Fuel station employee allegedly steals lottery tickets

On Oct. 22, Arturo Arevalo, 20, of Bellwood, was charged with retail theft at a gas station in the 600 block of W. North at 9:49 a.m. According to police, the loss prevention manager at the gas station discovered that Arevalo, an employee, stole Illinois Lottery tickets during the shifts he worked at the register. Police said Arevalo admitted to stealing the tickets.

Victim sent cash to suspect met on a dating site

Deceptive practice was reported in the 400 block of E. Vallette between the dates of June 1-Oct. 26. A victim reported she sent an unknown suspect various gift cards and Bitcoin. The victim stated she began communicating with the suspect through an online dating site and had been sending the unknown suspect money for about a month.

Juveniles caught vaping cannabis in York restroom

Police said a reporting officer and school officials at York High School located two juveniles vaping in the school bathroom. Both juveniles were found to be in possession of vape devices containing cannabis wax. The juveniles were cited for possession of cannabis under the age of 21 and were released back to their classrooms.

Underage subjects found with cannabis face school officials

On Oct. 26, police said that subsequent to a report of a suspicious vehicle, a reporting officer made contact with the occupants of a suspicious vehicle and found Lluvia Acosta, 18, of Bensenville, to be in possession of cannabis while under the age of 21. Acosta was cited for possession of cannabis under 21. All subjects were transported to York High School where they met with school administration.

Officer reports student conducted ‘alarming’ search on York computer

On Oct. 27, a reporting officer was contacted by York High School officials at 1:01 p.m. regarding a student who conducted an “alarming” online search using a school computer. The reporting officer met with the student who admitted to making the online searches after seeing similar videos on social media but denied any criminal activity.
