Edward Walter Schneider, U.S. Navy Veteran, of Elmhurst, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, April 24, 2021, at the age of 95. Beloved husband of the late Sharon (née Nudare); loving father of Barbara (George) Szczepaniak, Richard (Raelynn) Schneider, and Allison (J.R. Beaver) Haas; cherished grandfather of Ryan (Mary) Szczepaniak, Bethany (Ralph) Massuci, Michelle Szczepaniak, Bradley Haas, Scott (Madi) Haas, Kelli Haas and Rachel Schneider; proud great-grandfather of Ralphie and Lorenzo Massuci. He is preceded by his parents Edward Carl and Helen (née Reher) Schneider, and his sister, Hazel (Joe) Reichman.
Born in Hinsdale, Edward lived most of his life in Elmhurst and was a dedicated volunteer at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital for many years, officially having logged an amazing 5500 hours. He was employed at Mohr Oil Company, Forest Park, as a comptroller for more than 30 years and was a long-time member of the Epiphany Evangelical Lutheran Church choir in Elmhurst. His love of dancing and varied styles of music was evident by his vast collection of CDs which he listened to often. Along with his love of driving, he and Sharon spent much of their retired years traveling to Europe and RV’ing around the U.S. Ed placed a high value on his family and longtime friendships and will be missed dearly.
