The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Assault, battery
March 18
Police said a victim in the 200 block of S. Fair told police at around 1:33 p.m. that Chester Harrison, 74, of Elmhurst, grabbed his phone from his hands and threw it. According to police, a reporting officer met with Harrison, who stated he was upset and took out his
frustration on the victim. Harrison was charged with battery.
Criminal trespass
March 22
A complainant at a business in the 500 block of W. Lake told police at around 10:24 a.m. that an unknown suspect entered the building through an open rear overhead dock door. After being questioned if he was an employee, he stated he
was. Video surveillance showed the suspect leaving the building with two bags. Nothing appeared to be missing from the business.
March 19
A complainant in the 100 block of E. Vallette told police at around 3:52 p.m. that an acquaintance showed up at the residence requesting to be let in. The complainant stated the suspect appeared to be intoxicated. A reporting officer issued the suspect with a no trespass notice.
Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct
March 24
A 33-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with domestic battery in the 300 block of W. Kimball at around 12:46 p.m. A victim told police that the suspect struck her and choked her.
Police said an officer responded to a business in the 600 block of N. York at around 6:10 p.m. for the report of a disturbance. A complainant told police that the suspects entered the business, began to yell and swear at the
victim, and threatened her. The complainant did not wish to sign complaints but wanted the suspects to be trespassed from the property. Both suspects were served with a no trespass notice and were released.
March 19
A 24-year-old Chicago woman was charged with two counts of domestic battery and resisting a police officer in the 400 block of W. Lake at around 1:50 a.m. A reporting officer met with the victim who stated the suspect had battered him. Upon further investigation, the suspect also was found to have an active warrant.
DUI, DUI-drugs, illegal transportation of alcohol
March 24
Eduardo Martinez, 29, of Streamwood, was charged with DUI, possession of open alcohol in a vehicle and disobeying a traffic control device subsequent to a traffic crash near West and North at around 12:59 p.m.
March 21
Gina Ligeikis, 49, of Melrose Park, was charged with DUI, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near N. York and Lake at around 2:26 a.m.
Nicole Moore, 27, of Berwyn, was charged with DUI, carrying a concealed firearm while under the influence of alcohol, speeding and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near S. Route 83 and Roosevelt at around 3:31 a.m.
Laishamarie Morales, 21, of Roselle, was charged with illegal possession of open alcohol, unlawful possession of cannabis by the driver, no valid driver’s license and no seat belt subsequent to a single vehicle crash near W. Roosevelt and S. Route 83 at around 2:05 a.m.
Nicholas Needham, 26, of Ingleside, was charged with DUI, possession of cannabis in a vehicle and disobeying a traffic control device subsequent to a traffic stop near S. York and W. Adelaide at around 1:45 a.m.
Stuyvesant Peabody, 59, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage and driving on an unsafe tire subsequent to a traffic stop near W. North and N. West at around 12:05 a.m.
March 20
Santiago Giraldo Acosta, 23, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of open alcohol and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near N. Route 83 and W. Second at around 12:52 a.m.
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near N. Oaklawn and W. North at around 11:19 p.m., suspects were found to have consumed alcohol while being under the age of 21. All juveniles were issued citations for consumption of alcohol by a minor and no seat belt. All were released on scene to their parents.

Adam Skowronski, 21, of Wood Dale, was charged with DUI, speeding, obstructive view, unsafe equipment, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near N. Berteau and E. Schiller at around 11:53 p.m.
March 18
Queni Garcia-Leiva, 25, of Bensenville, was charged with DUI, speeding, improper lane usage, no valid driver’s license, failure to signal and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near N. Route 83 and W. Lake at around 11:53 p.m.
Fleeing, eluding
March 22
Briana Meeks, 24, of Chicago, was charged with fleeing and eluding and disobeying a traffic control device near Route 83 and I-290 at around 1:46 a.m. Police said a reporting officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle that was reported stolen out of Chicago. The vehicle allegedly fled from officers and was last seen headed
northbound on Route 83. The vehicle was later located and stopped by the Wood Dale Police Department and Meeks was taken into custody, according to police.
Harassment, threats
March 20
Police said officers responded to a well-being check at around 1:19 a.m. The complainant stated the suspect made threats towards him. The suspect denied making any threatening statements and further stated he was receiving obscene text messages from the complainant. Both the complainant and suspect agreed to have no further
contact.
Obstruction
March 21
Shaikeyla Brock, 27, of Bellwood, was charged with two counts of obstructing identification, driving while license suspended, unlawful possession of cannabis by the driver, unlawful display of registration, attempted unauthorized possession of registration and no front registration plate subsequent to a traffic stop near W. Lake and N. Church at around 5:12 p.m. Police said a reporting officer made contact with Brock who had provided two false names and dates of birth. Upon further investigation, police said it was determined the vehicle’s rear registration was reported stolen out of Bellwood.
March 18
Marquand Williams, 18, of Chicago, was charged with obstructing identification, on valid driver’s license and no seat belt subsequent to a traffic stop near W. North and N. Route 83 at around 3:44 p.m.

