At 7 p.m. at the Elmhurst Public Library, the Elmhurst League of Women Voters will meet. Meeting topic: “How Judges Are Rated and Why It Is Important To Vote For Them.” Our presenter will be Azam Niazmuddin, an adjunct professor at Loyola University, and a practicing attorney with more than 20 years’ experience. Free and open to the public. Not an Elmhurst Library program.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., meet archaeologist and exhibit partner Sara Pfannkuche in the museum’s first floor gallery and learn about the myths and truths behind this fascinating profession. Explore the “People of the Prairie” exhibit on a day reserved just for families and try out a variety of archaeology-based activities for kids including a “clean” indoor dig, timeline games, and a mobile gallery interactive. Wednesday, March 30
Do you have what it takes to bring down a mastodon or a bison? Participants in this off-site workshop from 1-2 p.m. will learn about different tools used to hunt big game in this area before the arrival of modern weapons. Learn about a spear-throwing device called an atlatl, which helped ancient hunters throw spears harder and further. Kids can test their skills with a bow and arrow. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., drop in at the Elmhurst History Museum to hear the story of “The Three Sisters,” the Native method of planting corn, beans and squash together in a harmonious ecosystem. At 2 p.m., author Susan Kelsey shares the intriguing story of Billy Caldwell and the Great Lakes Trail, a Chicago man of Native and Irish descent caught between two nations. At 10 a.m., there will be free Medicare education for those who are turning 65 or for people who would like additional information outside of the Medicare open enrollment period in the fall. It will be held at the Elmhurst American Legion Post THB #187 located at 310 W. Butterfield Road. 1-800-205-5176 RSVP appreciated but not required.

The Chicago Accordion Club meets on the third Monday of every month from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the Elmhurst American Legion, 310 W. Butterfield Rd. Visitors are welcome. Every meeting fee includes professional musical entertainment and pizza. Admission is $12 for members and $15 for non-members.

‘People of the Prairie’ now open at EHM
The Elmhurst History Museum at 120 E. Park Ave. in downtown Elmhurst, will use an archaeological lens to gain a deeper understanding of the vibrant Native cultures and communities of the earliest inhabitants in their latest exhibit, People of the Prairie: 12,000 Years in DuPage County. Elmhurst Art Museum’s
new exhibition opens
Beginning Saturday, Feb. 5, the Elmhurst Art Museum hosts its newest exhibit “Houses of Tomorrow: Solar Homes from Keck to Today.” It will remain through May 29. Sponsored by DuPage Foundation, Graham Foundation, Artis Grant Program and Room & Board home furnishings.
