John H. Prush, of Elmhurst, died April 11, 2021, at the age of 76. He was preceded in death by his wife Judith (nee Corro) Prush; son Jeffrey Prush, sister Rose Marie (Harold) Willison of Woodridge, and sister Frances (Ken) Whittenhall of Bolingbrook; father John Prush and mother Eleanor (nee Rezykrantz) Prush. John leaves behind a son Wylie “Tim” Prush, daughter Heather (Doug) Perry, five grandchildren: Ryan, Amelia, Natalie, Evelyn, and Gracie Perry, and daughter Kathy Prush.
John was born in Chicago and graduated from Lane Tech High School. In 1963, John was drafted into the Army and trained at the Army Corps of Engineering school at Ft. Belvoir as an engineering surveyor. After serving in Vietnam, John attended Wright Junior College and received his Civil Engineer Surveyor Certification. John found work as a civil engineer working on many well-known projects in the Chicago area including the Cermak Road Bridge (a Scherzinger rolling bascule bridge) and working for more than 30 years on the O’Hare expansion on many different projects. John was a lover of animals and was even known to take in an injured squirrel from time-to-time.

Richard Hass, 89
Richard Hass passed away peacefully and into the arms of the Lord on April 16 at the age of 89. Richard was a U.S. Army veteran and social worker and served at Lutheran Child & Family Services as a social worker for 42 years, in part as a Director at Lutherbrook in Addison. After retirement, Richard was honored by the City of Elmhurst for his years of volunteer service at the Elmhurst Walk-in ministry, and later volunteered at the Bronco resale shop. Throughout his life, Richard enjoyed serving in various capacities at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elmhurst, reading historical fiction and nonfiction, tending to his rose bushes, gardening, and vacationing with his family. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife of 66 years, Joanne. He is survived by Joanne, his three children, Karen (Tim Morrall), Glen (Kathy), Paul (Kelly), and five grandchildren Mandy, Brian, Adam, Hallie, and Carlin. He was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Eleanor, and his brother Charles. A memorial visitation will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church (123 E St. Charles, Elmhurst, IL) on April 24, 2021 from 10 AM until time of service, 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Lutheran Child & Family Services or Redeemer Lutheran Church would be appreciated by the family.
