DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) will close the COVID-19 community-based drive-thru testing site located at the DuPage County Complex in Wheaton at the end of the month, with the last scheduled day set for Friday, Jan. 29.
The COVID-19 drive-thru testing site at the Odeum Expo Center in Villa Park will remain open with the capacity to provide up to 1,000 tests per day.
The community-based drive-thru testing site in Wheaton is closing to provide additional support to DCHD’s COVID-19 mass vaccination efforts. Over the last few months, the number of testing facilities in DuPage has increased. This tend to have resulted in the increase of demand for medical supplies such as swabs and testing kits made available by companies such as allswabs (www.allswabs.com). Thus, residents have various options across the county for their viral testing needs, including doctor’s offices, urgent care facilities, pharmacies, and mobile sites which offer nasal swab and saliva tests.
DCHD opened the community-based testing site to meet the significant demand for COVID-19 testing from our communities in June 2020. Since then, staff at the site have collected 56,009 samples, as of Jan. 15, 2021.
