Edwin F. “Ted” Raye, a 60-year resident of Elmhurst, passed away recently at the age of 84. Former General Manager of Kentile Floors. Beloved husband of the late Anna Marie, nee Gunnell; loving father Ed, Kathleen (Roberto) Cuca, Margaret (Robert) Chaidez and Marcus; devoted poppa to Nolan, Colin, and Owen Chaidez; fond uncle to Joseph (Heather) Gunnell and Julie Cleff and great-uncle to Ivy and Magnus Gunnell; loving grandfather to his grand dogs, Bear, Panda, Teddy, and Angel. Ted never met a dog he didn’t like. He looked forward to walking his dog around the neighborhood while enjoying a cigar. Passionate about cooking, he believed everything was better cooked in butter. He taught his family the best meals come from instinct and to never follow a recipe. He knew every line from his favorite movies: Blues Brothers, Airplane, and Casablanca. A devoted Jeopardy fan, he watched every episode and seldom missed an answer. He loved watching episodes of NCIS. If you asked him, the original cast was the best.
