NANCY L. EWERT
Nancy L. Ewert, teacher, education administrator and resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away unexpectedly in her home on July 9, 2022
Nancy was born on January 25, 1946. She was the daughter of Lorraine A. Manke (née Peterson) and Richard W. Manke. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Ewert.
Left to mourn are her Niece, Goddaughter and best friend Marianne (Scott) Niewiadomski; Great Nephew and Niece Bill and Nicole Niewiadomski; Dear stepchildren and friends David Ewert (Debbie), Sheryl Dresser (Vern) and Laura Thompson (Perry); and step-grandchildren Douglas (Jenna), Daniel, Perry and Jill; and her Brother-in-law Alan Ewert (Mary); and many other family members.
Her dearest friends knew her so very well and were irreplaceable in her life along with her many other friends and colleagues. She always loved connecting with neighbors and reconnecting with old friends.
Her hobbies included bowling, golf, gardening, church ministries, fundraising, game shows and puzzles.
Nancy was a graduate of Northern Illinois University. She had two master’s degrees in Education and Administration and was a retired Education Administrator at SASED (School Association for Special Education in DuPage County), where she had a successful career, touched countless lives and was loved by faculty and students alike. She received many awards for her outstanding service, including Teacher of the Year Award in 1991.
Nancy brought endless joy to her family, was a loyal friend to all that knew her and will be missed by all.
Funeral Services were held Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Peace Lutheran Church, 21W500 Butterfield Road, Lombard. Interment was private.

CHARLES J. KUNDROT
Charles (Chuck) J. Kundrot Jr., 85, of Kankakee, IL, formerly of Galena, Mo, and Lombard, IL, passed away on July 9, 2022, after a short illness. Charles was born in Chicago, the son of Charles Sr. and Dorothy. He was a graduate of Tilden Technical High School, Chicago, in 1955. He worked for the Lombard Police Department from 1961-1987 and retired as a lieutenant.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife Joanne and his sons Charles III and Andrew, his brothers Raymond and Donald. He is survived by his son David (Joelyn); daughters Diane (Steve) Ruhbeck, Jackie (Jerry) Marlow and Karen Minor; and 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; a brother Richard; and a sister Francine Ritchie.

ANN PANATTONI
Ann Panattoni, née Nanni, age 104, long-time resident of Lombard since 1946, passed on July 8, 2022.
Ann was the loving wife to Frank S. Panattoni for 49 years. Dear mother to Ronald (Kay) Panattoni; Linda (late Bob) Hines. Adored grandma to Laura Buck, Sarah (Lance) Warner, late Jeffrey Buck; dear sister to Elizabeth “Betty” (late Barney) Gum, late Mary (late Bob) Remedi, late Louis (late Ann) Nanni; loving aunt, relative and friend to many.
Ann was proud to be a Centenarian. She had an admiration for hummingbirds, animals, gardening and was part of the Lombard Garden Club. She had many hobbies that included crocheting, sewing shirts for her family, puzzles, playing cards and bingo. Ann also loved fishing in Lake Yelenich Park in York Center and enjoyed reading the Lockhorns comic strip. She was a parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church. She moved to Lombard in 1946 and was proud to have lived in the same home for 76 years.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 15th, 2022, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, IL. Interment followed at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton, IL.

GWENDOLYN VANDON
Gwendolyn Ruth Vandon, née Rezac, age 94. Beloved wife of the late George Vandon; loving mother of George, Jr. (Joan) Vandon, Renee (Thomas) Thorsell, Cheryl (Scott) Cramer, and Gail Kathryn Vandon; devoted grandmother of Timothy Vandon, Kristina (Ben Miller) Thorsell, Jonathan Thorsell, Sabrina (Nick) Zeidler-Michaelson; great grandmother of Quinton Thomas Miller; and fond sister of the late Charles Rezac.
Gwendolyn passed away on July 10, 2022. She was born on October 23, 1927, in Chicago to Rose and Charles Rezac. After marrying the love of her life, George Vandon, they moved to Lombard, IL, where they made their home a welcome place for all. Gwen and George were married for 60 years.
Her childhood was filled with the love and laughter of cousins and a close knit family. Family was the center of her life. She adored her children and grandchildren and eagerly cheered them on as they kept her busy attending their extra-curricular activities.
Gwendolyn attained her degree and was a librarian at Bethany Theological Seminary. She loved her career and the people she worked with. When not working, she was an avid lover of the performing arts-attending local and professional events, gardening, and ceramics. She loved to travel. There were memories created on family vacations and, as a couple, they traveled the world. She was a life-long member of the First Church of Lombard and cherished its sense of community.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, July 24, 2022, from 2:30 p.m. until time of service at 3:30 p.m. at First Church of Lombard, 220 S. Main Street, Lombard, IL 60148. Interment Private.

BETTE WEIR
Bette Weir, née McIntyre, age 97, of Villa Park, Illinois. Beloved wife of the late Jerome Weir; loving mother of James, Tom, Mari, and loving mother-in-law to Judy; devoted grandmother of Jerome (Julie Ann); great-grandmother of Karley and Kendall; and friend to many of all ages.
Bette was a devoted parishioner of St. Alexander since 1950 and worked for the Villa Park Public Library for 26 years.
