The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Criminal trespass to property, criminal defacement
Nov. 13
Police said a reporting officer met with Elmhurst University security at around 5:22 p.m. who reported a suspect was in violation of a no-trespass order after he was seen on campus. The suspect was previously suspended and trespassed from the university. Security requested a police report as a matter of record. No complaints are to be signed.
Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct, damage to property, disturbance
Nov. 18
A 50-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with domestic battery and interfering with the reporting of a domestic battery in the 500 block of Adele at around 6:55 a.m. Police said subsequent to a verbal argument, the suspect struck her.
Nov. 15
Police said a reporting officer met with a complainant at around 9:25 p.m. who stated she was involved in a verbal argument with her boyfriend. The argument turned physical when the complainant allegedly pushed the suspect. The suspect stated he pushed the complainant back. There were no injuries to either party, and the suspect left the residence without further incident.

Billy T. Ferrell, 58, of Bensenville, was charged with DUI and improper lighting subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Grand at around 12:58 a.m.

David M. Grubbs, 62, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of open alcohol, driving too fast for conditions and no insurance subsequent to a traffic crash near York and North at around 7:34 p.m.
Nov. 15
Daniel Green, 66, of Bellwood, was charged with DUI-drugs, improper lane usage and disobeying a stop sign subsequent to a report of an intoxicated driver near S. York and Vallette at around 9:36 a.m.
Michael Kessler, 31, of Northlake, was charged with DUI and no insurance near Sunnyside and Olive at around 8:07 p.m.

Sebastian Velasco-Cedillo, 24, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, transportation of open alcohol, speeding, two counts of disobeying a traffic control signal and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and Roosevelt at around 1:09 a.m.
Dominique Womack, 27, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, unlawful possession of cannabis by the driver, speeding, expired registration and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near S. Route 83 and W. St. Charles at around 10:14 p.m.

Scott Hiatt, 51, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and no insurance subsequent to a vehicle crash near N. York and Crestview at around 1:51 p.m.
Endangering the life of a child
Nov. 12
Lariana Townsend, 26, of Elmhurst, was charged with endangering the life of a child in the 100 block of Fellows at around 6:58 a.m. Police said that subsequent to a search warrant, officers recovered several grams of heroin and cocaine, and cash. A second suspect was charged with several drug charges out of Cook County and was taken into custody by the Illinois Department of Corrections. Warrants are pending for endangering the life of a child, according to police.

Nov.16
While on patrol near York and Crestview at around 5:29 a.m., officers observed a vehicle which was reported stolen. The driver was positively identified as being involved in an armed robbery in Burr Ridge, and ramming a Lyons Police squad car. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled eastbound I-290 at a high rate of speed. Officers disengaged
attempts to stop the vehicle, and an ISPERN was broadcast. An investigation is pending.

Ladashia Fields, 21, of Chicago, was charged with obstructing identification while Elijah Argue, 20, of Bensenville, was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis in a vehicle and an expired driver’s license subsequent to a traffic stop near N. York and E. Grand at around 5:32 p.m. Police said Fields was found to have provided a false name and date of birth. Police said Argue also was found to have an active warrant out of the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office.

Tadario K. Hall, 33, of Chicago, was charged with possession of cannabis in a vehicle, driving while license suspended, disobeying a traffic control device, tinted windows and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Kenilworth at around 2:48 a.m.
Nov. 13
Jackelin Gonzalez, 25, of Villa Park, was issued citations for unlawful possession of cannabis in a vehicle, speeding and no seat belt subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and I-290 at around 7:33 a.m.
Armando Salmeron-Godine, 22, of Maywood, was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis in a vehicle, speeding and driving while license suspended subsequent to a traffic stop near E. North and Melrose at around 11:43 a.m.
Police said that subsequent to a report of a suspicious subject in the 200 block of Crestview at around 12:12 a.m., officers made contact with a group of juveniles who were found to be in violation of curfew. One of the juveniles was issued a citation for possession of cannabis.

Juan Juarez Gonzalez, 20, of Addison, was charged with possession of cannabis over 30 grams but less than 100 grams, possession of adult-use cannabis within a vehicle and tinted windows subsequent to a traffic stop near W. St. Charles and Scott at around 8:39 p.m.
Mark Sulkin, 31, of Elmhurst, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis in a vehicle in the 300 block of W. Commonwealth at around 11:57 p.m.
Suspicious circumstances
Nov. 17
Police said officers responded to a pharmacy in the 100 block of W. North at around 8:10 p.m. for a suspicious person. Upon arrival, the victim related that while leaving the pharmacy, the suspect followed her to her car and began knocking on her window. When the victim called 911, the suspect fled the scene in a gold sedan traveling north bound on Addison Avenue. An investigation is pending.

Nov. 17
Jeremy Miller, 39, of Schiller Park, was charged with felony retail theft, burglary, possession of burglary tools, possession of a hypodermic needle, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting and failure to obey traffic laws on a bicycle at a pharmacy in the 100 block of N. Palmer Drive at around 9:54 a.m. Police said Miller was located on a bicycle and fled. Police said he also was wanted on a warrant out of Bellwood.
Burglary was reported at a landscaping business in the 100 block of Willow at around 8:36 a.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) removed a Dewalt Roto hammer drill from his unlocked trailer.
Theft by deception was reported in the 100 block of S. York at around 11:54 a.m. A victim told police she received a phone call from an unknown suspect who posed as an Apple Inc. employee. The victim provided the suspect with remote access to her computer and the suspect subsequently purchased gift cards. The victim was reimbursed for the purchases.
Aug. 27-Nov. 17
Theft of services was reported at a rent-a-car facility in the 800 block of N. York sometime between the above dates. A complainant told police that the suspect rented a 2019 Nissan Rogue and has not returned it. Several attempts to contact the suspect were unsuccessful. An investigation is pending.
Nov. 15
Retail theft was reported at a mobile phone store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at around 3:52 p.m. Police said officers responded to the above location for the report of a retail theft that had just occurred. A complainant told police that an unknown suspect described as a black male in his early 20s with marks on his face next to the outside of both eyes was in the process of purchasing two Apple iPhones. The complainant walked away to retrieve a third phone, and when she returned the suspect and the two phones were no longer in the
store. Officers checked the area but were met with no results.
Oct. 28-Nov. 14
Identity theft was reported in the 100 block of Schiller between the above dates. Police said a victim was notified by TransUnion that an unknown suspect used his personal information and attempted to open a Citibank credit card. The victim received numerous alerts that additional attempts had been made on his credit. The suspect texted the victim, demanded money, and reportedly attempted to extort the victim. The victim froze his credit, refused to pay the ransom demand, and blocked the suspect’s number. The victim has no dollar loss.

Identity theft was reported in the 100 block of N. Pine at around 12:03 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) used her personal information to open a new credit card account. The victim was alerted by her bank who subsequently denied the application with no dollar loss.
Nov. 12
Attempted deceptive practice was reported in the 700 block of N. Geneva at around 11:32 p.m. Police said a reporting officer spoke with a complainant who stated an unknown suspect attempted to obtain cash from the victim. The unknown suspect instructed the victim to withdraw cash from his account and ship the money via FedEx to an address in California. The victim complied and sent the package. Soon after, he was able to mark the package to be returned to the sender.
Unemployment benefits identity theft

Between the above dates, the Elmhurst Police Department reported 41 incidents of identity theft with the intention of using a victim’s personal information to fraudulently apply for unemployment benefits through the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
