The Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 Board of Education has begun the search process for a new Superintendent and the Board is seeking input from the public.

School Board president Kara Caforio issued a letter last week urging parents and other stakeholders to get involved and make their opinions heard.

“As you may be aware, Dr. David Moyer is leaving the district at the end of the 2020-21 school year,” Caforio said in the letter. “We have selected School Exec Connect, an educational search firm, to assist us in the process of finding a new Superintendent.”

The letter asks that parents and stakeholders in District 205 participate in an online survey that is available now through Feb. 19. Parents and staff were to be sent a link by email on Feb. 3.

Beginning the same day, residents and members of the business community are invited to find the survey link on the D205 website at elmhurst205.org. Also, the search timeline and other resources can be found on the D205 web site at the D205 Superintendent Search page.

Besides the survey, Caforio said the consultants from School Exec Connect will be holding focus group sessions to receive input on the District’s strengths, its challenges, and the characteristics the next Superintendent should possess. These focus group sessions, which will include staff, students, parents, and community members, will be held online and will be conducted between February 8-19. Dates for all sessions will be published at the D205 website.

Findings from the survey, open forums, and focus group conversations will be used to develop a New Superintendent Profile that will be reported to the Board on February 24, 2021, Caforio said.

“As we move forward, our most important consideration is securing the strongest candidate pool and ultimately hiring the best person to lead our District,” she said. “To that end, the Board of Education has decided to conduct a confidential search. The final interview process will involve the participation of stakeholders to interview the three finalists and provide feedback to the Board.”

Caforio said that anyone with questions or comments about the search process may contact Dr. Linda Yonke at School Exec Connect directly at [email protected].
