rear of the dealership. Surveillance cameras show the F250 leaving the lot at 5:18 a.m. after a red Kia driven by a female is seen pulling into the parking lot.

Jan. 24

Cecilia Cruz, 38, of Franklin Park, was issued a citation by police for retail theft at a store in the 200 block of S. Route 83 at around 12:56 p.m. Police said Cruz was observed going into the makeup aisle, removed several items from the shelves and then went to another location in the store. According to police, she then placed those items in her purse and walked past the cash registers where she was stopped by security.

Jan. 13-Jan. 24

Police said roofing material was stolen from a roofing company in the 300 block of S. Chandler at around 1:07 p.m. Four rolls of ice and water barrier and two rolls of felt underlayment were taken.

Jan. 21-Jan. 23

Attempted residential burglary was reported in the 400 block of Addison at around 4:37 p.m. An agent for the victim reports that an unknown suspect attempted to gain entry to the interior laundry room door between the above dates. An officer observed pry marks on the door and the frame. Entry was not gained.

A stolen vehicle was reported at a trucking company in the 700 block of N. York Road. Police said that between the above dates, an unknown suspect removed a blue 2014 Freightliner Cascadia truck from the north employee lot.

Jan. 21

Terra L. Holmes, 27, of Bellwood, was charged with felony unlawful use of a credit card at a restaurant in the 600 block of N. York at around 7 p.m. Police said an officer responded to the restaurant for an unlawful use of credit card report. According to police, the restaurant owner related that someone used a fraudulent credit card to order food, and the transaction was delivered to an address in Berkeley. Police said Holmes admitted she ordered the food online using someone else’s credit card.

Retail theft was reported at a food store in the 600 block of N. York Road at around 11:24 a.m. The store’s loss prevention manager told police that on the above date he received a phone call from the store manager stating that a suspect described as an Hispanic male might have stolen some baby formula. The complainant checked the security footage and observed the suspect wearing a black and white stocking cap, a black hooded jacket and black pants. The suspect reportedly filled up a hand held cart with eight bottles of Enfamil baby formula and exited the store without paying for them. The suspect then entered the passenger seat of a dark blue, Ford Crown Victoria, with gray plastic wheel covers, and possibly a silver antenna on top of the roof, with unknown license plate.

Jan. 19

Retail theft was reported at a food store in the 100 block of E. Schiller at around 9:30 a.m. Police said a suspect described as a black male, approximately 50 years old, 6-foot and 190 pounds with black hair and wearing a gray coat and black pants, ran out of the store with two red gift bags filled with unknown items. The area was checked with no results.

A victim in the 100 block of Elmwood Terrace told police at around 4:32 p.m. that an unknown suspect(s) had been using his credit card. The victim related that he ordered a new Visa card and never received it but when he was checking his statement online, he noticed fraudulent charges that were made in Chicago.

Officer responded for a complaint of an identity theft at around 5:05 p.m. A complainant told police he was contacted by phone by a female who advised she worked for Union Bank & Trust in Lincoln Neb., and stated she had some questions for him in reference the purchase of a Jeep that was late on payments. The complainant related that he did not buy a Jeep. An unknown suspect(s) purchased a Jeep from a car dealership in Nebraska.

Jan. 18-Jan. 19

A victim in the 700 block of Hawthorne told police that between the above dates, an unknown suspect used her Kohl’s credit account three times at three different Kohl’s locations. Fraudulent charges were made in Frankfort, Ill., Mt. Pleasant, Wis. and Racine, Wis. The victim also reports that an Amazon on-line purchase which had been delivered to her house on Jan. 4 was never received. The victim is also unable to locate her Kohl’s credit card. The fraudulent activity was reported to Kohl’s fraud department.

Nov. 10, 2016-Jan. 19

Officers responded to the report of an unlawful use of a credit card at a restaurant in the 600 block of N. York. The owner told police that he received two letters in the mail from Merchant Services informing him that two transactions are being disputed. Each transaction was delivered to an address in Berkeley that were almost identical to each other. Both deliveries were made to a suspect described as a heavy-set female black who was believed to be 40-50 years old.

Jan. 17-Jan. 18

Theft was reported in the 100 block of Evergreen. A business owner told police he had construction material taken from two job sites. Rolls of Tamko roofing felt and rolls of Carlisle Ice guard were taken from the new construction site at the above address. Additionally, rolls of Tamko roofing felt and rolls of Carlisle Ice guard were taken from a different construction site in the 100 block of Cayuga.

Jan. 16

Theft was reported in the 1200 block of S. York at around 1:32 p.m. A victim told police that her two wallets had been taken out of her purse while she was at work. The victim had two prescription medication bottles that were also taken.

Jan. 14

Theft of a vehicle was reported at an auto dealership in the 700 block of W. Grand Ave. at around 11:21 a.m. Video footage was reviewed and a suspect described as a male white, wearing a black hat, black coat and black pants, crawled through the back window of a black Ford F250 pickup truck that was used as a plow vehicle by the dealership. The vehicle was entered into LEADS as stolen.

Jan. 10

A victim in the 200 block of Illinois told police at around 1:47 p.m. that he received two Fifth Third Bank credit cards in the mail, but he never applied for the cards. He reports of previous identity theft in New York.

Jan. 9

A victim in the 1000 block of S. York Road told police at around 10:47 a.m. that they received a job offer for a secret shopper. The victim was told to deposit checks and send cash back to the contacts. The victim did this and was later notified that the checks were fraudulent.

Dec. 14, 2016

Identity theft was reported in the 600 block of W. Lake St. on the above date. Police said an unknown suspect(s) used the victim’s credit card to purchase a diesel motor. An investigation is pending.

Warrant service

Jan. 25

Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near Roosevelt and York at around 1:16 a.m., David Flores, 31, of Arlington Heights, was found to be driving while license suspended. According to police, an officer also located a glass smoking pipe on the rear passenger side floorboard next to Crystal Ledesma, 22, of Chicago. Ledesma was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said it was later learned that Flores was also wanted on two active warrants. Flores was also charged with driving while license suspended, no rear plate light and no insurance.

Jan. 24

Police said an officer responded to the 400 block of W. Alma at around 10:33 p.m. to serve a warrant to Christopher Diederich, 41, of Elmhurst. According to police, officers spoke to Diederich, who was placed into custody and later released on bond.

Police said officers were made aware that Princess Henry, 30, of Elmhurst, was wanted on three warrants out of DuPage County. Henry was placed into custody and transported to DuPage County Jail.

Jan. 23

Police said Michael M. Grant-Ulrich, 21, of Elmhurst, was taken into custody at around 11 a.m., transported to the police station, booked and processed, but was unable to post bond on the warrant and transported to DuPage County Jail.

Jan. 19

Police said Evan Kristov, 23, of Elmhurst, was located in the 100 block of N. York at around 10:28 p.m. and was found to be wanted out of DuPage County on two warrants.
