JAMES M. Di CRISTOFANO
James M. Di Cristofano, 85, of Lombard, passed away on May 2, 2022.
He was the loving husband of Juliana, nee Ancona, for 35 years; cherished father of Edmund (Laura), Monica (William), Stephen (Paige), and Brian (Lisa); fond grandfather and uncle to many; dear brother of Anthony (Phyllis), Joe (the late Cathy), and Frank (Shirley).
James taught English and Literature at Lane Tech High School, Gordon Tech High School, St. Mel’s, and Loyola Chicago Manley High School. He was also the Newspaper Advisor and Chairman of the English Department at Lane Tech. He loved the Cubs and the Bears, and brought his love of sports to life while coaching high school baseball.
James enjoyed golf, playing once a week when he could find the time. He loved reading and spending time with Cindy, the family dog.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, May 14th, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 12 p.m. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard. Interment to follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Hillside, IL.

SYLVIA A. DZIAK
Sylvia A. Dziak, age 65 of Winfield, passed away on April 18, 2022.
Services were held at Sacred Heart Church, 114 S. Elizabeth St., Lombard, on Wednesday, May 11, 2022.

William “Bill” Elliott of Woodridge, 76, passed away on May 3, 2022.

ALEX J. GAINES JR.
Alex J. Gaines Jr., age 70, of Aurora, Illinois, passed away on May 7, 2022.
He was the loving husband of Janice M., nee Scanlon; beloved father of Stephenie (Donald) Castle, KT (Colleen) Gaines; cherished grampie of Jordan, Kyle and Allie Castle; dear son of the late Alex J. Sr. and the late Jean Gaines; caring brother of Beatrice Gaines, the late Lyman, the late Samuel and the late Rhonda; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews; dear friend and son-in-law of Julie Scanlon.
Alex was a proud Navy Veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. He grew up in Alabama and was a retired Journeyman Millwright. Alex started the Aurora Chapter of PFLAG.
Lying-in-State will occur on May 12 at 10 a.m., with a Funeral Service to follow, at Calvary Episcopal Church, 105 W. Maple, Lombard. Interment at a later date, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.

STAFF SGT. FRANK J. OLSON
Staff Sgt. Frank J. Olson, Retired, 72 years old, of Glendale Heights, passed away on May 4, 2022.
He was the beloved husband of Linda nee Winter for 50 years; loving father of Eric (Kolina) Olson, Jamie (Brian) Guevara, Stephanie (Andy) Hodder, Brandon (Donna) Olson; fond grandfather to Rhianna, Adam, Sophia, Elizabeth, Adam, Jordan, Kristen, Caiden, Ronin, Shea, Logan, Maxwell, Lyla, Leighton, Scarlett, and great-grandfather to Marcey; dear brother to Glen (Janet) Olson, and Glenda (Bruno) Shimkus; loving uncle and relative to many, who will miss him greatly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Alice Olson; and his sister, Pauline Olson.
Frank served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1969-70 where he was an Army Ranger and Green Beret. He was part of the 1st Infantry Division, “The Big Red One.” During his time in the service, he was a decorated soldier receiving the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. After the war he was stationed as a Tank Commander in Germany. He would then go on to serve in the United States Navy Reserve for four years before returning to the Army serving seven years in the Reserves and 18 years Active Guard Reserve (AGR).
He was a longtime Lombardian, graduating from Glenbard East in 1967. He worked as a groundskeeper at Lilacia Park. He would also drive and work on the tanks in Cantigny Park in Wheaton.
Frank enjoyed collecting military memorabilia and was a Civil War Re-enactor with the “10th Illinois”.
He had an artistic side as well, which he channeled in to painting, cartooning, and writing poetry.
Interment was held on Wednesday, May 11, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.

NICHOLAS R. SCHWARTZ
Nicholas R. Schwartz, age 34, suddenly, of Lombard, died April 30, 2022.
Nicholas was the loving son of Richard and Patricia (nee Mayor) Schwartz; loving brother of Brittany (Ricky Stankovski) of Westmont; and relative and friend of many.
Nicholas was a lifelong Lombard resident. He was a 2006 graduate of Glenbard East High School and earned an Associate Degree in Business at the College of DuPage. He worked at Midwest Restorations.
Nicholas loved fishing, sports and cars.
A Memorial Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2022, from 2 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 8:30 p.m.at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment private. Additional parking is available at Lombard Bible Church and First United Methodist Church.

CAROL RUTH SUTOR
Carol Ruth Sutor, 82, née Minford, formally of Lombard, passed away peacefully in Hermosa Beach, California, on April 25. Carol had a long and successful career as Director of Marketing for a large real estate and development firm in California.
Carol was predeceased by her first husband, Thomas Malarkey, and her second loving husband, Stanley. She is survived by her sister Julie (Anthony Johnson), nephews Michael (Windy). David (Crissy), Jeffrey (Lindsey) Johnson, brother Thomas (Pamela) Minford, stepchildren Steve (Deborah) Sutor, Suzanne (David) Zabawsky, David (Nancy) Sutor, step grandchildren, great grandchildren and great nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
