The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Criminal trespassing, criminal damage
Jan. 13
A victim in the 400 block of W. Butterfield told police at around 1:46 p.m. that during the past two weeks, her son’s and her daughter’s vehicles had flat tires. On the above date, she found a nail in her vehicle’s tire and believes the
incidents are related. There are ongoing issues with the alleged suspect. The officer spoke with the suspect, who related he does not know what happened to the victim’s vehicle.
Jan. 10-Jan. 11
Police said an unknown suspect broke the front plate glass door at a local business in the 1000 block of S. York and gained entry into the business sometime between the above dates. Items inside the store were disturbed however, nothing appears to have been taken.

Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct, damage to property, disturbance
Jan. 9
Police said officers in the 300 block of S. West responded to the above location at around 4:40 p.m. for the report of a domestic battery. The reporting officer met with the complainant who stated the suspect pushed her following a verbal argument. The suspect stated he pushed the complainant away after she punched him. No arrests were made due to conflicting statements from both parties.
Jan. 8
A 21-year-old Elmhurst woman was charged with domestic battery and driving while license suspended in the 100 block of S. York at around 1 p.m. Police said officers responded to the above location for the report of a domestic dispute. The reporting officer met with the victim who stated the suspect threw a fork at him, striking him causing a small cut. The suspect fled the scene prior to an officer’s arrival, but was later located and taken into custody.
A reporting officer met with a complainant at a business in the 400 block of W. Madison at around 1 p.m. who stated he felt threatened after his supervisor yelled at him. This case is pending investigation.
DUI, DUI-drugs, illegal transportation of alcohol
Jan. 11
Geosvani Valenzuela, 47, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, leaving the scene of an accident, driving while license revoked and no insurance subsequent to a roll-over accident near Grand and County Line at around 5:51 p.m.
Jan. 10
Cesar Burciaga, 38, of Chicago, was charged with DUI in the 100 block of S. Route 83 at around 8:01 a.m.
Alfredo L. Garcia, 20, of Addison, was charged with aggravated DUI, DUI-drugs, obstructing identification, unlawful possession of cannabis by the driver, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, driving while license revoked, improper lane usage and disobeying a traffic signal subsequent to a hit and run traffic crash near Church and Lake at around 12:35 p.m. Police said Garcia also was found to have a warrant from the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office and a warrant from the Addison Police Department.
Quentin A. Logan, 31, of Forest Park, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Elm at around 12:53 a.m.

Tyashana R. Williams, 23, of Chicago, was charged with illegal transportation of alcohol and no valid driver’s license subsequent to at traffic stop near York and Industrial at around 11:20 p.m.
Fleeing, eluding
Jan. 12
Police said that subsequent to an attempted traffic stop near I-290 and York at around 1:50 a.m., Lartrell D. Goodwin, 24, of Chicago, failed to yield for emergency lights and sirens and fled at a high rate of speed. According to police another officer observed the suspect’s vehicle stopped in the roadway. Goodwin was charged with aggravated fleeing/eluding, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, no valid driver’s license, speeding, failure to signal and no insurance.
Jan. 10
While on patrol near York and Roosevelt at around 2:07 a.m., a reporting officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for no front registration plate displayed. The suspected vehicle fled from the reporting officer at a high rate of speed. An ISPERN broadcast was disseminated. The vehicle was last seen traveling eastbound on I-290.

Mario Perez, 18, of Villa Park, was issued citations for unlawful possession of cannabis by the driver, improper lighting and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near Larch and North at around 12:12 a.m.
Deangelo D. Poe, 18, of Chicago, was issued citations for possession of cannabis by the driver and tinted windows subsequent to a traffic stop near Prospect and Butterfield at around 12:34 a.m.
Francisco G. Santiago, 20, of Chicago, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis by a passenger in a vehicle near Grand and Lake at around 10:57 p.m.

Georgio P. Moran, 23, of Wood Dale, was issued citations for unlawful possession of cannabis by the driver and no registration plate light subsequent to a traffic stop near Villa and St. Charles at around 10:43 p.m.
Jan. 10
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Roosevelt at around 2:16 a.m., Antonio Agee, 22, of Berwyn, was found to be driving while license suspended. A search of the suspect and vehicle yielded cannabis, which was not in an appropriate sealed, odor-proof, child-resistant container, according to police. Agee was charged with driving while license suspended, unlawful possession of cannabis in a vehicle, expired registration, tinted windows and no insurance.

Ricardo Magness, 32, of Redford Township, Mich., a passenger in a vehicle, was issued citations for possession of cannabis in a vehicle and illegal transportation of alcoholic liquor subsequent to a traffic stop near W. Lake and N. York at around 4:02 a.m.