Jalen M. Arnold, 23, of Broadview, was issued citations for unlawful possession of cannabis in a vehicle and tinted windows subsequent to a traffic stop near Roosevelt and York at around 3:22 a.m.

Arturo Vergara, 27, of Chicago, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, driving while license suspended and obstructed view/tinted windows subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and North at around 1:08 a.m. Police said Vergara was in possession of cocaine.
March 21
Adrian Scott, 22, of Maywood, was issued citations for unlawful possession of cannabis by the driver and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near W. North and N. Oaklawn at around 12:44 a.m.
March 20
Valery Champion, 22, of Chicago, was issued citations for possession of cannabis in a vehicle and no seat belt; Antonio Hernandez-Rodriguez, 21, of Chicago, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis in a vehicle; and James Santana, 21, of Chicago, was issued a citation for no seat belt and also was found to have a valid warrant out of the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, according to police; subsequent to a traffic stop near N. Route 83 and W. North at around 11:38 p.m.
Sierra Spain, 21, of Elmhurst, was issued citations for possession of cannabis in a vehicle and expired registration subsequent to a traffic stop near W. Third and N. West at around 10:02 p.m.

Julian Billips-Lee, 28, of Bellwood, was issued citations for possession of cannabis in a vehicle and disobeying a traffic control device subsequent to a traffic stop near Robert Palmer Drive and Marion at around 3:50 p.m.
Suspicious circumstances
March 22
Police said a reporting officer responded to Elmhurst Hospital for the report of a suspect who was highly intoxicated and was threatening hospital staff at around 4:58 a.m. The complainant wanted the suspect trespassed from the property. The suspect was issued a no trespass notice.
Theft or burglary/identity theft/fraud/forgery/deceptive practice/obstruction/robbery
March 23
Donald Swope, 50, of Chicago, and Demetrius Jackson, 35, of Chicago, were charged with burglary and retail theft at a food store in the 1100 block of S. York at around 2:43 p.m. Police said that Subsequent to an investigation, the suspects were observed exiting the store with liquor they did not pay for.
Retail theft was reported at a food store in the 100 block of E. Schiller at around 4:06 p.m. Police said that upon arrival, a complainant related she observed the suspect remove a bottle of liquor from the shelf and exit the store. Upon checking the shelves, a bottle of vodka was missing.
March 9-March 23
Theft was reported in the 400 block of E. Lake. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) removed two bronze vases from two family members’ headstones at Elm Lawn Cemetery sometime between the above dates.
March 22
Police said officers observed the suspect’s vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound near E. North and N. York at around 1:35 a.m. The suspected vehicle was traveling with a white Dodge Durango. The Durango turned and headed southbound on Route 83, while the Jeep continued eastbound on North Avenue, last seen entering I-290 east. The vehicle was later found to have been stolen out of Bartlett.
March 21
A victim in the 500 block of S. York told police at around 3:19 p.m. he inadvertently left his wallet at a local convenience store. The following day, he found several fraudulent purchases on his credit and debit cards. The victim’s
driver’s license was entered into LEADS.
March 20-March 21
Burglary to a vehicle was reported at Oak Tree Court. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) entered his unlocked vehicle and took cash sometime between the above dates.
March 20
Residential burglary was reported in the 700 block of N. Indiana at around 3:53 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect described as a white male, clean shaven with a moustache claiming to be a plumber entered the victim’s residence and took collectibles. This case is pending investigation.
March 18
Theft by deception was reported in the 200 block of S. West at around 5:37 p.m. A victim told police that he was contacted by an unknown suspect(s) purporting to be with Amazon. The unknown suspect requested the victim purchase several department store gift cards and provide the card information. The victim complied with the requests.
Theft by deception was reported in the 400 block of S. Mitchell at around 10:23 a.m. A victim told police that he received an email from an unknown suspect reporting to be with Microsoft security. The unknown suspect stated the victim’s computer was hacked. The victim was then instructed to wire transfer money to an outside bank account. The victim completed the transfer, contacted his bank, and learned he was the victim of a scam.
March 17
Theft by deception was reported in the 100 block of S. Villa at around 4:14 p.m. A complainant told police that she received an email from an unknown suspect, who posed as her company’s managing director. The email requested a wire transfer to be sent for a completed job. The complainant completed the wire transfer and learned the email was fraudulent.
March 12
Theft was reported in the 100 block of W. Church at around 2:06 p.m. A complainant reported that an unknown suspect removed several campaign signs.
Unemployment benefits identity theft
According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported 10 incidents of identity theft with the intention of using a victim’s personal information to fraudulently apply for unemployment benefits through the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
Warrant arrest
March 20
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near W. North and N. Highland at around 10:45 a.m., Abel Medina, 24, of Glen Ellyn, was found to have an active warrant out of the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office. Median also was issued a citation for no seat belt.
