BETTY JEAN BOBOLIA
Betty Jean Bobolia, née McCoskey, age 90, of Lombard. Beloved wife of 68 years to Paul Bobolia; cherished mother of Linda (Tim) Halleckson, Karen (Richard) Berger, Mary (Dan) Coco, Barbara (Harold) Cazaubon, and Lisa (Sean) Kerns. Devoted grandmother of Stephanie (Mike) Gorecki, Stacey Berger, Corinne (Sarah) Berger-Clark, Tony Coco, Hannah (James) Garriga, and Stephanie Coco. Fond Great-Grandma of Theo and Gwen Gorecki. Big sister to Pat (the late Mary) McCoskey and Donald (Carole) McCoskey, and aunt to many.
Betty was born and raised in New York where she graduated from Cochran School of Nursing and began a nursing career. After finding her soulmate Paul, the newlyweds relocated to the Midwest where they raised their family of five daughters. After a number of years, Betty resumed her nursing career at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital where she worked until retirement. After that, she remained a familiar face around the hospital as a dedicated volunteer.
Betty will always be remembered for her kind nature, fun loving spirit, great love for her family, and her famous potato casserole, which nobody has been able to duplicate. She is already missed but she has left us with a treasure trove of amazing memories.

SUSAN J. GIANNINI
Susan Jean Giannini (Crowley), of Carol Stream, died Friday, May 8, 2020, at St. Alexius Medical Center Hoffman Estates after a long and courageous battle with lupus. She was 75 years old. She was born on March 26, 1945, in Chicago.
Susan was survived by her husband of 39 years, Lawrence Giannini, (a longtime residence of Lombard), two children Christie Ruffino (Vodden), Gerald Vodden, and stepson Larry Giannini. She was a devoted grandmother to Gerald Ruffino, Jesica Ruffino, and Matthew Vodden, a step-grandmother to Joshua Giannini, Christopher Giannini, Anthony Giannini, Sidney Giannini, and a great-grandmother to Scarlet Clark and Joe Clark Jr.
Sue loved life which included her family, Las Vegas, attending “Friday movie nights” with the girls, gardening, adopting and supporting feral cats, spending time at their cabin in Delhi, Iowa, and many other adventures.

Cynthia Ann Paoletti, age 63, of Lombard, passed away January 15, 2021. Beloved wife of Marco for 36 years; loving mother of Fred and Adam Paoletti; proud grandmother of Nico, Frederick, Liam and Blake; fond sister of Sandra, Bernadette and Tammy; fond aunt to several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents Richard and Louise Buckley.
Cynthia was known for her perseverance while battling with health issues for many years. She will be remembered by her unwavering strength and positivity. The world has lost a truly beautiful person who was like a second mother to all. A memorial will be held at a future date.

Margaret Lillian Picciuolo, née Neuschaefer, age 89, of Naperville, formerly of Lombard, passed away January 17, 2021.
Margaret Lillian was the beloved wife of the late Jules V. Picciuolo; loving mother of 7 (two Deceased), Diane Picciuolo, Judy Picciuolo (Arthur) Dane, Robert Picciuolo, Steven (Dawn) Picciuolo and Loraine Picciuolo (Joseph) Donaldson; cherished grandmother of 17 (one deceased), Rebecca, Dustin, Christopher, Joseph, Matthew, Kevin, Jeff, Andrew, Brian, Noel, Scott, Timothy, Barrett, Anthony, Gregory and Robert; adored great-grandmother of 16, Vivian, Marisol, Christina, David, Quinn, Darren, Maddie, Hadley, Beckett, Beatrice, Scarlett, Evalyne, Tyler, Nicholas, Zackary and Cora; and Aunty of many nieces and nephews.
Margaret Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, the late Jules V. Picciuolo and her two sons, the late David (Vicki) Picciuolo and the late Michael (Louise) Picciuolo; a loving granddaughter, the late Amanda Picciuolo; Margaret Lillian’s parents, the late Erwin and Katherine (nee Devine) Neuschaefer; her six siblings, the late Harold (the late Marianne) Neuschaefer, the late Earl (the late Louise) Neuschaefer, the late Erwin (the late Dorothy) Neuschaefer, the late Katherine (the late Michael) Skibo, the late Doris (the late Joseph) Trudeau, and the late Raymond (Diane-still living) Neuschaefer.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday, January 26, with from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard to Mass at Sacred Heart Church, 114 S. Elizabeth St., Lombard. Interment occurring Thursday, January 28, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois.

