J. Edward “Ed” Shea, 77

J. Edward “Ed” Shea, of Elmhurst, died on Dec. 27, 2021 after a short illness, at the age of 77. Born in New Jersey, longtime resident of Elmhurst and since 2021, Park Place of Elmhurst. Survived by wife of 52 years, Cathy Beahan Shea; children Kate Shea of California and Kevin (Betsy) Shea of LaGrange, IL; grandchildren Jake, Jeremy and Tessa Lopez of California and Colin, Emmett, and Meara Shea of LaGrange, IL; sister Mary Beth (Jeffrey) Schmidt, in-laws Thomas (the late Deborah) and Frank Beahan, Mary (the late Jack) McGovern, Ellen Burns; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Edward and Anne Urkanis Shea and in-laws Raymond and Anita Beahan, Margaret Beahan, and Ann (Arnie) Wallace. Ed was educated at Mt. Carmel College and University of Illinois. He became a social worker in private practice, helping countless couples in marriage counseling.
