On Sunday, April 10, at 7 p.m., seven faculty members of the Elmhurst University Music Department will join together in a showcase recital for Elmhurst music students and the greater Elmhurst community.
The Spring Faculty Recital will be performed in the Buik Recital Hall inside the Irion Hall Music Building on the Elmhurst University campus.
The faculty to be showcased include several new, young faculty members, including Professor of Saxophone Matt Beck and Professor of Trumpet Chris O’Hara. Returning faculty members include Professor of French Horn Anna Mayne, Professor of Trombone Tom Stark, Professor of Violin Edgar Gabriel, Professor of Viola Ai Melby, Professor of Guitar Steve Vazquez, and Professor of Piano Linda Camp. Camp will also serve as accompanist for the recital. A variety of solo repertoire will be performed encompassing various styles and musical periods, including music performed on natural horn and another employing electronic effects.
All of these outstanding faculty members have either national or international reputations as performers, soloists and clinicians. Their performances include the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Lyric Opera Orchestra to the Picosa Contemporary Music Ensemble to the Alliance Brass and to international stages in twelve countries across Europe and Asia.
