The Willowbrook girls volleyball team won seven matches during the week of Oct. 4 to improve its overall season record to 26-0. The Warriors began the week with a 25-12, 25-15 West Suburban Gold Conference win at Hinsdale South on Oct. 5. Two days later, Willowbrook defeated York 25-19, 25-17. Freshman Hannah Kenny (No. 10) of the Warriors is pictured during the Oct. 7 match against the Dukes in Villa Park. Kenny contributed six kills, seven digs and 10 assists in the victory, which gave the Warriors an overall season record of 21-0. Willowbrook moved to 26-0 by winning all five of its matches and claiming the championship plaque at Saturday’s Elk Grove Invite. Willowbrook will complete its regular season with next week’s matches against Leyden and West Chicago. The Warriors will open the IHSA Class 4A post-season by playing a regional-semifinal match on their home court on Oct. 26. The Willowbrook girls volleyball program has never won a regional title. If the Warriors can win a regional championship this year, they will advance to the semifinals of the Bartlett Sectional. The Warriors are the top-seeded team in that sectional, which includes 17 teams.
