On Monday, March 22 at about 2:30 p.m., the Independent received a communique from School District 205, authored by School Board President Kara Caforio, about Superintendent Dr. David Moyer
“In January, Dr. Moyer announced that he would be leaving D205 at the end of the school year to further his career in another school district in New York,” she said. “Since the announcement, the Board of Education and Dr. Moyer have worked together to develop a transition plan to maintain the high quality of education in D205.
“Based on these discussions, the Board and Dr. Moyer have mutually agreed that his last day will be Wednesday, March 31.”
The search for Dr. Moyer’s successor is well underway, Caforio said, and will not be affected by his departure on the 31st.
The Board is planning to retain Dr. Linda Yonke, former superintendent of New Trier High School and former principal of York High School, as interim Superintendent for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year or until the new Superintendent can assume the role.
