The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Criminal damage, criminal trespass
Feb. 6
A complainant in the 600 block of W. Grand told police at 5:13 p.m. that while doing work at the above location, an unknown suspect(s) damaged the rear-view mirror on his loaner vehicle. This case is pending investigation.
Feb. 4-Feb. 5
A reporting officer located a vehicle with a shattered driver’s side window parked in a parking lot in the 400 block of W. Lake. It was determined some time overnight an unknown suspect attempted to gain entry to the vehicle. Entry was not gained and nothing appeared to be missing from the vehicle.
Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct, disturbance
Feb. 7
A 21-year-old Elmhurst man was taken into custody on a warrant and charged with two counts of domestic battery on the above date from an incident at Elmhurst Hospital that occurred Feb. 2. A victim related after picking up the suspect from Elmhurst Hospital they got into a verbal argument upon returning home. The victim began trying to record the suspect’s actions when she attempted to grab the phone. The suspect grabbed the victim’s arm and scratched his right wrist. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the police station. The suspect made suicidal statements and was transported to Elmhurst Hospital for an evaluation.
DUI, DUI-drugs, transportation of open alcohol, possession of open alcohol, consumption of alcohol by a minor
Feb. 7
Vanessa Lulling, 35, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage, transportation of open alcohol by driver and no insurance subsequent to a well-being check on a vehicle that ran off the roadway and was on fire near Route 83 and Lake at 11:41 p.m.
Feb. 6
Andriana Lopez, 28, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI, failure to signal, operating a vehicle in unsafe condition and no insurance near Lake and Grand at 5:28 a.m.
Janene Mujica, 39, of Hanover Park, was charged with DUI, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage and no insurance near North and Indiana at 10:35 p.m.
Feb. 5
Joshua Britt, 30, of Bensenville, was charged with DUI, speeding, failure to signal, improper lane usage, unlawful possession of cannabis in a vehicle and illegal transportation of open alcohol subsequent to a traffic stop near I-290 and St. Charles at 2:14 a.m.
Dakota Foster, 31, of Bolingbrook, was charged with DUI and illegal transportation of open alcohol near Poplar and Huntington at 3 a.m.
Feb. 4
Kaylynn Espinoza, 26, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage and unlawful possession of cannabis subsequent to a vehicle crash near Route 83 and North at 8:33 p.m.
Fleeing, eluding
According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported one incident of fleeing and eluding in which drivers of a vehicle reportedly fled after a traffic stop was conducted.
Harassment, threats
Feb. 8
A victim in the 100 block of Fellows reported at 11:17 a.m. that management was discussing rent with the suspect. While on the phone, the suspect threatened the victim. Several moments later the suspect entered the property manager’s office and caused a disturbance. The suspect was advised to leave the office area and conduct any further business via telephone.

Feb. 8
Miguel Palomar, 43, of Chicago, was charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident and improper lane usage near North and Larch at 1:42 p.m.
Possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a controlled substance
Feb. 9
Police said while a reporting officer was on patrol, the officer observed a white Ford pickup which was reported stolen out of Carol Stream. The vehicle was stopped. David Bonner, 49, of Elmhurst, and Shantae D. Davis, 25, of Carol Stream, were found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, according to police. Davis also had a warrant out of the Broadview Police Department, according to police. The vehicle was released to the Carol Stream Police Department. Bonner was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and released. Davis was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and released to the custody of the Broadview Police Department.
Joseph Martinez, 28, of Fresno, Calif., was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (heroin), DUI-drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of hypodermic syringe, improper lane usage, failure to dim headlights, no front registration plate displayed and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Indiana at 9:43 p.m.

Feb. 9
A victim’s mother reported at 4:13 p.m. that an unknown suspect has been seen in the neighborhood for the past two years. The victim thinks the suspect is following her.

Jan. 1-Feb. 7
Fraud was reported at 2:02 p.m. A family member believes the suspect has been draining his mother’s finances. An investigation is pending.
Feb. 6
Theft of vehicle parts was reported at Elm Creek Drive at 2:11 p.m. A victim reported an unknown suspect(s) removed the catalytic converter from her vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot.
Feb. 5
Theft was reported in the 600 block of N. York at 4:11 p.m. A reporting officer met with the victim who reported an unknown suspect(s) removed credit cards and cash from his wallet. He is unsure when the items were taken but stated he was at the above location where he locked his wallet in a locker. This case is pending investigation.
Theft of vehicle parts was reported in the 200 block of N. York at 2:48 p.m. A victim reported an unknown suspect(s) removed the catalytic converter from her vehicle while it was parked in a parking lot.
Identity theft was reported in the 100 block of N. Berteau at 5:19 p.m. A victim reported an unknown suspect(s) gained access to his insurance account information and changed the location of the property insured.
Feb. 4
Burglary was reported at a liquor store in the 100 block of E. Fullerton at 2:04 a.m. A reporting officer located broken glass where an unknown suspect had forced entry to the business and removed several bottles of liquor. The unknown suspect left the area in a light-colored Dodge pick-up truck with a plow attached to the front. This case is pending investigation.
Deceptive practice was reported in the 1200 block of S. York at 9:20 a.m. A reporting officer met with the complainant who reported a check, which had already been cashed, was reused in a new amount. The complainant contacted the bank and requested the check be declined. This case is pending further investigation.
Feb. 1
Terrell Jones, 57, of Chicago, was charged with burglary, identity theft and theft in the 1-100 block of E. North at 3 p.m. According to police, a reporting officer made contact with Jones, who was found to have taken the victim’s wallet and used her credit cards at a Mobil gas station in Elmhurst and at the
Target store in Villa Park.
Jan. 26
Tejah Pace, 26, of Chicago, was charged with identity theft. According to police, a victim related an unknown suspect(s) used her personal information to open a credit card and car loan in her name sometime between Aug. 13 and Aug. 26, 2021. Subsequent to an investigation, Pace was taken into custody on the above date and charged.
Jan. 1
Theft by deception was reported at Atrium Way at 12:35 p.m. A victim reports he was contacted via internet by an unknown person identifying herself as Salma Hayek. The suspect convinced the victim to transfer funds to an unknown account. The victim complied with the suspect and transferred the funds. An investigation is pending.
Dec. 30-Jan. 26
Theft was reported at a business in the 300 block of W. Lake. Police said a reporting officer met with the complainant who reported two vials of Fentanyl were taken some time between the above dates. The vials were stored in a safe and are assigned to a specific ambulance. This case is pending investigation.
Dec. 9-Jan. 17
Identity theft was reported in the 100 block of N. Avon. A victim advised he received notice of a traffic citation issued in Jefferson County, Iowa with his driver’s license number fraudulently used. The victim filed a report with the agency in Iowa and was directed to also file a report in his local jurisdiction. He was still in physical possession of his driver’s license.
Unemployment benefits identity theft
According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported one incident of identity theft with the intention of using a victim’s personal information to fraudulently apply for unemployment benefits through the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
Warrant arrest
Feb. 4
Police said Chiquita Lee, 52, of Aurora, was found to have a failure to appear warrant out of the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office in the 100 block of E. First at 2:33 p.m.