Christopher Cherico, 33, of Round Lake, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, improper transportation of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, improper display of registration, no valid driver’s license and no insurance subsequent to a suspicious vehicle near N. York and E. Lake at around 9:55 p.m. Ashley Charboneau-Turner, 32, of Brighton, Mich., was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of cannabis. Michael Jones, 33, of Brighton, Mich., was charged with possession of a controlled substance. Police said Eric Campofiore-Audet, 31, of Palatine, was found to have a valid warrant out of the Arlington Heights Police Department. Campofiore-Audet also was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Campofiore-Audet, Jones and Charboneau-Turner were all passengers in the vehicle.
Patrick Deleon, 27, of Cicero, was issued citations for unlawful possession of cannabis by the driver and driving with one headlight subsequent to a traffic stop near E. St. Charles and S. Fair at around 8:45 p.m.
Suspicious circumstances
Jan. 13
A complainant near South and Poplar told police at around 2 p.m. that as he was riding his bicycle home from school, a black, newer model, sedan (possibly a Ford Fusion) pulled up and a white male teenager told him to get in the car if he wanted V-Bucks. The complainant said “no” and the vehicle left the scene. There was also a back seat passenger that could not be described.

A complainant in the 200 block of May told police at around 8:20 p.m. that subsequent to reviewing his surveillance footage, he observed an unknown suspect described as a white male walk up his front steps and possibly try to open the locked front door. A neighbor related that he observed the suspect in the area and he appeared to be a door-to-door solicitor.
Jan. 11
Police said officers responded to Elmhurst Hospital at around 3:04 p.m. for the report of a subject who accidentally discharged his firearm and shot himself in the hand. The incident occurred in Lombard. The Lombard police were notified of the incident, responded to the hospital and took over the investigation.
Dec. 18
A complainant in the 300 block of W. Fremont told police at around 5:39 p.m. that he received several letters in the mail regarding unemployment benefits in someone else’s name. The reporting officer met with the recipient of the letter who stated an unknown suspect(s) filed for unemployment benefits through the Illinois Department of Employment Security.

Jan. 11
Identity theft was reported in the 400 block of Hawthorne at around 10:36 a.m. A victim told police that he received a phone call from an unknown suspect who stated she was investigating a case of money laundering involving the victim’s bank account. The victim provided his personal information to the suspect.
Jan. 9
Retail theft was reported at a store in the 600 block of N. York at around 7:36 p.m. Police said a reporting officer met with loss prevention which stated an unknown suspect entered the store and stole merchandise. The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s, wearing glasses, all black clothing, gloves, a black baseball cap and a facemask. The unknown suspect entered a silver Chevrolet Blazer and fled the area.
Jan. 8
Attempted burglary was reported at a bank in the 700 block of W. North at around 9:45 a.m. Police said a reporting officer met with the complainant who stated an unknown suspect(s) attempted to force entry to an exterior drive-thru ATM. The reporting officer spoke with a corporate investigator who stated two unknown suspects pried open an ATM but were unable to access the secured vault. Both suspects left the area in a white Ford box truck. An investigation is pending.
Theft and forgery were reported at a store in the in the 100 block of E. Schiller at around 9:20 p.m. A complainant told police he sold a gaming console at the above location to an unknown suspect. The unknown suspect paid the complainant $700 in cash in exchange for the gaming console. The complainant later realized the money was counterfeit. The suspect is described as a black male with a heavier build, approximately 5-11, 240 pounds, and in his early 20s. This case is pending investigation.
Nov. 12-Nov. 13
Residential burglary was reported in the 400 block of W. Butterfield. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) entered the locked residence and removed costume jewelry and other items.
Unemployment benefits identity theft
Nov. 16-Jan. 13
Between the above dates, the Elmhurst Police Department reported 34 incidents of identity theft with the intention of using a victim’s personal information to fraudulently apply for unemployment benefits through the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
Warrant arrest
Jan. 13
Police said that while a reporting officer was on patrol, the officer was flagged down by a pedestrian who asked for a ride home. The subject, Robert Rodwell, 37, of Elmhurst, was found have a valid warrant from the Cook County
Sheriff’s Office, according to police.
Jan. 10
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and Lake at around 5:02 a.m., Thomas Smolinski, 61, of Schaumburg, was found to have a valid warrant from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office. He also was issued a citation for expired registration.
Police said Andre Turner, 51, of Chicago, turned himself in on a warrant at around 3:57 p.m.
