Dale Wendell Stevens passed away peacefully on January 24, 2022 at the age of 92.
Dale was born September 1, 1929 in Kalamazoo, Mich., and raised in Elkhart, Indiana. He spent many summers with his grandfather, Irving Wilfore, in St. Petersburg, Fla. Dale faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He graduated from Northwestern University with a BA in Communications. Dale began his career in broadcasting at WIND, becoming the general sales manager. He spent most of his career as owner of WMRO (AM) and WAUR (FM). Dale was also commodore of the Abbey Yacht Club 1982-1983.
Beloved husband of 62 years to Joyce M. Stevens; cherished father of Holly S. Oberrieder and Laurie Stevens (Jim Voutiritsas); doting grandfather of Emily J. Horning (Dan) and Bradley Oberrieder; loving great grandfather of Everly and Lilly Horning. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Jessie “Dadean” Cripe, and mother, Doris Anderson.
Services were held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Elmhurst. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be written to Dale’s favorite organization, Lovin 4’s Rescue, 3226 N. Raynor Ave. Union Grove, WI 53182.
