Louise Adele Cripe, of Elmhurst, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children, at Artis Senior Living, Elmhurst, on Friday, June 18, 2021 at the age of 89. She was born in Chicago on June 11, 1932, the daughter of Edwin and Esther Lindell. After graduating from Carl Schurz High School, class of 1950, Louise married Robert A. Cripe on April 7, and they shared 42 years together before his passing on March 13, 1993. She received her teaching degree from Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago, and served locally as a teacher for several years. She was the accountant for Cripe’s Sheet Metal for many years thereafter. She loved oil painting, cooking, square dancing, many travels with Bob to Hawaii and abroad, her Swedish heritage, and serving her church. Louise was a very loving, caring, and giving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and she will be greatly missed. Louise is survived by her children: Cheryl (Dan) Bricker, Susan (Steve) Benzon, Larry (Marybeth) Cripe, Ken (Vicki) Cripe, and daughter in law, Debbie Cripe; grandchildren: Christine Bolger, Michelle Larson, Jake and Justin Bricker, Peter, Drew, John, and Robert Benzon, Steven, Meryl, Ben, Cassidy, and Charlie Cripe, and nine great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; two siblings, Ed Lindell and Linnea Sorthun; her husband Robert; and a son Steven.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 26 at Elmhurst Community Funeral Home – The Ahlgrim Chapel, 567 Spring Road, Elmhurst, with a visitation from 11 a.m. until time of service.
