Isham Russell Moses, Jr., or “Russ Moses,” was born July 8, 1926 in Maywood and passed away on April 7, 2021, in Lombard. Beloved husband of Mary Lou, nee Tiberi, married June 9, 1996.
Devoted father of Cheryl (the late Robert) Palko, Bruce (Jan) Moses, Sandra (Donald) Muellner, and Gregory (Donna) Moses; loving grandfather of eight and great-grandfather of 21. Survived by his loving sister Joyce (the late Joseph) Turyna. Proud uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his first wife Gloria Jean, nee Kenyon; and siblings Linda (Fred) Forester, George (Nancy) Moses, Gwen (Tony) Conti and Billy (Stan) Deuitch; and his parents, Isham Russell Moses, Sr. and Emaline Moses, nee Bunch.
Russ proudly served as a medic in the Army from April 1, 1946 to October 2, 1947. He worked at Sears Roebuck for more than 30 years, where he earned Salesman of the Year Award more than once. He faithfully supported First Congregational Church of Villa Park for many years. He was a longtime member of Elmhurst Masonic Lodge 941. Russ was loved and admired by almost everyone he met, due to his wonderfully friendly, congenial personality. Many children loved “Uncle Russ” as he entertained them with his never-ending jokes, songs, funny stories, and his famous “magic” trick performances. His own kids feel truly blessed to have had him as our beloved dad. He will be sadly missed. Earth’s loss is Heaven’s gain.
Funeral service was held on Thursday, April 15 at 10 a.m. at Steuerle Chapel, 350 S Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment Fairmont-Willow Hills Memorial Park.
