Police Reports

The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct, disturbance, dispute

June 11

A 32-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with domestic battery in the 200 block of S. Villa at 11:59 a.m. Police said that subsequent to a verbal argument, the suspect grabbed the victim and shook him.

June 10

A reporting officer in the 100 block of W. First responded with the fire department for an alarm call. The fire department stated an unknown person(s) had set off a smoke bomb in the southeast elevator of the parking deck. The fire department was able to restore the alarm and vent out the smoke.

June 9

A complainant at a restaurant in the 100 block of N. York told police at 2:47 p.m. a customer described as a black female between 25 and 45 years old was unhappy about their exact change policy and began yelling at staff. The customer then threw her food order at a door behind an employee and exited the store.

DUI, DUI-drugs, transportation of open alcohol, possession of open alcohol, consumption of alcohol by a minor

June 14

Jill Golowach, 58, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI-drugs and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident subsequent to a vehicle crash in the 900 block of S. York at 8:35 p.m.

June 12

Christopher Barber, 49, of Elmhurst, was issued a citation for possession of liquor in public in the 600 block of N. York at 11:08 p.m.

Bryan Galicia, 24, of Chicago, was charged with DUI and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and Elizabeth at 9:34 p.m.

Marco Anthony US Tiniguar, 28, of Hoffman Estates, was charged with no valid driver’s license, illegal transportation of alcohol and improper lighting subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Diversey at 12:22 a.m.

June 11

Shanae N. Davis, 29, of Alsip, was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of open alcohol, illegal parking on the roadway and no insurance in the 900 block of N. York at 12:10 a.m.

Nadia Nunez, 33, of Downers Grove, was charged with DUI in the 1000 block of S. York at 1:15 a.m.

Fleeing, eluding

According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported one incident of fleeing and eluding during which the driver of a vehicle fled the scene after being stopped for a traffic stop by police.

Obstruction

June 15

Terrah White, 40, of Bellwood, was charged with obstructing identification, driving while license revoked and disobeying traffic control device subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Lake at 9:53 p.m.

Possession of cannabis in a vehicle

According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported three incidents of possession of cannabis by either the driver of a vehicle or a passenger: Jordan Kennedy, 20, of Lake Villa, near First and Addison at 4:39 a.m.; Jayvon Mackey, 24, of Chicago, near North and Clinton at 8:13 p.m.; and Benito Canales, 28 of Maywood, near North and I-290 at 2:37 a.m.;

Possession of a controlled substance

June 9

Jose Moreno, 24, of Cicero, was charged with unlawful possession of controlled substance, unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver, possession of open alcohol by a driver and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop in the 600 block of S. York at 7:04 p.m.

Suspicious circumstances

June 11

A reporting officer responded to the Addison parking deck at 4:32 p.m. for a report of kids throwing things over the top. Upon arrival, there were no kids located. The reporting officer did locate several burnt matches in a pile, a vape pen and several sample size bottles of liquor.

June 15

Identity theft was reported in the 100 block of W. Adelaide at 1:55 p.m. Unknown person(s) opened a PayPal account in the victim’s name. The victim also had unauthorized charges on her Discover Card. The PayPal account was canceled and Discover has credited the charges and authorized a new card.

June 11

Retail theft was reported at a pharmacy in the 100 block of N. Robert Palmer at 3:57 p.m. A complainant relayed an unknown suspect exited the store with a brown accordion-style folder which he did not pay for.

June 10

Police said that subsequent to locating a suspicious vehicle in the 800 block of S. Washington that was reported stolen out of Johnsburg, the reporting officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed last seen eastbound on Butterfield. An ISPERN message was broadcasted. Upon investigation it was discovered the offending vehicle burglarized four vehicles in the 800-900 block of Washington. Further investigation is pending.

June 3-June 7

Theft was reported at an apartment complex between the above dates. A victim relayed she placed two online orders with a company and received confirmation of the delivery. When the victim went to retrieve the packages, they were missing. An investigation is pending.

June 6

Theft by deception was reported in the 600 block of W. North at 12:05 p.m. A victim reported that an unknown suspect sold him a vehicle that had its odometer rolled back. This case pending investigation.

June 4-June 6

A vehicle was reported stolen from an auto dealership in the 700 block of W. Grand. A complainant told police sometime in April, a white 2022 Kia Stinger was towed to the dealership’s overflow lot at North and Route 83. The vehicle had been involved in an accident, had extensive front end damage and was not drivable. The vehicle was reported missing from the lot between the above dates. The vehicle was entered into LEADS as stolen. Further investigation is pending.

May 23

Theft of services was reported at a vehicle rental company in the 600 block of W. North at 10:44 a.m. A complainant related that a suspect rented a white 2014 GMC Savanna box truck and has not returned the vehicle. Several attempts to contact the suspect have been unsuccessful.

Theft of catalytic converters

According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported seven incidents of a catalytic converters being removed and stolen from a vehicle at the following locations: the 200 block of E. Fremont sometime between June 7 and June 9; at an apartment complex in the 100 block of E. Lake sometime between June 8 and June 9; the 200 block of S. Route 83 on June 10; at the Elmhurst Edward Hospital parking lot sometime between June 9 and June 10; in the 400 block of N. York at 9:08 a.m.; in the 400 block of W. Lake at 11:25 a.m.; and from a Comcast work van in the 600 block of W. Lake at 11:40 a.m.

Warrant arrest

June 14

Police said Christopher Binion, 42, of Berkeley, was found to have a valid warrant out of Kane County subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Arthur at 9 p.m.
