Elmhurst Police are investigating an aggravated vehicle hijacking that occurred on June 8, 2021 at 7:50 pm, in the area of Lake and Emroy. The victim had posted his 2012 Dodge Charger automobile for sale on an internet site and agreed to meet a perspective buyer at Crestview Park in Elmhurst. The victim allowed the prospective buyers to sit inside the car and test drive the vehicle. At Lake and Emroy one of the two prospective buyers produced a handgun and ordered the owner out of the car. The offenders fled the area N/B on County Line Road with the victim’s Charger. A short time later, Elmhurst detectives recovered the stolen Charger abandoned in Lynwood, IL.
The offenders were described as:
#1, Male/Black, 20-23 years of age, thin build wearing a head cover, white tank top and black shorts.
#2, Male/Black, 20-23 years of age, thin build wearing a ski mask, black t-shirt and black shorts. He was armed with a handgun.
Police encourage residents to make internet transactions in the lobby of the Elmhurst Police Department. The station is open and staffed 24-hours a day and is accessible to the public.
