Bernice E. Hunt, nee Loosemore, of Villa Park, passed away on September 9, 2021, at the age of 96, surrounded by the prayers of her loved ones. Bernice was born on May 3, 1925, in Skanee, Mich., to the late George and Hazel (Barnett) Loosemore. She attended Skanee School through grade 10 and graduated from L’Anse High School in 1943. She worked in Detroit for the United States Weather Bureau until she was 20 years old and eligible to join the United States Navy Waves. She was stationed in New York and Great Lakes, where she met her future husband, Ray D. Hunt, at the USO in Chicago. They were married for 39 years.
Not only was she a proud United States Navy and WWII veteran, but she was also a long-time member and Sunday school teacher at Concordia Lutheran Church in Hillside, Ill. She later became a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Elmhurst. Bernice and Ray worked together to establish Hunt Properties, building and managing their industrial buildings for many years.
She is survived by her loving children Tracy (Catharine) Hunt and Kathy Turner; adoring grandchildren Beth Hunt, Brian Hunt, Alex Turner, and Kelsey Turner; cherished brother Wesley Loosemore; and many treasured nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, and her sister Delores. A memorial service will be held at a day and time to be determined. Interment at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst.