Margaret Lillian had been a resident of Lombard since 1970. After a fire in her home in 2005, she had a home with Senior Home Sharing. She moved several times and most recently lived at St. Patrick’s Residence in Naperville. Her family wishes to thank everyone at St. Patrick’s for their loving care.
Margaret Lillian was an active member at Sacred Heart, where she was a former choir member. She was the secretary to the editor at the National College of Chiropractic in Lombard.

EDWARD C. SCHMITT
Edward Charles Schmitt, age 87, of Lombard passed away peacefully on Friday January 22, 2021.
Edward was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Leona (nee Hanley), sons; Thomas & John, parents; Charles and Margaret Schmitt, and sister; Patricia Pilot.
Ed is survived by his children: Edward (Susie) Schmitt of Lombard, Stephen (Kathleen) Schmitt of Chicago, Anne (Bob) Kolatorowicz of Westchester, Kathy (Frank) Miley of St Paul, David Schmitt of Lombard, Daniel (Mamie) Schmitt of Lombard, Mary (Dave) Nelson of Wheaton, William (Patrice) Schmitt of Naperville, Paul (Michele) Schmitt of Lombard, Michael (Zina) Schmitt of the UK, Margaret (Darren) Aho of Naperville; 27 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Ed was born in Chicago, January 27th, 1933, and graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1951. He served in the Army during the Korean War. After returning to the US, Ed attended Memphis State before coming back to Illinois. Ed and Leona were married in 1956 in Chicago before moving to Lombard in 1962. Ed worked as an insurance broker for Marsh McLennan in Chicago for over 20 years before branching out on his own to begin Carey Associates, honoring his mother’s family name.
Both Ed and Leona were devoted to Sacred Heart Parish where Ed coached the basketball team for many years and participated in the annual Germanfest. Ed enjoyed time with his family, whether he was participating in sports with them or watching from the sidelines.
Ed and Leona cherished their time in Lake Geneva, whether on their boat touring the lakefront or with his children and grandchildren spending endless hours swimming all summer. Ed considered his life to be one built on luck, but we saw it differently – we saw it to be one built on faith, hard work, determination and love for his family. He will be missed.
Private visitation, due to COVID-19 restrictions, will be held for immediate family members only at Brust Funeral Home on Friday morning, January 29th, followed by a funeral at Sacred Heart Church in Lombard, IL at 10 a.m. Edward will be laid to rest at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Wheaton.

Irene Mildred Stone (nee Macha) age 92, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2021. She was a 52-year resident of Lombard.
Preceded in death by loving husband, Robert J. Stone. Beloved mother of Linda (late Jeffrey) Steadman, Robert L. Stone, and Michael (Cindy) Stone. Loving grandmother of Christopher (Nicole) Buziecki, Scott (Shannon) Buziecki, Jeffrey Jr. (Barbara) Steadman, Charles Steadman, Alexander (Simone) Steadman, Arthur Steadman, Michael Steadman, Robert J. (Danyel) Stone, Staci (Trae) Meyr, Melissa Stone, Amanda (Joshua) Murawski, Melanie (Derek) Raimondi. Proud Great Grandmother of Savannah Buziecki, Jace Buziecki, Paisley Buziecki, Robert D. Irene received a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences from The University of Illinois at Chicago and a Medical Technology degree from Century College. She was an Illinois licensed Real Estate Managing Broker and owner of Stone Realty.
Irene bred and loved showing Russian Wolf Hounds (Borzois) for many years.
Irene was heavily involved in politics. She served as the past president of the Lombard Republican Women’s Club, past Republican Precinct Committee member in DuPage County, a past DuPage County Forest Preserve member and a past DuPage County Board member for 18 years.
Irene attended Calvary Episcopal Church in Lombard where she sang in the choir.
Irene was an incredible person who impacted the lives of everyone she met. She lived through multiple eras successfully raising a family while living her own life. We will forever carry her memory in our hearts.
There are no immediate services planned because of COVID-19, but a celebration of her life will be planned for spring.
