CYNTHIA M. BANE
Cynthia M. Bane, “Cyndi”, 77, of Westmont, Illinois, passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, Illinois, on December 24, 2020, surrounded by loving family members. She had been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in April of this year and faced this foe bravely and with dignity through the grace of God and loving care of her sister, Helen.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 64 Norfolk Avenue, Clarendon Hills, Illinois, on Tuesday, December 29, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home.
Ms. Bane is survived by her beloved brother Keith (Kathy) of Lake in the Hills; cherished sister and devoted friend, Helen Gurtner of Westmont; adopted daughter, Rose Redmond; adopted granddaughter, Eva Kissee; nieces Kimberly (Mike) St. Clair of Algonquin; Kristen (Bill) Pinter of Algonquin and Karayn (Kurt) Schingoethe of Algonquin; great nieces and nephews: Kaley (Bruno) Borowczyk, great grand-niece, Elli, Maxwell (Katelyn) and Ryan St. Clair; Kaitlin, Nicholas and Steven Pinter; Zachary, Wyatt and Ryder Schingoethe; Koykar cousins and many other loving relatives and long-time friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frances and J. Kenneth Bane, and adopted granddaughter, Soliann Cyndi Coleman.
Cyndi began a long and successful career after graduating from Rosary College (now Dominican University) in 1965 where she received a B.A. in Social Work. She went on to earn a Master’ Degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois in Chicago in 1973. She brought her knowledge and compassion to helping others throughout her professional career. Her work began as an Adoption and Abuse Counselor at DCFS in Chicago and later as a Psychiatric Social Worker at Woodridge School District #68 from 1979 through 2003 while maintaining a private practice as a drug and alcohol counselor.
Cyndi loved to retreat to her home in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. She could be found relaxing by a bonfire or venturing out with her camera to capture waterfalls and wildlife; snowmobiling through the woods, pulling a water skier or floating on her pontoon boat. She shared many vacations with Helen while carrying on her parents’ Maybrun business or traveling to new destinations to fulfill her goal of visiting every lighthouse throughout the United States.
Volunteering was another one of her passions and she willingly devoted her time to her Church and community. She was a Eucharistic Minister at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Clarendon Hills in Illinois and President of St. Vincent DePaul at Ascension Church in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois. She also served as a Lay Leader of Prayer and Eucharist Minister at Holy Family Church in Woodruff, while spending her summers in Wisconsin. Cyndi helped at the Food Pantry at People’s Resource Center in Westmont for over 20 years and served as President on the boards of the Townhome Associations where she lived. Her selflessness was inspirational and she always had time to offer a listening ear to anyone in need.

MARY ANN FLANNAGAN
Mary Ann Flannagan, nee Niebala, age 89, 54-year Lombard resident, died Dec. 22, 2020, at Elmhurst Hospital.

DR. C. ROBERT HUMPHREYS
Dr. C. Robert Humphreys, age 73, of Lombard, passed away November 29, 2020, with his loving wife of 43 years, Shelley (Lintala) Humphreys, and their son, Jeremy, by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Lois Humphreys; and his in-laws, Don and Florence Lintala, of Gallipolis.
Bob earned a B.A. Degree in Biology from Nasson College, an M.S. Degree in Biological Sciences from Kent State University and B.S. and D.C. Degrees from National College of Chiropractic. He also held a Diplomate in Neurology. In 2015, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Association of Functional Neurology and Rehabilitation.
Bob taught in the science department at Rio Grande College before moving to Lombard, Illinois, where he taught clinical neurology at National University, as well as post-professional courses in neurology and electrodiagnosis. He previously served as chairman of the diagnosis department, supervisor of the family practice residency and director of the student clinic. Bob also taught in the post-professional faculty at several chiropractic educational institutions as well as the Carrick Institute.
As a Professor at National University of Health Sciences, Bob shared his passion for learning, his expertise and love of functional neurology, and his sense of humor with his students and colleagues for nearly four decades.
Bob loved sailing, scuba diving and sharing meals with family and friends. He lived life to the fullest and those who knew him will always remember his exuberant laughter, generous spirit and passion for life.
No services will be held at this time. There will be a celebration of life scheduled in the future.

Irene Rae Poletti, nee Schugailo, age 71, of Glendale Heights, passed away on Dec. 24, 2020.

JAMES RIGITANO JR.
James (Jim) Rigitano Jr. passed away on Dec. 10, 2020, from complications related to his battle with COPD.
He was born to James and Jean Rigitano on July 11, 1948, in Chicago. Jim married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Ann Rigitano (nee Saviano), and they enjoyed more than 50 years together.
The couple raised four sons, Anthony (Adrienne), James (Cheri), Solvatore (Katie) and Gino (Brianne) in Bloomingdale. The family has since grown to include 11 grandchildren: Anthony, Sophia, Loretta, Mary, Joseph, James, Anna, Angelo, Dominic and Alphonsus, as well as another who is on the way, due in 2021.
Jim is survived by his wife; children; siblings, Linda (Arthur) Huebner, Steven (Liane), Catherine (Ronald) Watt; along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; and Patricia’s parents, Pasquale and Loretta.
Jim had many joys in his life including his family, sports, and working on cars. The latter he turned into a career. He was a mechanic who worked in the transportation department at ComEd for nearly 25 years. Outside of work, family and friends knew they could count on him for help with their own vehicle woes.
Jim’s other passions included being a Papa to his countless grandchildren, playing 16-inch softball, rooting for the Blackhawks, watching Hallmark movies, celebrating holidays, loving dogs and visiting Disney World.
Mass was held Dec. 21, 2020, at St Isidore Parish. Interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside. The family requests no flowers.
