Marjorie E. Paddock died Feb. 18, 2021, of natural causes just two days after what would have been her 75th wedding anniversary. She was 96 years old. She was the widow of Robert Paddock who died in 2009. Marge was born and grew up in Indianapolis, Ind. She moved to the Chicago suburbs in 1952 and was a resident of Elmhurst since 1959. She graduated from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis and was attending Miami University of Ohio when she married the love of her life Bob Paddock in 1946. Marge did secretarial work for a couple of small firms in Chicago, but her true passion was raising her son Jim and her daughter Sue and then later spoiling her six grandchildren.
Marge and Bob had a wonderful life together. They loved dancing, bridge and traveling the country. Some of their fondest memories were the outings they made in their RV as members of the Windy City Winnies. They were also very active in the Episcopal Church wherever they lived. Marge was a long-time member of the Altar Guild at the Church of Our Savior in Elmhurst. She was also active in the Dames Club for the faculty of York High School and the Elmhurst Garden Club. In her later years, Marge was a resident at Lexington Square of Elmhurst. She was very involved socially right up until the end. She had many friends there and loved playing bridge, Mah Jong, and bingo. She also religiously did her daily crossword puzzles, in ink!
Marge was pre-deceased by her parents Frederick and Bessie Lorenz, her husband Bob, and her daughter Susan. She is survived by her son Jim and his wife Kathy of Placentia, CA; grandchildren Lisa Serpa, Bridget Kester, Lance Paddock and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by Sue’s widow, Bill Trudeau and grandchildren Matthew Trudeau, Jack Trudeau, and Brittany Sarna.
Services were held privately through Pedersen Ryberg Funeral Home in Elmhurst. Remembrances can be sent to the funeral home. Donations in Marge’s name should be made to the Church of Our Savior in Elmhurst, the American Diabetes Association, or the American Lung Association.
