William T. Loughman passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, at the age of 89. Born in Chicago to William J. and Josephine, nee Jucik, Loughman. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois in 1952. Bill flew fighter jets for the Air Force and Air National Guard and became an airline pilot. Bill flew for North Central Airlines and American Airlines for the next 35 years and met his wife, Boots, when she was a flight attendant for North Central. Bill had a passion for reading and applied it to baseball and history via newspapers. An avid collector, he accumulated publications, photographs and baseball cards. The diehard Cubs fan listened to classical music and liked spending time at home after a career of international travel. Bill was known for his wit, calm demeanor, wealth of knowledge and silver-tongue. Bill was the beloved husband of Boots for more than 58 years; loving father of Mike (Deb) Loughman, Katie (Bob) Theophilus, Pat (Colleen) Loughman and Dan (Julie) Loughman; proud grandfather of TJ and Kelly Loughman, Kevin and Kyle Theophilus, Sarah and Anna Loughman and Emily, Caroline and Will Loughman.
